Hi Jonal, I'm atm a low-mid diamond genji with 300h+ so you are above me but I think I have good mechanics around genji's skills, I have still some issues about shuriken accuracy, positionning, and target prio. I looked a bunch of Shadowburn and Shadder2k videos (my favorite-one, I looked every single one since I know him) and I apply a lot of what they are doing on DB. Most of ur advise are good but I think it is for lowers genji, some tips aren't rly optimised. Here are the higher tips I use and that I did not see in ur video (without nano) : - Double jump and have kind of 30 degrees angle below you maximise dragonblade range on packed people (like orb, for ex) - When u dash into people and have that 50 extra dmg on hem, u can bacically only blade + dash or dash+ blade every char u hited like on nano, so it's really more effective in some cases - Sometimes when u want a quick death on someone (soldier ult, mercy), with dash reseting blade animation, u can pretty much insta-kill. Furthermore, people aren't always on 200 hp so when u use DB blade+dash or dash+blade (it work often and if it doesn't anyway u have dash reset on kill and pretty much same time or quicker if well executed) - Looking a little above people hitbox increase blade range. - And last but not least, when u dash in the air and use DB, mind about always jump in the air after the dash so u have more time to see what's going on (u did in the video but no saying), and right after that u use DB use ur reflect wait just a lil then dash to cancel reflect. Most of the time ur jumping on ana or a bunch of people so, when they see an angry ninja-robot they are just focusing him hard so, u could reflect or atleast avoid ana sleep dart and no taking dmg from people (who will stop shooting at u or get rekt). Also I don't agree with not looking around u on DB, finding squishy target and confirm kills is the easiest way to win a fight, still when it takes too long or u have oportunity kill tanks. I think u know some of those tips but we could discuss some points and it can help other genjis too. I hope u see no offense here. Good work anyway. Hope to see ur commentary soon :) Bye

If you already know how to do a what I talk about in the video, there still might be things or philosofi that can help, if not then there might be a more advance guide later on. Also to note that genji's play very diffrent. Shadder, Shadow, Seagull or any genji play differnt. It is also very hard to explain how to do something, since it is gonna be a "if this: but then if this happens... then this can also happen... and this can also happen and then that thing isn't working anymore" If you have watched my dmg combo guide for genji, I don't mention every singel combo that is viabel, I explain some of them then I go onto explaingin why we do them and then I leave it at that. No one wants a 20 min video of me talking about dragon blade or dmg combos for genji. Everything in this game is up to situations and therfor I am rather trying to give a "why we do" insted of "just listen and do as I say". An exampel is that yes, while blading onto a target that you first hit with your switfstrike does that you can either dash-blade or blade-dash to deal 220 dmg there can be weakness to this. - the target can move (such as mercy) or if your dash is off a little bit and it is for examepl soldier or lucio the target might be able to create a lot of distance and then you waste 2-4 sec to chase a target. - You might be booped after your dash (unless ofc you do swing dash) which puts you out of posision which again leads to you not getting the kill.^ - All of the above also goes for you being cced if you used your dash, you can destroy your own combo becuase of this. I also normaly oppertate with the fact that you are in "worse case". So for examepl the statement "enemy heros might not always be at 200 hp, they might be a 180 or 160". that is well and all, but if they are low on hp or has taken dmg that is just making everything easyer for you. No need to practice fighting people at a disatvantge. And yes ofc. it is importent for a player to understand that if the enemy is 170 hp or low I can dash-swing and insta kill him, however that is not something an unexsperianced player should focus on, that is something that comes with time and is also one of the reasons I mentaion the "math" of how much a db swing does and how much a dash does worth of dmg. Another reason I normaly opperate with "normal stats" (full hp, no team support (unless it's a combo or something)) is that if i say "they might be at 150 hp" you could say "well he might be zarya sheilded" then I could say "well we can grav them" and so on, the game is to complex to focus on "if this, if that". andas I said I don't want to make 20-40 min vidoes Ofc. In MOST cases ur doing DB with ur team, so ur team is following u on dmg, so here what happens : u dash in the air + DB + blade dash into ennemies (onto supports) if u get the kill on first, u got dash reset, u blade+ dash(+intant blade?)on the sup If not, ur on the support u dooble slash get dash reset back ur first target/low target and dash+blade or blade+dash The more u get kills, the more u can dash threw enemies and put them weaker making ur work easier so only blade or blade+dash or dash+blade On a perfect scenario u can always dash+blade onto target always dash threw making full animation cancel and rekt everything in a few sec like a pro. (often happens in small areas with enemy packed in a tunnel or whatever) Anyway if ur confortable with turning around blade+dash+blade is the fastest way to kill someone, and time on blade is valuable. And still makes u hard to hit. Everything else is game sense but that's the theory. Here are my thoughts about all that. Wish having ur feedback soon :) Bye
if you want to do it like that then you can do it like that. When I scrim with my team or play comp for fun I do my combos and my way of thinking. It works for me. if you can use your combo and it works then just do that. Everyone has a diffrent taste :)
ok ill add something that i saw many genji players forget about, if you feel like you are going to take alot of damage during nano blade, you can use deflect then cancel it when you want to dash again, it gets in some extra damage + protects you from some, ofcourse it depends heavily on the situation but keep this in your mind
I think a good habit to build is right before you blade or as you pull it out you take a mental picture of where all the enemies are, so on resets you can instantly dash to new targets and avoid wasting any slashes. If you look at Agilities whoru or necros they are really good at this.
I wanted to give you some critique and advise for your way of presenting information. I lost track of what you were saying all the time because you talked a bit unstructured. If you had some information sheets with important notes in the video, it would have been much clearer to understand. thanks anyways!
i play genji in masters and i thing i like to do a lot is dash through a target like a mercy then ult and slash dash and that will kill the mercy and if i hit another 200 hp enemy with that dash i can slash dash again and they are dead
i use that too man, dash into mercy, ult now two options 1. you will get one swing at her and dash again = mercy dead 2. as soon as you dash her and ult she will fly away, so i dash her and swing her midfly, its super efective only ana constant heal can save her
its not a good strat,a competent mcree/roadhog will stun then kill you,same with sombra but she will hack you,then you're dead.If you dash up you have a good advantage as not many people look up,they looking for you on ground and not in the air.Its safer too
Here are some useful tips that people never really taught me that improved my Dragonblade: 1. Make sure you actually know what you’re doing. If you see the pro players like Arikadou, when they ult you can’t understand what they’re doing. However, they understand it because they have experience. When you first start out, you should take genji’s Dragonblade slow, and make sure you are actually hitting your target. 2. High sensitivity is also pretty useful as Genji. When you’re performing a move like the ghost dash, it’s crucial to have high sensitivity to quickly move between targets. However, it does take practice to have at least decent aim with high sensitivity.
on a squishy, if u dash slash dash twice, u get 8 swings instead of 7. that means it’s actually beneficial to do this combo of two slashes w a dash in between unless it’s something like a lucio. also it’s nice to get used to for a reaper or mei without their invincibility cooldowns so they don’t make u waste it, and if u don’t dash on these 250hp heroes u won’t get the kill quick and ur giving them more time to react w the cool down if they have it

still a few things missing like using swift strike to animation cancel the sword swing or starting dragonblade with a swing followed up by a deflect ( u can cancel deflect any time with swiftstrike)
Seems interesting and good, i usually was dashing in front, for make extra dmg with first dash, but dashing into air could be better, enemy would see you harder than in front and u can choose better targets to kill,better view,one time i got killed by a zen on ulti couse he had charged skill and i dashed in front of him, so its more risky dashing in front than air. I have another tip for a normal dragonblade, when you see a full 200hp target, you can dash through, ult behind 1 swing and then dash und u will exactly deal 200 damage und you are harder to hit and its faster, what dou you think about this? even a bit more damage sorry haha

You could also use dragon blade by dashing through your enemies dragon blade and that would lower you targets so you can hit your dragon blade with one hit so it's is easy to pick of your targets

I'm super unlucky when I use dragon blade. Many times when enemy Genji uses ultimate it feels like my teammates just do not even try to escape him, but when I use dragon blade I always get hit by some random headshot(like literally. Yesterday I killed one person, dashed to zen and when I was about to finish him he did something which looked like panic "180 shot" and he headshoted me by accident, killing me). It just feels like when I pop up my ult, everyone gets +20 to aim : p. Feelsbadman.
There is also another type of ult type with genji that is easier and better than nano boost and better in the new meta. This is mercy powerboosting genji while ulting. Which makes it 30% more damage which means 156+65 which means the dash swing combo takes 221 health. This way you don't use any ult.

Nice vid, but I just had to say... I barely see you swift strike after left clicking while in dragon blade, so more time and losing the ability to chain, is there any reason you don't, or is it just bad habits?
Your genji skills are on point! Do you have anything that is for new genji players perhaps? Also, keybindings would be helpful or that overlay that shows what keys you press as you press them would be amazing. I have seen another video you posted in the training room and it seems like the combo of right click, dash/melee doesn't work for me. The dash/melee is a bit delayed. Anyways, i have subbed and will follow your guidance on this hero.
I am not the best genji but I do have around 50 hours with him. I would suggest increasing your in game sensitivity to around 15-17. It helps alot when engaging multiple targets at once. When you ult, know that if you get 1-2 picks you are doing your job as a DPS. Just make sure you get those picks on the supports or the main threat on the enemy team. With practice your ults should average 3 kills per blade with no nano boost. Also, use your blade strategically to bait enemy ults such as trans or beat. You could potentially bait visor and high noon if your Genji is intimidating to the enemy team. if you blade and bait 2-3 enemy ults that is fantastic. Obviously I have wiped entire teams with nano blade, but its important to realize this will most likely not gonna happen often. Engage when odds are in your favor, whenever your team is with you or the enemy team is 1-2 down. Practice, whenever you die watch the killcam and see what you coulda done better and try to NOT die as often as Genji.
Jorge Alvarado well sens depends on dpi. I have 800 and above ten is completely ridiculous. Im a Genji main however I am a very low sens Player (2.3on Mccree) even compared to hitscan pro players and 5-6 Works perfectly for genji for me. I would suggest the Sens that allows you to 180° easily and it should be reliable
Im a plat PC genji main and every time i condor (dash up) if they have a mcree or widow i die no matter how much i try to avoid it any tips im tryna become great at this game so i can feel good about something i do?
I find myself loosing targets while ulting, as in i jump up, jump on someone, kill them and then just see a tank and then just hit them until it runs out, however its normally not enough to kill them, as most tanks can negate a hit or 2 (either zarya shield, rodhog heal or etc). I lose track of where other ppl are. What advice could you offer?
My question is less about the dragonblade, but I play on console and lowering my aim smoothing feels like more sensitivity for swift striking but how can I maintain shrunken accuracy ? I find it a little uncontrollable no matter what I try
SaltySourKandy Gengu Main I play 95/40 with 40 aim smoothing try that and if it's still too fast try raising the aim smoothing until it's good for you.
Before you use DB, dash on to a 200 hp enemy and THEN activate blade. Slash once and dash again. Secures a kill. And then do whatever you want I suppose
If we have an Ana ill dash up for her to see me. But if we dont have an Ana ill dash through most people witch makes most of them 150hp. After that use blade and then slash dash combo them and it should kill. Nanoblade is self explanatory.

Honestly you have the right ideas on how to use Genji correctly seeing from your other guides but the one thing that hurts me to watch is how slow you play. When you blade you're just running around on the ground instead of jumping around and constantly dashing. You need to play faster and cleaner, clean up your aim heighten your sensitivity and watch some ShaDowBurn highlights
Godamn playing competitive with genji is much harder than plsying in quickplay cause you get toxic teammates most of the time and just doesn't want to do combo with you
?? What part of it makes no sense? You're practicing Genji ulting which can wipe out two or more enemies winning you the teamfight. Practicing Genji in quick play without having a idea on how to ult will just waste your ult and throwing the game.
i think it would be nicer if you record yourself in training mode and show yourself visual doing the ult combos so it's a bit easier to understand

Yesterday I killed one person, dashed to zen and when I was about to finish him he did something which looked like panic "180 shot" and he headshoted me by accident, killing me). It just feels like when I pop up my ult, everyone gets +20 to aim : p. Feelsbadman.

I just feel like at times the gameplay in the background took away from explanation.
There is also another type of ult type with genji that is easier and better than nano boost and better in the new meta. This is mercy powerboosting genji while ulting. Which makes it 30% more damage which means 156+65 which means the dash swing combo takes 221 health. This way you don't use any ult.

Nice vid, but I just had to say... I barely see you swift strike after left clicking while in dragon blade, so more time and losing the ability to chain, is there any reason you don't, or is it just bad habits?
Well if u dash through a target, and then blade-dash... that deals 220 damage. But thats only your first target... if you do hit both dashes.

Your genji skills are on point! Do you have anything that is for new genji players perhaps? Also, keybindings would be helpful or that overlay that shows what keys you press as you press them would be amazing. I have seen another video you posted in the training room and it seems like the combo of right click, dash/melee doesn't work for me. The dash/melee is a bit delayed. Anyways, i have subbed and will follow your guidance on this hero.
Blizzard saw people abusing melee dash and honestly it was really broken
I recommend setting your ultimate key to 3 our middle mouse button, so that you don't accidentally ult when no one is around.
Something im having trouble with is the actual distance your ult swing hits. Is the melee range increased? If so, about how many meters is it?
Range of dragonblade if I remember correct should be about 5 meters so 1/3 of a swift strike range

You can quickly kill 200hp heroes with normal dragonblade and swiftstirke so it isnt as useless

I am not the best genji but I do have around 50 hours with him. I would suggest increasing your in game sensitivity to around 15-17. It helps alot when engaging multiple targets at once. When you ult, know that if you get 1-2 picks you are doing your job as a DPS. Just make sure you get those picks on the supports or the main threat on the enemy team. With practice your ults should average 3 kills per blade with no nano boost. Also, use your blade strategically to bait enemy ults such as trans or beat. You could potentially bait visor and high noon if your Genji is intimidating to the enemy team. if you blade and bait 2-3 enemy ults that is fantastic. Obviously I have wiped entire teams with nano blade, but its important to realize this will most likely not gonna happen often. Engage when odds are in your favor, whenever your team is with you or the enemy team is 1-2 down. Practice, whenever you die watch the killcam and see what you coulda done better and try to NOT die as often as Genji.
Jorge Alvarado well sens depends on dpi. I have 800 and above ten is completely ridiculous. Im a Genji main however I am a very low sens Player (2.3on Mccree) even compared to hitscan pro players and 5-6 Works perfectly for genji for me. I would suggest the Sens that allows you to 180° easily and it should be reliable
Im a plat PC genji main and every time i condor (dash up) if they have a mcree or widow i die no matter how much i try to avoid it any tips im tryna become great at this game so i can feel good about something i do?
I find myself loosing targets while ulting, as in i jump up, jump on someone, kill them and then just see a tank and then just hit them until it runs out, however its normally not enough to kill them, as most tanks can negate a hit or 2 (either zarya shield, rodhog heal or etc). I lose track of where other ppl are. What advice could you offer?
plan your blades better, make sure your dash isn't wasted

so 120/2 = 60
120+60 = 180.
You do "1 shot" if you land a swiftstrike first :)
My question is less about the dragonblade, but I play on console and lowering my aim smoothing feels like more sensitivity for swift striking but how can I maintain shrunken accuracy ? I find it a little uncontrollable no matter what I try
SaltySourKandy Gengu Main I play 95/40 with 40 aim smoothing try that and if it's still too fast try raising the aim smoothing until it's good for you.

Before you use DB, dash on to a 200 hp enemy and THEN activate blade. Slash once and dash again. Secures a kill. And then do whatever you want I suppose

If we have an Ana ill dash up for her to see me. But if we dont have an Ana ill dash through most people witch makes most of them 150hp. After that use blade and then slash dash combo them and it should kill. Nanoblade is self explanatory.

Honestly you have the right ideas on how to use Genji correctly seeing from your other guides but the one thing that hurts me to watch is how slow you play. When you blade you're just running around on the ground instead of jumping around and constantly dashing. You need to play faster and cleaner, clean up your aim heighten your sensitivity and watch some ShaDowBurn highlights
Godamn playing competitive with genji is much harder than plsying in quickplay cause you get toxic teammates most of the time and just doesn't want to do combo with you
