what is the point of the video medium here? Should have written a guide, not made a video. Trying to follow you just explain it and talk of scenarios is too confusing and hard to keep up. You should have shown these scenarios, your own blades, or bad blades by someone else, why they are good, why they are bad.
+Jonal Gaming This guide was extremely helpful and in contrast to what I heard, too. They suggested chain dashing to targets as it refreshes each kill, or dashing up into the air and pull out the blade (again, it refreshes) and dash to your target from the air. How you explained this contrasts vastly to what I said there. What about a Hanzo ultimate guide, if possible? I never seem to get the angle on it correctly, but I know you can use it as a way to push players from the objective etc.
when ur low hp it seems like theres 100 ppl attacking u but when u blade theres like 1 guy who runs away. Also, when ur not blading ur team is trash but then the moment u pull it ur widow finally headshots the kill for ur dash reset and u dont have it
ShadowHunter002 the blade does cancel the melee animation, it is somewhat more reliable because one shurikan only does 28 damage, that isn't enough to do the combo
I've been looking at youtube videos on and off for bout a yea when i'm trying to get more info bout something in overwatch. I main hanzo at 140 hours and counting and I play tank a lot of time for my team. i'm level 1390 with no smurf. so i spend a lot of time trying to learn and get better at different things. I'm an achievement hunter so had to learn bout different heros to get all the achievement. Genji kinda stood out for awhile, and i causally put 20 hours on him. I was kinda worry playing him cause that high skill cap. but during a comp match that was gonna be a lost anyways i decided to give him a good try and it turned it around. My team lead kinda encouraged me to pick him up also , so decided then to try to take him as a 2nd main. so been trying to learn far more bout him. Since finding your videos, it not just improving my genji play watching them. I've been looking at other things in the game differently to. So far your the best youtuber I've found and given the most help to my play.
Imo you should always do slash dash slash against *low mobility* and no escape tool 200 hp heroes, for example Zen (who does not have trans). Zen cannot escape you, and you just win by doing that, you just slash dash slash, kill the Zen faster than just slash slashing, then you get your dash reset, dash to your next target etc... Edit: I'm a 300h genji main
Ilari Kallio Why would it kill them faster? You still have to put in the last cut, so dashing is pretty much useless...it takes the same amount of time, and tbh it take a little more time to dash in between, get your coordination back, and slash again. I only have, like, 5 hours on Genji, and even I know this...
Cashmir for someone with less time on genji it is more viable to just slash slash because you can easily fuck up the animation cancel and spend more time doing the animations, or you could just accidentally dash too far away from your target, but an experienced genji player using slash dash slash is faster but only if you cancel animations
Loves when Jonal gets triggured xd. Would love to see a lucio/zen ultimate guide, but tbh, I don't really care who you make a guide on, cuz it'll help me even if I don't play the hero.
oh btw when vs'ing mercy if you dash into mercy (b4 blade) the mercy will definitely 100% attempt a G angle to the furthest person away, the moment the mercy does that use ur blade and then either dash cut or cut dash depending how far you are away from the mercy upon ult
Yes it dose it helped me out alot I would swing and spam dash half of my blade is messed up cuz of it. And half of it get like 2 or 3 kills. Thanks alot dude
The best combo: dash through 2 targets and activate ult immediately after shift. Cut one of them once and dash through the other one u dashed through and cut them
I always end up getting killed by one of Symmetra’s laser mines the moment I take out my dragonblade. Either that or McCree flashbangs me and shoots me in the head.
The reason pros dash in between slices is to animation cancel for the second slice. I wasn't playing ow during this time but I think that's what the deal is
I usually get the first target by slash slash or dash (then dragonblade) slice dash, and I dash onto the next target because there’s nobody else within range. There’s been a couple times where that next target was a lucio and he just booped me away, leaving me with no dash because i used it to get into range. how can i fix this?
About that mei moment, you actually will dash anyway after cut even if she use her criostasis just to secure and stay away from her because it will draw the attention of mei's teammates to you. You should be fast as f... i mean very unpredictable on genji and change your targets in a blink of an eye. I think the only way to feel that moment when you should pull out your dragonblade is to play the game and it will come with practice mb some pro plays could also help. Other tips i guess are obvious like waiting for ults that can counter your ult but it's only my opinion. Sorry for my english btw.
Redlight 150+ hours on genji and there are some points that are mentioned in this video that i just simply did not think about, thats what its all about man
why am I watching this with 400 hrs Genji 4200 SR?? I guess this helps new otp’s tho. Something u forgot is use of deflect mid blade; After killing a target if u don’t know the location of ur next target u can quickly turn around after the kill and deflect to while u look around and then dash to another enemy. You can use it after u dash up to block ana sleepdarts, arrows, hooks etc. before u use ur second dash down on the enemies. there is a lot more I could cover but I really wanna sleep gn
I can explain all you really need to do is if the zarya has been at high charge she probably will get ult fast if she has been at low charge she probably will get it slow. And then to actually deflect it you wait for her to like run towards your team or just wait right in front of her and you just have to react fast to deflect it
Zarya will run staight towards your team when she's gonna ult. She will run right through rien or orisa sheild to ult. Do if she pushes up really agressive then chances are she has ult. Hope this helps
So should I use my dash initially through multiple targets to damage them first so that I can finish them with the slash + dash combo? Or should I dash up in the air to initialize my blade? I also hear that I should dash through multiple targets to charge my blade fast, is this true or am I wasting my dash?
Yes, dashing through multiple enemies is worth it for a LOT of ult charge. But only do it if you can get out wherever you end up after the dash. After the dash, don't bother shooting, you can immediately wall climb if they have no CC, or deflect while double jumping up before climbing out. Dashing through multiple enemies to damage them for the slash-dash combo is literal suicide. Your animation is too long, and you don't really want to spend time escaping before beginning your blade. You can do it on 1-2 people who are far in the back though. If you do use dash onto Mercy for damage and want to follow up with a blade, make sure to do this combo(due to her guardian angel on a 2s cd). Dash onto her->start blade->slash(no.1). After the first slash, don't dash immediately, use a second slash instead, only use dash if she guardian angel. If not, you are likely to fuck up your finishing dash. This also has the benefit of bringing you to your next target, with an extra dash left over, as well as not screwing up your escape if she gets burst healed(by brigitte or ana).
If there is a 250 hp target like mei reaper or doomfist, you may also dash right into it, activate dragonblade, try to slice 2 times and if its invincible, you still have your ult dash right?
well try this after dashing through them and blading slash then dash and slash again just to make sure they cant hit you and fight back since the 250 ones are reaper and doomfist where they can just get hp by hitting you
lol sounds like he was talking about rifty. I am a 200 genji main and i only use the dash slash dash if it is a un mobile hero or a tank it still not a good idea sometime but can be affetive in certain situations
My struggle is rushing...i always rush because i have 6 seconds i can sometimes get 3 max i have gotten thanks to a mei ult done at the right time i got 5 kills im one d blade but moving around getting to others targeting the right people, that I don’t get all the time correctly. And I don’t time it well i get cc’d somewhat often and don’t really know how to start i am a noob when it comes to d blade but the rest of genji im fine
Add texts of the tips on your videos, like bullet points after one tip and finally just go over as tldr at the end of the video. Most of the time I get lost with all these informations
Personally as a high masters console Genji and a mid masters PC Genji I completely disagree with not dashing a 200 hp target during a swing. Specifically when there is a clump of players.
Hey jonal i was told always doing slash dash slash actually canceled the animation for slash. i kinda always did it tho cuz i thought it was harder to hit me
Ya, in general, the advice to not use slash dash slash all the time is good. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure slash dash slash is faster to do the two slashes due to animation cancelling. At the very least, it helps survivability a ton but it creates lots of opportunities for a failed dragonblade.
Oh,wow this option is really good to get better with Ulti, thanks for inspiration :) What are the settings for this Ana bots option training with ultimate?
Riahisama I guess it's not too bad, although I use a slightly higher sens (if I remember correctly ~5@1800dpi) because you have to be able to turn around fast and all the time and because you're a projectile hero
Hi Jonal, can i use 800dpi and 4 ingame sensitivity for genji and still be efficient? (I am not talking about plat casual play, i aim for GM & top500, currently low-master)
Hey, Im a Normal Genji Player, but, im literally 2009 sr right now. However, ive played in plat a while back and when i queue with higher players, i can compete in higher levels of gold, so what do i do? Im getting tired of being laughed at of being a silver border in practically silver...
As i pushed out of plat into low diamond the things that really stood out was how important position is at ALL times and just work to improve gamesense, rest is just mechanical
Git gud I was once in your position I thought I deserved a higher rank and i realised I’m bad then I critically looked at my gameplays now 2 seasons later I’m 3800
probably that a year ago this guide was OK, but today, if anyone does that in master he is just a useless genji that gets wrecked every time he presses Q. The most important is to use dragonblade (when u don't have nano) as a followup ult, to bring damage in the melee and to use your dash to get fast burst damage in there. Your team is here to help you get resets. If u just wana slice twice the targets, well, the zarya is gona bubble, the ana is gona nade, the cree is gona flash, everyone is gona focus and boop and punch and......................... you.
wait but dashing into the ground after a swing and then swing again ain't bad. it's makes you harder to hit and it resets the animation. as long as you don't lose track of your target it's the best thing to do. i can't tell you how easy it is for mccree to shoot a double jumping genji out of the air. of course with high mobility heroes it's different.
I think my Sens is pretty low considering that Im a genji main. It fucks up my blades sometimes, but I hit my Shurikens consistently. I got used to it and I have muscle memory on it (800 DPI 4 IG). Any advices?
Saydon i had something similar, but changed in game to 10 to improve my dragonblade. IMO it is better to have a better dragonblade then accuracy with your shurikens. Also the sens change improved my blade a lot, makes it a lot easier to move around while blading. U will get used to the new sens fairly quickly, at least i know i did. My dragonblades now give 11 kills for 5 dragonblades approximately, thanks to jonal and sens change. Just to let u know
Watching this in 2024 to try and get his cute spray and you can't even do half of this stuff anymore because of the nerfes + health buffs. Not to mention lamp and life grip etc. Dragonblade is grossly underpowered right now and literally a hindrance, you just sacrifice ranged moves for nothing. Nanoblade can still work if you're really really good at least. And happen to have an ana.
if you think about it the chances of that kill not being secured is very low Dash > closes in the gap first meaning you will be most likely (with the unlikeliness of dashing several meters past them lol) in melee range > Cut > the cleave radius on blade is very high + the range is 5 meters then finally anim cancel the swing into a dash. oh and btw sorry I forgot the first dash is before you ult hahahah
sweatboi True, but it should never be done to high mobility heroes or heroes with invulnerability abilities like Lucio, Mercy, Reaper, Moira etc. as you will most likely waste your blade.
ITS NOT FASTER!!! YOU STILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SWING ANIMATION, AND YOU STILL HAVE TO SWING A SECOND TIME!!! YOU WOULD STILL KILL THE TARGET FASTER IF YOU JUST SLASH SLASH! THAT IS WHAT HE IS TRYING TO TELL YOU! Unless the target was already at lower health, just slash slash. It is actually faster than slashing, spending about half a second dashing through a target, spending another half a second getting your coordination back, amd slashing again. Thats one second of lost time, which is one extra slash on your sword. Like he said, only use it for kill securing, if they were not a full health when you started blading, otherwise, be simple and stop trying to look flashy in your POTG...
No intention to flame, but it is legitimately PROVEN faster to cancel the first swing with a dash, the second swing WILL go through faster, and you will save probably around half of a second if cancelled properly. The downside is a target being able to escape, which is why you should only do it on targets like zen and mccree, but you can't say that it isn't faster if you haven't actually tested it with a proper cancel. I'm not saying Jonal is wrong with anything else he said and it was a great guide, but you save a little bit of time WITH the slash-dash-slash kill.
Well idk what account oyu are looking at. I have 1 in lvl 300, 1 in lvl 100+ one with silver frame(around 600-700) + all the time I spend in scrimming/tournamets where I didn't get exp. I think I am a bit higher lvl then you think xD Keep on the work my dude! can't wait to see you in my ranked games :)
Did This Help You? Would You Like More Guides On Ultimates?
Thank you jonal the mei one is true it always happens to me.

Don't know why I watched this. I've only played Genji like 3 times since the game launched.
time to start? :)

holy shit this is the most useful dragon blade guide on yt
This actually helped I was confused why my blades are not always consistent because of I'm always wasting dash
Very helpful, another thing that I found helped is that you can even melee blade and dash to get the one shot if you don't have dash available
Oh wow, this is actually a really good point, thanks!
Kal no problem, it changed how I used dragon blade
Now I have an even easier way to delete Zens who try to ult to ruin my blade :3
Se7en D3ys will the blade cancel the melee? Otherwise is it not better to rightclick cut dash, since db animation cancels the right click animation?
ShadowHunter002 the blade does cancel the melee animation, it is somewhat more reliable because one shurikan only does 28 damage, that isn't enough to do the combo
WOW this is so useful thank you
Great video man. Really explained well :)

probably that a year ago this guide was OK, but today, if anyone does that in master he is just a useless genji that gets wrecked every time he presses Q. The most important is to use dragonblade (when u don't have nano) as a followup ult, to bring damage in the melee and to use your dash to get fast burst damage in there. Your team is here to help you get resets. If u just wana slice twice the targets, well, the zarya is gona bubble, the ana is gona nade, the cree is gona flash, everyone is gona focus and boop and punch and......................... you.
Lol u play like a wuss dont you
Lol wanna see this guide with current meta
Frosty tru
wait but dashing into the ground after a swing and then swing again ain't bad. it's makes you harder to hit and it resets the animation. as long as you don't lose track of your target it's the best thing to do. i can't tell you how easy it is for mccree to shoot a double jumping genji out of the air. of course with high mobility heroes it's different.
okay you did correct yourself. i agree only do it against hanzo or mccree
Can I please ask for the info for private coaching?? PLEASEE😁😁
hit me up on our discord server my dude! :)
I know how to play genji I just need the speed like necros every pixel on every signals frame gets analyse
Can this method work for PS4
Just to let u know
Well I use 800 DPI and 4 IG for all Characters. Is it okay to have it exceptionally for Genji high?
Definitely, it'll feel a bit weird at first but if you stick with it then you should be fine
Saydon i think so definitely, i have different sens for different characters, genji was always one of them
Thank you guys
Watching this in 2024 to try and get his cute spray and you can't even do half of this stuff anymore because of the nerfes + health buffs. Not to mention lamp and life grip etc. Dragonblade is grossly underpowered right now and literally a hindrance, you just sacrifice ranged moves for nothing.
Nanoblade can still work if you're really really good at least. And happen to have an ana.
Why not do cut, dash, cut, on a 200 hp hero if it does the most damage faster?
Theninja Gamer9264 you should if you're absolutely confident you can land the kill
He literally just stated why in the video lol
Dash cut Dash is faster
yes but if can't secure the kill than you don't have the dash or you can't dodge abilities like sleep or flash
if you think about it the chances of that kill not being secured is very low
Dash > closes in the gap first meaning you will be most likely (with the unlikeliness of dashing several meters past them lol) in melee range > Cut > the cleave radius on blade is very high + the range is 5 meters then finally anim cancel the swing into a dash.
oh and btw sorry I forgot the first dash is before you ult hahahah
was this recorded before the hanzo rework or did you forget scatter was removed
sounds like hes holding his breath while talking
i choked my dragon blade 5 times in one game
Wat setting do you go to to set up a practice game like this one with the blade inlong tjmer mode?
"spawn with ultimate on"
"unlimted ultimate"
when you go onto hero, click genji and turn those on
Man! You talk so fast...
Btw very useful
What are your pc specs I was wondering since you get really good performance at 82 degrees
If soldier uses his healing pod should i swing dash swing or just regular cuts?
Matheo Fernández 2 swings. If he jukes you with one swing and he runs away, you won't be able to catch him.
slash-dash-slash is far faster, if pulled off than just 2 slashes
While that's true it's really easy to react to it for a lot of characters
sweatboi
True, but it should never be done to high mobility heroes or heroes with invulnerability abilities like Lucio, Mercy, Reaper, Moira etc. as you will most likely waste your blade.
1,000th like
I’m 10 levels lower than you yet I’m silver 7 ranks below, feels bad man
Well idk what account oyu are looking at.
Against mcree you do not want to well up to him to dragon blade
Or you could right click blade cancel it dash then cut and they’re dead.
