Is This The Worst Deleted Scene In MCU History?

- Is this deleted scene from Thor: Love & Thunder the worst deleted scene in MCU history?
In this scene, we see the original intent for the character of Zeus, Zeus was supposed to be more of a father figure towards Thor after Odin died and we see Zeus offer Thor his most powerful weapon, Thunderbolt to help Thor defeat Gorr the God Butcher. MCU has a history of cutting out some pretty important scenes but this one might take the cake because what they did to Zeus was egregious compared to this.

“Zeus is many things but he is not pure.” Yeah, that’s an understatement😂
That made me giggle.
Also the fact that they had him say a Roman quote while he is going by his Greek name of Zeus instead of the Roman Jupiter.

Abs sculpted onto Zeus' huge round belly armor is hilarious.
a fun fact, real medieval plate armor is bulged at the belly intentionally, as this is the most vulnerable area to bow attacks. The rounded belly deflects the arrows energy away instead of absorbing it, avoiding penetration.

Not only does this scene work perfectly for thors arc in the movie, it also works as a much needed slow scene, AND it gives character to Zues, who definitely needed it
Zeus’ whole thing was that he wasn’t gonna let Thor go AND that he is gonna be the next Thor movie, now how do you explain him doing BOTH of those things with this scene still being in the movie?
@@NearAir I understand that it didn’t fit with the direction they took his character, but come on, they scrapped an actually good scene providing depth, and actual purpose to a character who was essentially a cardboard cutout of a character. Most times I would write it off for the fact that it was setup for the next movie, but when this scene could’ve made Love and Thunder a much better movie, I just can’t look past that. It’s not like they couldn’t still give Zues a reason not to like Thor after he shares his wisdom, hell they even could’ve made it where Hercules is mad at Thor because he won Zues’ favor, which fits with this scene, still works to set up Hercules for the next film, and still gives Zues the depth his character should’ve had from the beginning.
@NearAir that's the complaint. We don't want his character to be what it was in the film

This one scene is so much better than turning Zeus into a joke and then setting him up as a potential villain
I mean, Zeus in Greek Mythology was an actual ass and was technically the villain. He wasn’t at all charming like in the Disney Hercules movie
@@grimreaper5264 most of the time Zeus wasn’t really a “villain” in Greek mythology, that would be Hera being mad at Zeus for cheating on her all the time. Zeus had rarely ever been the actual antagonist in a story and actually good hearted in most telling sin mythology, his major flaw as a person was his inability to control his urges at the sight of any woman and his title making him act reckless because he is seen as all powerful and was almost never shown otherwise. Zeus is very flawed but never actually a main villain of almost any story, Poseidon actually has a worse temper than Zeus in most instances and is a more regular villain
This was trash just like the rest of the movie.
No it’s not this scene is ass
Pretty much Zeus's main role in Greek mythology was being the guy who was unable to keep his dick in his pants, causing his vengeful wife (the godess of marriage lmao) to go insane and hunt down his demi-god offspring.
He was a joke to begin with.

The idea of Zeus teaching Thor is a great concept
I mean it’s quite basic. So basic that it should’ve been common sense to put this in the film & go Atleast somewhere with his character. Father teaching son is one of the easiest & most genuine ways to captivate an audience & these clowns fcked it all up
Like the actual original Zeus in the myths would probably just kill him tbh. The Greek gods are just awful awful beings, he probably wouldn't be too thrilled with Thors lightning stuff or Odin calling himself the allfather. Lotta atrocities.

Very true. It's why Disney makes me laugh when they portray Zeus as a father figure in Hercules. Which he is not perfect at all. He didn't even love Hera the way he does in Hercules. @@mrb2349 Okay, I agree with that. My point was just that Zeus specifically shouldn’t be like this, even if the wrathful one was bad. (Also all the thunderbolt, energy, and purity stuff would all be too much for the universe. Like Gorr isn’t pure. How would he reach eternity? Or if anyone can access thunderbolt just by harnessing the energy, that’s just too powerful of an implication that comics can get away with)
They had to delete this scene because there was no making fun of Thor here, he wasn’t looking like a joke, and there was no way to make it look like he only survived because Jane was there to carry him through the fight. He was learning and bettering himself, and that went against the entire narrative.
Yep, that’s exactly it. Thor not being belittled or the butt of a joke, was not tolerated in this atrocious film.
No, they had to delete this scene because someone at Marvel decided that Zeus would be better as a future enemy for Thor, so this scene no longer made sense in that context.
lmao what narrative? Men always have to try and make it about their victim complex, that's how you get these insane takes that the hero with 4 movies to his name is somehow "belittled". Endgame is the movie in which he was ridiculed the most but you won't bitch about it because there's no female character to blame it on.
this scene just clashes with how zeus was actually portrayed in the film

@@mattfowler3760 The fact I commented and gave an opinion proves nothing. It takes a few seconds to leave a comment. It's not like I made a 2 hour video essay berating the film from start to finish.
The movie is told from Korg's perspective; not necessarily how it happened, but how he remembers it. My second viewing was much more enjoyable with this understanding.
They should’ve kept it. This is reminiscent of Thor thinking he needed his hammer , but Odin told him the hammer was not the source of his power , but a means of focusing it
I think that's why they didn't keep it. It's basically the same scene. He already had this lesson with Odin. It's redundant to do it again.
Finally an ancient Greek charater without a silly English accent
I guess originally Zeus was supposed to be sort of a father figure to Thor after Odin died and in this scene he offers his strongest weapon to help Thor defeat Gorr but they decided to scrap that and go the comedy route instead that we saw in the movie 🙄

In fairness that's how the Olympians are generally depicted as being dressed in Greek art.
If they're dressed at all. Greece has such a warm climate, after all, that in classical Greece men often just went around naked.
The original Greek tunic for men was two T shaped pieces of material that were pinned together at the shoulders and stopped at the knee, and were open down each side under the arms.
