Watching this from the safest place on earth right now, Greenland. This seems so unreal. I'm free to go anywhere without mask. Everything is open, 0 covid cases, while there is a 5 day quarantine for travellers. I escaped covid from Denmark in december and been visiting family ever since to avoid this pandemic. I actually come from a Kerala family. In 2018, we had a severe flood and our people lost homes, food, water, and shelter. The state government stepped up and Modi and the Central government denied a large amount of aid and he EVEN had the gall of telling the UAE government to not help us. In India, you see a Hindu nationalist government in Kerala, one will see a community where you will see Hindus, Muslims, and Christians UNITED as ONE!!! Instead of becoming ready to combat this, the central government decided to spend money on building. In Kerala, all NON-healthcare $$$ stopped. The government stepped up and it was a state government w/everyone that decided to have more Oxygen and ventilators and hospital equipment was vital. All of that credit goes to the Health Minister Shailaja teacher.

I live in Delhi and my mother has just recovered from COVID. I can't begin to imagine the plight of people who have lost their dear ones. Since last 4 weeks - not an hour passes by that I don't hear the loud ambulance sirens around. Current state of India is shocking and it makes me wonder that its a miracle that I am still alive. The level of indifference and incompetence exhibited by Indian government is shocking to say the least. And then they pat themselves on their back by broadcasting to the whole world that everything is OK. Everything is falling apart - specially for those - who already had nothing - no means of making daily wage - and who are now totally cornered by COVID and the system. Last couple of months have taught me only one thing - nothing matters - only money matters. Nobody cares about anything anymore. It is a sad fact - but it is true.

I lost my grandpa and uncle to Covid. Almost every week, my family get a phone call and we hear of a relative back in India passing away due to it. Heartbreaking 😭 A 30yr old relative passed recently leaving behind 2 very young children. So so sad
My grandfather died 3 days ago, and believe me real figure is at least 15 times higher. The crematorium where my grandfather was cremated is dedicated specially for COVID patients. When I went there were 40 bodies already burning, while a new one arrived every 5 minutes. Much to my surprise there were bodies lying around who had no one from the relatives, to perform final rights, they were simply abandoned maybe because of taboo or fear of relatives, or maybe they were poor to perform last rites. And this is the tale when my grandfather was tested positive and got cremated in official COVID declared crematorium, the other side of story is much worse. In my contacts people have died without testing for COVID since the tests were taking time, or they were in self quarantine, and needed oxygen all of a sudden when it dropped, but of no avail, and died , they were cremated in outskirts of city. The one that I attended of such unofficial crematorium, the token number that we received was 150, when we reached at around 1PM , for the next 3 hours we still didn’t get to cremate the body because of such high inrush of dead bodies and already in line before. To all the people who are not from India or consider COVID a joke or hoax, pray to god this strain doesn’t reach you.

My cousin worked as a vet in india an it got taken over an converted into a mini hospital. They ran out of everything in under a week. When she finally got back home after the worst of the COVID finally passed she had to take a month off to regroup herself. It was intense, she's stronger than I that's for sure.

I hail from Dehradun very next to Haridwar where Kumbh gathering took place, now the condition is such that medical facilities have collapsed, many people who are ill are self treating with the help of pharmacies, even my entire family is ill and are recovering. I can’t fathom your current situation. My mother had covid back in July but recovered after a month. That whole experience feels like a distant dream. All I can remember is being stressed, crying a lot, and freaking out whenever she didn’t answer her phone. That experience was so traumatic my brain doesn’t want to go there. After this please get some therapy or support, you and your parents. May you remain healthy in all senses. My thoughts are with India lately and constantly. You guys deserve better.

Also, Vitamin D is fat soluble - so it will not absorb unless you have a fat from food in your stomach at the same time. Fat soluble vitamins are A. D, E, K. I heard Iodine defiency may be a factor , as a community during the 1918 pandemic did better that ate fish in their diet. I saw older research studies that showed face masks worked to protect from the flu, so it also helps protect from covid. The social distancing ( not gathering) for events is important to stop the spread of the virus. Here they say to stay 6 feet from each other. I listened to a doctor from France , and she said they found 13 feet is needed. The virus can linger in the air, I believe I heard for 4 hours. At a doctor apointment I was in a room alone and I took off my mask. The doctor said I needed to keep it on , because you don't know if the person in the room before me had covid. I have been praying to God for your country every day and know God will help. My faith is christian. I am so sorry for the loss of loved ones from this virus. We will all be reunited again in heaven. In Spain we went through this nightmare in March 2020. Not total collapse of the system but very close. I live near a hospital and it was nonstop ambulances coming and going for weeks, people dying at home, ice skating rings serving as makeshift morgues, I’m keeping them in my thoughts, this is truly a nightmare.

I actually come from a Kerala family. In 2018, we had a severe flood and our people lost homes, food, water, and shelter. The state government stepped up and Modi and the Central government denied a large amount of aid and he EVEN had the gall of telling the UAE government to not help us. In India, you see a Hindu nationalist government in Kerala, one will see a community where you will see Hindus, Muslims, and Christians UNITED as ONE!!! Instead of becoming ready to combat this, the central government decided to spend money on building. In Kerala, all NON-healthcare $$$ stopped. The government stepped up and it was a state government w/everyone that decided to have more Oxygen and ventilators and hospital equipment was vital. All of that credit goes to the Health Minister Shailaja teacher.
As a Brazilian I can say, this is not an unfamiliar scenario. It was also very terrible here, actually we are still suffering. Hope both countries overcome this situation (and have better goverments). Stay strong, brothers!

My grandfather died 3 days ago, and believe me real figure is at least 15 times higher. The crematorium where my grandfather was cremated is dedicated specially for COVID patients. When I went there were 40 bodies already burning, while a new one arrived every 5 minutes. Much to my surprise there were bodies lying around who had no one from the relatives, to perform final rights, they were simply abandoned maybe because of taboo or fear of relatives, or maybe they were poor to perform last rites. And this is the tale when my grandfather was tested positive and got cremated in official COVID declared crematorium, the other side of story is much worse. In my contacts people have died without testing for COVID since the tests were taking time, or they were in self quarantine, and needed oxygen all of a sudden when it dropped, but of no avail, and died , they were cremated in outskirts of city. The one that I attended of such unofficial crematorium, the token number that we received was 150, when we reached at around 1PM , for the next 3 hours we still didn’t get to cremate the body because of such high inrush of dead bodies and already in line before. To all the people who are not from India or consider COVID a joke or hoax, pray to god this strain doesn’t reach you.

My cousin worked as a vet in india an it got taken over an converted into a mini hospital. They ran out of everything in under a week. When she finally got back home after the worst of the COVID finally passed she had to take a month off to regroup herself. It was intense, she's stronger than I that's for sure.

I hail from Dehradun very next to Haridwar where Kumbh gathering took place, now the condition is such that medical facilities have collapsed, many people who are ill are self treating with the help of pharmacies, even my entire family is ill and are recovering. I can’t fathom your current situation. My mother had covid back in July but recovered after a month. That whole experience feels like a distant dream. All I can remember is being stressed, crying a lot, and freaking out whenever she didn’t answer her phone. That experience was so traumatic my brain doesn’t want to go there. After this please get some therapy or support, you and your parents. May you remain healthy in all senses. My thoughts are with India lately and constantly. You guys deserve better.

Three of my friends lost their fathers, two of them lost their grandparents, two lost their sisters, a friend of a friend lost his whole family and at the end succumbed to the pain. The first wave was not so cruel, in this second wave everyone is losing someone. That's so worrying. Please start following all the SOPs now! It's NOW or NEVER. I saw older research studies that showed face masks worked to protect from the flu, so it also helps protect from covid. The social distancing ( not gathering) for events is important to stop the spread of the virus. Here they say to stay 6 feet from each other. I listened to a doctor from France , and she said they found 13 feet is needed. The virus can linger in the air, I believe I heard for 4 hours. At a doctor apointment I was in a room alone and I took off my mask. The doctor said I needed to keep it on , because you don't know if the person in the room before me had covid. I have been praying to God for your country every day and know God will help. My faith is christian. I am so sorry for the loss of loved ones from this virus. We will all be reunited again in heaven. In Spain we went through this nightmare in March 2020. Not total collapse of the system but very close. I live near a hospital and it was nonstop ambulances coming and going for weeks, people dying at home, ice skating rings serving as makeshift morgues, I’m keeping them in my thoughts, this is truly a nightmare.
So what exactly you want people to do? Stop trying to enjoy life during a global pandemic? Only focus on the bad things around the world? Without the internet we would probably even care less since it would only be an article in the newspapers...
