Priests are working 24 hour days to perform last rites, people are buying medicine off the black market, and hospitals are running out of oxygen as India faces around 400,000 new cases, and more than 3,000 deaths a day.

I just lost my Uncle yesterday. My parents recovered last week. I'm in isolation and Covid positive. The entire medical infrastructure has collapsed. I don't know whether I will survive or not. I feel like hugging and kissing my politicians right now for holding rallies for the elections.

My cousin’s dad lost his fight with Covid when the hospitals could not admit him, and there’s so much lack in communication and planning from the local government. This way in the Philippines.

The government company my dad works at have lost more than 10 of their employees due to covid and on their death certificates the causes of death was written as "respiratory failure" Name of covid-19 was not even mentioned this is one of the way government is hiding death toll due.

Watching this from the safest place on earth right now, Greenland. This seems so unreal. I'm free to go anywhere without mask. Everything is open, 0 covid cases, while there is a 5 day quarantine for travellers. I escaped covid from Denmark in december and been visiting family ever since to avoid this pandemic. Seeing how crazy situation has gotten in India is sad. I hope they will get a relief soon.

I was one of the resident doctor in this hospital during Covid crisis and it was so overwhelming to handle the patients and especially deaths happening and feeling so helpless. May we never ever have to experience this in life. 🙏🏻

My cousin worked as a vet in india an it got taken over an converted into a mini hospital. They ran out of everything in under a week. When she finally got back home after the worst of the COVID finally passed she had to take a month off to regroup herself. It was intense, she's stronger than I that's for sure.
Those horrible experiences during covid time still terrifying me.. still remember how some of my own family members mentally abused me at that time..

My grandpa passed away last week and so did countless friends and relatives of my family. The government has given up. The heroes, the doctors and nurses cant do much since the system has collapsed completely.

Lost my uncle today type1 and 2 respiratory failure and pneumonia covid positive. He fight but left within 3 days. In Delhi he need to be admitted in ICU but he was in emergency ward at aiims after rushing to 12 other hospitals. He died..... hell I saw 13 year kid died infront of my eyes after gasping

I actually come from a Kerala family. In 2018, we had a severe flood and our people lost homes, food, water, and shelter. The state government stepped up and Modi and the Central government denied a large amount of aid and he EVEN had the gall of telling the UAE government to not help us. In India, you see a Hindu nationalist government in Kerala, one will see a community where you will see Hindus, Muslims, and Christians UNITED as ONE!!! Instead of becoming ready to combat this, the central government decided to spend money on building. In Kerala, all NON-healthcare $$$ stopped. The government stepped up and it was a state government w/everyone that decided to have more Oxygen and ventilators and hospital equipment was vital. All of that credit goes to the Health Minister Shailaja teacher.

Me and my father got infected with covid 2 weeks before. Thankfully, we both are now fine and soon will be all right. But being in that mess has showed me how poor circumstances are right now in all over India. @@ibnu9969 The first one is a diuretic, it helps with high blood pressure or with edema. Zinc might be to replace zink that you might loose through urine, the latter I am not sure. What all of this has to do with Covid is another mystery.

I can’t fathom your current situation. My mother had covid back in July but recovered after a month. That whole experience feels like a distant dream. All I can remember is being stressed, crying a lot, and freaking out whenever she didn’t answer her phone. That experience was so traumatic my brain doesn’t want to go there. After this please get some therapy or support, you and your parents. May you remain healthy in all senses. My thoughts are with India lately and constantly. You guys deserve better.

I still remember some guys in internet said "nothing" you just lose everything, and paradise lost jokes....but when I look at India, God how lucky I am right now.
Not everything you see is real , this is coming from a person who has been directly impacted, there are several hospitals with vacant beds ,its just that the politically/ economically influential people get them. Even though i was ready to pay in cash, bed was denied for my father , we waited for 4-5 hours outside the hospital door, we literally begged to get my father a bed in a private hospital (Sigma hospital-Mysore , before reaching they confirmed that bed is available over phone). I had to take him else where , my father left us on 31st of May. My life will no longer be the same without my dad !

That’s really interesting, it must be the way we perceive it. I work in an OR and we use cauterising pens on patients all the time and I imagine the smell of burning flesh is similar but I only associate it with surgery and nothing more bc of the context 😳

My grandfather died 3 days ago, and believe me real figure is at least 15 times higher. The crematorium where my grandfather was cremated is dedicated specially for COVID patients. When I went there were 40 bodies already burning, while a new one arrived every 5 minutes. Much to my surprise there were bodies lying around who had no one from the relatives, to perform final rights, they were simply abandoned maybe because of taboo or fear of relatives, or maybe they were poor to perform last rites. And this is the tale when my grandfather was tested positive and got cremated in official COVID declared crematorium, the other side of story is much worse. In my contacts people have died without testing for COVID since the tests were taking time, or they were in self quarantine, and needed oxygen all of a sudden when it dropped, but of no avail, and died , they were cremated in outskirts of city. The one that I attended of such unofficial crematorium, the token number that we received was 150, when we reached at around 1PM , for the next 3 hours we still didn’t get to cremate the body because of such high inrush of dead bodies and already in line before. To all the people who are not from India or consider COVID a joke or hoax, pray to god this strain doesn’t reach you.
