I love this! Ordering seeds for some of these right now- i love adding native plants to my garden- the pollinators love them and they are so easy and beautiful.
This was very helpful and I never knew there was a list of these plants I'm getting older and I want to enjoy my garden it helps me a lot with my depression I can't wait for part 2 of your native plants thanks for sharing this to all of us Joanne from Circleville Ohio
Thanks for posting these videos. I appreciate your advice. I recently watched you divide newer nursery plants and now have more confidence in performing that operation. Last fall I divided some Japanese grass I bought on sale and worried that I did the wrong thing! It looked fine.
Last year I decided to start the process of transforming my beds over to native, I’ve never liked the maintenance of grass, with our climate changes it’s time to start, as I age, I will want less work 😊, I want to enjoy my garden and the visitors. Looking forward to part 2😊 My goal this year is 50/50 of native and what I already have.
Last summer we were listed as being in "extreme drought" after 3 years of no rain, no snow. Despite my watering many of my plants just never came up in the Spring. I was so depressed and honestly considering moving to an apartment. By the end of summer I could tell that the only plants that were surviving, and even thriving, were native plants! So this year I'm changing my focus to native plants!
Another great video, Michelle. I love butterfly weed, Joe Pye weed, the little native columbine, and last year I got a more manageable size of iron weed. I think it was called Southern Cross. This year I’m adding amsonia. Can’t wait till the next installment!
Showy Milkweed or Asclepia speciosa is more of a, west of the Mississippi River, milkweed. So you would have it there, but it does not grow in Illinois
Love this topic! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and plant suggestions.
