I put together (haven’t played yet) a Chaotic Good inquisitor paladin His personality is basically Alexander Anderson… from Hellsing ultimate Abridged. So… he’s going to kill a lot of people and enjoy doing it.
I once played a Paladin that was Lawful Good. At one point the party had to break in to a mansion to find a noble, that had been running a human trafficking ring, at a party. As that was illegal, I chose to wait outside the gate, getting more and more stressed and twitchy as I was waitingfor an legal excuse to enter. The party got into combat, forgot about me, and the noble made a run for it, getting away from the party. "Does he use the front gate?" I asked. "Yes, why-" the DM started, and then stared at me. I stared at him. The noble got hit with a critical greatsword hit with divine smite. Great time.

Hey, Lawful Good can be great. Remember, you are Lawful AND Good, not just one or the other; if you think the law is made by a tyrant, then by all means, join your party in overthrowing him. You can always make your characters interesting and fun, no matter what the alignment. What matters is how YOU play them.
Very true. I kind of can't play Lawful characters, most likely because I am a very Chaotic Good person in real life. But even my on-paper Lawful characters have a kind of rebellious streak. My Vengeance paladin character is Neutral Good.
A Lawful Good character would not join a rebellion to overthrow a tyrant, he would try to use the legal pathways available to put the tyrant through social and political scrutiny, present proof against him, and request for him to be removed and face trial for his actions, unable to do that, he would appeal to a higher authority/organization, be it of political or religious nature, so they set in motion the process that would reach the same conclusion, if all of that fails or is not an available option, he would attempt to organize the people into a governing structure of sorts, set down rules of conduct for it , and help them stablish themselves as a parallel and oficial administration in the region, now, pass all those points, and if the tyrant in question is violating all rules, both written and moral, then he will organize a resistance of sorts, for it is the right thing to do to bring order and care for the wellbeing of every citizen.
@@GonzaloDaveloza not necesseraly. Remember: Lawful does not mean “you follow the law.” It means you follow *your personal* laws or rules that you’ve set for yourself, and choosing Good, Evil, or Neutral would decide how you handle those rules. In context of the class, it makes a LOT of sense for a Paladin to be some form of Lawful because they usually try to follow within their oaths, though don’t let this stop you from thinking of something clever. I once played a Lawful Good Vengeance Paladin who’s personal thoughts on revenge were being happier than the person that screwed you over. A rich guy insults the poor? Improve the lifestyle for those who wish to improve themselves or their family’s future, and maybe pull some behind-the-scenes actions that ensure the rich guy isn’t gonna have the best lifestyle in the future. *Edit:* Also, Lawful good also DOES NOT mean you are stupid. Don’t go throwing around your personal rules like everyone should follow them. Remember, these are your *personal* rules. Your character should be more than aware that their personal rules are not the same as everyone else’s, but this doesn’t mean you can’t secretly disagree with things. Just inform your party at a safer time about how your character feels instead of making a grand speech to a local tyrant king and getting your party arrested.
Absolutely ! Especially since Lawful alignments are the more susceptible to live in society, so they have to make concessions sometimes. Think of the Jedi in the Star Wars Prequels for instance. They're especially concerned about other Jedi to follow the Code, but they will not ask non-Jedi to follow it, only the laws of the Republic.
I always share this when I can. Saying ther are 9 alignments is a deception. There's actually 25. *Lawful* good. Lawful Good. Or lawful *Good*. Would al fall under the larger LG category, the only one that's really a singular stretch of gray is TN. I can post the example I think when I get home but the basic idea is no two LG characters can act the same at a given scenario.
The Paladin and Rogue Team-up is a classic. Here's an example - Mountain Dwarf Paladin and Dhampir Tabaxi Rogue find themselves before a cave that has the captives that they are looking for. Rogue: There's likely a trap, and guards. Paladin: Most likely. Rogue: Mind being the Decoy while I sneak along the walls, and free the captives? Paladin: (Realizing what's up.) Sure thing. (Runs in) In the Name of - Uh oh! (Crash!) Cue Laughter. Kobold Guard 1: Armored Dwarf fell into pit! Kobold Guard 2: Very funny! Rogue: (Muttering) At least he's serving Decoy Duty. (Climbs along the cave walls, as the kobold guards laugh at the Paladin as he tries to climb up, only to trigger a wasp nest - falling back down.) Paladin: (Yells in Pain, due to being stung. Fails to climb out again.) Kobolds: (Laughter) Rogue: (Quietly frees the captives.) Kobold Guard 3: Why do I get the feeling that there's something dangerous behind us? Kobold Guard 4: (Turns, only to find himself looking at the Dhampir Tabaxi Rogue, who has an eerie grin on his face.) Rogue: Hello, Lunch! Kobold Guard 4: (Screams, just as the Rogue's fangs sink into his throat - getting the attentions of the rest.) Paladin: (Upon getting out of the pit, chops one of the distracted Kobolds in twain.) Kobold Guards: (Realizing that they are outmatched.) Run away! (The three survivors, including the bitten one, run out of the cave.) Paladin: You got something on your face. Rogue: (Gets out a cloth to clean their mouth.) You got something on yours. Paladin: (Uses Lay on Hands to deal with the wasp stings and such.) The prisoners? Rogue: (Points at the freed captives.) Get some weapons, and we might be able to utilize more hit-and-run type of fights.

I feel like a lot of people forget that Paladins don’t have a “master”, they have an Oath: they basically get powers from all of the entities that symbolize of certain thing, such as revenge, but don’t need to rly obey them. They get their powers from dedication to an ideal, not a contract with a god, that’s Celestial Warlock/sort of Cleric(they have domains, so it’s more just they follow a whole pantheon)
@@gaysarahk that is… entirely irrelevant to my point. Paladins of any alignment don’t serve a singular entity, but an ideal, such as revenge, loyalty, etc.
@@pokeredcraft3217 that is dedicated towards loyalty to the country, not directly to the king. If the government is corrupt, you can turn on them to protect the country, while maintaining your oath
@@A_Professional_Idiot_mk.2 Lawful paladins tend to exist in hierarchical organizations. That's more part of the definition of Lawful than anything to do with being a paladin.
My two favorite D&D characters are Lawful Neutral and Lawful Good. And the Lawful Neutral Ranger is such an accidental agent of chaos, because it turns out nothing makes a party panic like asking how taxes work in Dungeons and Dragons.
Took me a second to realise you're one of the people that puts the modifier in the big box, I thought you making some really special paladin with a strength of 2
You have uttered the forbidden words. You will soon mysteriously dissappear as if you never existed. Because you didn't. You are merely a shared delusion of a random 28 people on the internet.
I really love how Ranger is constantly neglected. However, my friend recently introduced me to a little book called BEASTHEART. Created by the one and only Mathew freakin Colville. The Beastheart is what the Ranger should have been. It's got so much. You start with a companion at level 1 (which is much better than a companion from Beast Master). As you level up, you get some cool stuff and your companion gets way stronger (without giving it Multiattack). The subclasses specialize into very different ways you have bonded with your companion. Wanna do some demonic crap? It's there. Wanna focus on being super naturistic? There too. Can't think of any magical items for your companion or yourself. Well buckle up bucko because there a few you can choose from. Also, if you are guessing that the Beastheart would have a very limited selection of companions or a selection in which a majority of them are very weak, then you are wrong. There are not 3, not 5, not 10, but 15 different companions (which range from a Basalisk, a Bullet, an owlbear, a hellhound, a gelatinous cube, and even a mimic. Yeah, that's right. You can have a gelatinous cube as a pet. AND! There are individual statblocks for each of the 15 companions and a guide on how to make your own companion. And if you are complaining that the Beastheart doesn't fit your style or if you want to stick with the class you are now but still want that pet. Let me whisper something to you, "You don't have to be a Beastheart to have a companion". That's right, there are rules to have a companion in your campaign without needing the Beastheart class. It's really cool and I enjoy this a lot. I am currently playing one in my friends campaign and I can't tell you how excited I am to play this character.

Evil Paladins make no sense to me. Antipaladins are by design an oxymoron. Now, a chaotic good paladin is absolutely awesome RP-wise. Start as a LG Paladin and discover over time how restrictive and in many instances outright bad it is to be a law-zealot. Slowly remake your lawfulness into following your own code instead of condoning/enforcing slavery and forced concubinage just because the country you travelled to has those enshrined as institutions.
Lawful doesnt mean you follow the literal law. It means you follow a code or a set of rules. A lawful paladin could still break fhe citys laws if it follows his oath
I have tried for a good chunk of my life to be Lawful Good instead of Chaotic Good. I regret trying to change who I am instead of simply finding people who will accept me.
Honestly, being lawful good isn't so bad, as long as you don't play it like a law obsessed zealot. The main problem with some players playing lawful good is that they play it as LAWFUL.. attacking their warlock, necromancer or handing their thief over to the guards despite how one of the best traits of being lawful is being loyal, loyal to the group, not just the rules of whatever city you're in.
Watching this made me reflect on what I believe paladins should and should not do. What they should do is BE the example of the ideals they believe in.What they should not do is be authoritarian or preachy, leave that for the cleric. The behavior guidelines say that a paladin should not keep company with those that offend his moral values. They do not say she must convert every sinner she meets. This line of though created an interesting character idea. Instead of playing a paladin, why not play a bard who conducts himself as a paladin? You could reward actions that are in line with your beliefs while not supporting actions that are contrary to them without all the drama that arises when players try to enforce their views on others. Be the carrot rather than the stick.
yeah, I tried to play a paladin once, it lasted One Session. I named Him, "Grimoire Gosword" I WANTED to make him a bit of a Scholar who was Devoted to Preserving Historic Contexts, such as Taking random Rubbings from Engravings and Being against Their destruction. BUT instead, I got Placed On Fucking GUARD duty for a PLAYER character... also, I wasn't able to put up with My alignment thought process for shit. and I played it less like a magic user and more like a fighter. very quickly got annoyed by its very playstyle, and BAM requested a Re roll, that lasted at least two chapters of our campaign. as a fighter. shame too, Cause i really wanted to like that character *sad face*
This reminded me of playing Baldur’s Gate II as a kid and constantly running into Anomen Delryn’s romance dialogue. Let me tell ya, it doesn’t matter whether they are good or neutral, as long as lawful is dialed up to eleven you’ll want to strangle them in their sleep.
I am used to YT unsubbing me from channels, but did anyone else get unsubbed when OSQ changed their channel name? I was wondering why I haven't seen the content lately.
"Should I be concerned that you've made so many of us in a short time?" Nah. It just means that I read some lore. [makes five elves in a day after reading the Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes elf lore]
But Vegan Ace Paladins definitely can! If they drink mead they already broke their oath, same with milk, eating cheese, eggs or meat. All of those break the oath of vegan ace. Heck, even wearing padded, leather, studded leather or hide armor, leather shoes, wool or anything like that already breaks that darned oath!
@@BroodingEdgelord When I say wool, I am referring to the type of fabric, which is harvested from sheep. Gambeson, aka padded armor, may be made from wool, cotton, silk, linen, hemp, or even leather, which would allow that kind specifically to be made without "exploiting animals", and would allow the "Vegan Ace" to use it. If your shoes or clothes, or even cloaks and tents or backpack, pouches and waterskins, are made from leather or wool, that would not be "vegan". I unfortunately know of this because I studied Veterinary Medicine in a very left leaning university 😓 To the vegans, nothing you use may have "exploited animals", be it from being made of a material extracted from an animal, a material shed by a confined animal, something plant based tested on animals, or using animal labor. In other words, they throw a hissy fit if they learn the supplier of the supplier of the supplier of their favorite "I can't believe it's not meat!" once owned a farm where animals lived. 😒
I recently played a Ranger. Admittedly, it was just in a oneshot, not a full campaign. I picked the Swarmkeeper Conclave, from Unearthed Arcana, and it was honestly really fun. Web came in super handy!

Have u ever seen or done a paladin that tries to recruit people into his faith at the worst times, like he just knocked someone prone crouches down and says "do you you have time to talk about the all seeing cthulu?"
I love making characters that look very basic on the surface but aren't as others might think. Lawful good human noble paladin, oath of devotion. Wouldn't do anything that she thinks could affect others negatively. She wants to support the party and guide them however she can, but knows that they're individuals and won't make them do something they wouldn't want to do, not really the "hold the rest of the world to the same standards" from the oath of devotion description kinda person. However, she will try talking to them, like the warlock that hated working with the party and almost got one of them killed, she made her go through a bit of character development, realizing that she wouldn't be able to really do much on her own with what they were going against. She fell in love with the party's blood hunter, you know, the ones that use blood curses to fight. She doesn't care about the nature of this magic, because she knows the blood hunter still fights for good, as her oath is not with a god, but with justice itself
Lawful Good Redemption Paladin here! I'm not certain the effects of a lawful alignment are as world-changing as shown here, or I might have to roll death saves more often. However, as the youngest of the party, I am also the one with usually the least say in what we end up doing, and I witness some... disturbing things as a result sometimes (and sometimes party members have to tell me to look away from certain more disturbing things). My combat experience so far has been trying and failing to stop NPCs from being skewered (sometimes by party members), getting sad about the things the party does to get by, and being dropped to 0 before I can take any meaningful combat actions because for some reason, a third of the encounters I get in, I get critically hit turn one, and in almost all other cases, my attempts at deescalating or breaking up the fight do absolutely nothing. Also, I'm a robot styled from a Warforged, so I can't be healed very easily in-combat. I have "killed" one creature all campaign, and he was a walking corpse possessed by a demon, so I'm not certain this counts.
At first I thought the layered audio in the sponsorship was a joke (like the wall was interrupting the barbarian or vice-versa). Then I saw the end title card show up twice and realized it wasn’t part of the plan.
We had a game once with a Paladin, warlock and 2 very different clerics but the only god each were associated with was the DM themselves. So the warlock had made a pact with the DM and the rest were dedicated to him. It made for hilarious roleplay!

I played with a Paladin who was a pretty good example of how I feel Paladins are SUPPOSED to be played. He didn't adhere to every written law he came across, but he had his own code that he followed without question (the player himself was really good about finding excuses for Utak to be looking the other way when the rest of the party wanted to do something that would prompt Utak to start a fight). Aside from his weird hatred of poor people (which was never violent, he just didn't like to associate with them for some reason), he was a pretty upstanding guy. Helped those in need, protected the weak, never killed or exploited innocent people willingly, and beat the shit out of evil wizards, evil genies, and the like. He was a bit egotistical and liked to flaunt his adventuring money, but, honestly, he was perfectly capable of backing up most of his claims of being amazing. He was also pretty dumb, so he kind of just trusted that the rest of the party had his back and weren't lying to him about anything. Which, was how the game went, mostly. They DID lie to him about murdering the douchebag Rogue a second time. I wasn't there, but apparently they killed him once and Utak brought him back to be arrested or something and then they killed him again while Utak was in the other room and told Utak he had run away because "you know how tricky those Rogues are". Utak found this an acceptable explanation and, for the rest of the game, the party would occasionally "let slip" something about the Rogue's death which would prompt a humorous round of questioning from Utak and lying from whoever else which always ended in Utak believing the original story again. The rogue's player had moved out of state and, frankly, most of us didn't really like him anyway. He was VERY like...low-key racist. Just saying and doing things that were not ok but, honestly, I think the guy just genuinely didn't realize they weren't. However, he refused to believe ANYONE when we told him they were. The black guys, the white guys, didn't matter. He was also one of those D&D players that had to "win" the game. I think that's what got on everyone's nerves more than the racism. (As I recall, there was only one black guy, who we'll call D, at the table by the time the rogue's player left and D thought it was HILARIOUS how obliviously racist this guy was. D was a bit of a weirdo, but in a good way.)

That's brilliant!!
Lawful Good vengance?
Sweet
@@Blitzwaffen correct.
The Paladin and Rogue Team-up is a classic. Here's an example -
Mountain Dwarf Paladin and Dhampir Tabaxi Rogue find themselves before a cave that has the captives that they are looking for.
(Crash!)
Cue Laughter.
Kobold Guard 1: Armored Dwarf fell into pit!
Kobold Guard 2: Very funny!
Rogue: (Muttering) At least he's serving Decoy Duty. (Climbs along the cave walls, as the kobold guards laugh at the Paladin as he tries to climb up, only to trigger a wasp nest - falling back down.)
Paladin: (Yells in Pain, due to being stung. Fails to climb out again.)
Kobolds: (Laughter)
Rogue: (Quietly frees the captives.)
Kobold Guard 3: Why do I get the feeling that there's something dangerous behind us?
Kobold Guard 4: (Turns, only to find himself looking at the Dhampir Tabaxi Rogue, who has an eerie grin on his face.)
Rogue: Hello, Lunch!
Kobold Guard 4: (Screams, just as the Rogue's fangs sink into his throat - getting the attentions of the rest.)
Paladin: (Upon getting out of the pit, chops one of the distracted Kobolds in twain.)
Kobold Guards: (Realizing that they are outmatched.) Run away! (The three survivors, including the bitten one, run out of the cave.)
Paladin: You got something on your face.
Here's a better example
Paladin: stab
Rogue: also stab
Enemy: dies
Paladin: yay
Rogue: yay

Glad this got re-uploaded!
Though, the first one got took down at the bit where he's begging to not be evil just before it says good, the video stopped and gave an error message saying it wasn't available... I thought it was a spectacular bit you were playing on us, then I noticed the timer wasn't moving... 🤣😂😅
Also, wal-barian is a great addition! 👍
0:11 how cute he thinks they even got played
I remember when this was the most chaotic ad read ever. I completely understand why you reuploaded it, though it did bring smile to my face.
He didn't say "master" until he became a *Lawful* Good Paladin.
@@gaysarahk that is… entirely irrelevant to my point. Paladins of any alignment don’t serve a singular entity, but an ideal, such as revenge, loyalty, etc.
@@A_Professional_Idiot_mk.2 May I point you towards Oath of the Crown
Took me a second to realise you're one of the people that puts the modifier in the big box, I thought you making some really special paladin with a strength of 2
Poor ranger still waiting for his character sheet to be finished. They aren't actually that bad really I recently played one and they are good.
I mean, Tasha's ranger are beef now.
You have uttered the forbidden words. You will soon mysteriously dissappear as if you never existed. Because you didn't. You are merely a shared delusion of a random 28 people on the internet.
best class ever, my ranger was god in the last campaign
they're good, but you're not supposed to say that
I really love how Ranger is constantly neglected.

Man, Now I want to see a Walbarian Character concept where the barbarian Only is able to Communicate by throwing his voice around via walls.
Best paladin is one that starts Lawful good, breaks their oath and becomes Lawful Evil. The slow decent into evilness is amazing
arkhan:AHEM.
Cliché...
The best Paladin is one that doesn’t start as a Paladin
Evil Paladins make no sense to me. Antipaladins are by design an oxymoron. Now, a chaotic good paladin is absolutely awesome RP-wise. Start as a LG Paladin and discover over time how restrictive and in many instances outright bad it is to be a law-zealot. Slowly remake your lawfulness into following your own code instead of condoning/enforcing slavery and forced concubinage just because the country you travelled to has those enshrined as institutions.
you mean the train crash that happens on the first 15 minutes of the first session?
Oh,... the deleted video was a messed up one. I was like "strange new concept for an ad"
Lawful doesnt mean you follow the literal law.
It means you follow a code or a set of rules. A lawful paladin could still break fhe citys laws if it follows his oath
When the new player turns into an alt aholic because they can't figure out what they want to play
I have tried for a good chunk of my life to be Lawful Good instead of Chaotic Good. I regret trying to change who I am instead of simply finding people who will accept me.
"Should I be concerned that you made so many characters in such a short time?"
Me: I DO NOT NEED AN INTERVENTION, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM.
Something I want to do is a sort of modification of the blackguard paladin as the equivalent of a trickery domain cleric, so chaotic, but still good.
yeah, I tried to play a paladin once, it lasted One Session.
I named Him, "Grimoire Gosword"
I WANTED to make him a bit of a Scholar who was Devoted to Preserving Historic Contexts, such as Taking random Rubbings from Engravings and Being against Their destruction.
BUT instead, I got Placed On Fucking GUARD duty for a PLAYER character...
also, I wasn't able to put up with My alignment thought process for shit. and I played it less like a magic user and more like a fighter. very quickly got annoyed by its very playstyle, and BAM requested a Re roll, that lasted at least two chapters of our campaign. as a fighter.
shame too, Cause i really wanted to like that character
*sad face*
It doesn't matter how merciful your paladin is you will still use most of your spell slots on SMITE, so it's not that bad being lawful good.
Ad-barian have never seen such sophisticated magic like flashing lights on the wall
"Should I be concerned that you've made so many of us in a short time?" Nah. It just means that I read some lore. [makes five elves in a day after reading the Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes elf lore]
paladin: an evil paladin isn't as good as you think!
evil paladin: Hellish Rebuke
I’m hoping he does some skits involving a Artificer.
This is why I usually default to neutral good. Much more grey area.
Vengeance paladins can't break their oath.
*vengeance
But Vegan Ace Paladins definitely can! If they drink mead they already broke their oath, same with milk, eating cheese, eggs or meat. All of those break the oath of vegan ace. Heck, even wearing padded, leather, studded leather or hide armor, leather shoes, wool or anything like that already breaks that darned oath!
@@carlosforma5978 That's just a poor paladin. Also, its not wool armour. It's called a gambeson.
I unfortunately know of this because I studied Veterinary Medicine in a very left leaning university 😓
To the vegans, nothing you use may have "exploited animals", be it from being made of a material extracted from an animal, a material shed by a confined animal, something plant based tested on animals, or using animal labor. In other words, they throw a hissy fit if they learn the supplier of the supplier of the supplier of their favorite "I can't believe it's not meat!" once owned a farm where animals lived. 😒
@@carlosforma5978 I'm saying that if they do something good, they wont oathbreak. But, it's also nice to know someone who know the topic.

That drop-in animation was beautiful.
I don't remember reading Lawful Neutral, but that seems to be what's referenced at 1:33.
You can feel the pain in His voice when He turns Lawful Good
Lawful Good Redemption Paladin here!
Can't wait to see Mr. Daty get to level 3 xD
I'm glad he went with the wall-barian portmanteau instead of the ad-wall version.
At first I thought the layered audio in the sponsorship was a joke (like the wall was interrupting the barbarian or vice-versa). Then I saw the end title card show up twice and realized it wasn’t part of the plan.
«The other characters are probably still alive» well as i never got to play them, you are technically not wrong.
We had a game once with a Paladin, warlock and 2 very different clerics but the only god each were associated with was the DM themselves. So the warlock had made a pact with the DM and the rest were dedicated to him. It made for hilarious roleplay!

Oath of Throwing it Back is too good to let go of
I played with a Paladin who was a pretty good example of how I feel Paladins are SUPPOSED to be played.
Where does this throw it back joke come from? I've heard it a dozen times from you, but don't understand the joke.
