It is, but it totally isn’t. It’s a TD2 crossed with a Super Champ, but completely unique in its own right. Very impressed with this buggy. Hope Tamiya continues the trend. A new motor on axle Monster Truck would be cool if anyone from Tamiya is reading this.
Thanks for the share. What a great build! I'm 52 and about to take my first dive into kit building. Love this. I know this is a year on but after the benefit of time was the motor setup in this video a keeper (8.5T with 21 pinion)? Great colour too. Love the rusted look :)
Thanks man. I’m sure there are a couple more videos you’d like. The MF01 Xtreme is a pretty cool build, and it’s also in Tamiya copper. Love that color!
I drive them all hard. 😂 This one will be back. Want to do some speed runs with it. Might throw my Arrma Infraction 3s tires on it and see if that helps with stability at speed.
Nice seeing it run in the water. I like your Servo too. I grabbed some nice parts from GPM for this. They make an alloy diff housing and metal diff gears. I wanted to keep the stock suspension arms since they are the nicer plastic. I don’t have the BBZ yet 😅 I am looking into a brushless /sensored motor and esc to match. Nothing too fast, mainly torque for off-road bashing. Any suggestions?
Anything Hobbywing is a good bet. My set up is quite expensive, but ai wanted the tiny esc to fit under the cover. Also, turbo! A 10.5 turn Max 10 combo would be good. That’s what I am putting in my Squash Van eventually.
@@Triggered-RC hobbywing are a good one. I am leaning towards a castle combo of mamba x and brushless sensored 1406-4600 or 1406-5600. Very good deal atm
Great Video! Certainly, a powerful setup you got there! Was the choice of steel gear differential right in your opinion after driving and testing the car? Do you remember the color code can you used?
@@Triggered-RC Yeah already watched those. Nice work! Love what you did there. Something I am also very interested in doing. Love the 4x4 upgrades. I was thinking of just throwing a pro ling bug body on my Traxxas clone 4x4 mash up. But your build looks a lot more fun but expensive?
Very similar to the Super Champ which I have the original early 80s one as a shelf queen.
Love it!

And last question - is that LiPo 2s or 3s?
Thanks! The motor and pinion were a keeper. I think that’s about as fast as you’d want this kit to go though.
2s
Thanks for the video. First time I’ve seen something of yours. Love the mountains there. beautiful. I love the colour you chose. Rc is the best.

Great scenery too!
Wow looks quick
I just bought this kit and it will be my first build at 52 hope I can get it done
It’s a great kit to build. Mine is running an 8.5 turn brushless with turbo. So it’s quite quick.
Beautiful car. Love the fact you still drove it hard too.

Great idea, keen to see what it’s capable of.
Super-cool video/revieuw!
I want to build and drive one too!
Thanks!
Love the colour.
Might become my channel color. Have 3 rigs painted in copper now.
bbx is a beautiful buggy,love it 👍👍😀 subscribed 😀👍👍
Thanks for the subscription! I agree, it is quite an amazing buggy. New Old School as I called it. The best thing Tamiya has released in years.

I think gear diff was the right choice. Have a feeling I would have melted my ball diff with this set up. Paint is PS-14.
I like the colour you choose is it metallic orange?
Thanks! It’s Tamiya copper.
I have a couple videos of my MF01x up as well, also painted in Tamiya copper. You can check them out.

Why The music..
Why not?
