      Nothing wrong with liking quality products. The only market segment they don't cater to is double action revolvers. It's really quite amazing when you think about it. To the best of my knowledge they are the only quality producing manufacturer that covers that broad a share of the market.

    The APX when you hold it it feels like it becomes a part of you. Absolutely amazing design. The Storm never took off because it is more expensive than the proven, legendary 92. This is why the APX is priced lower than the 92. I think the APX is one of the best pistols on the market.

      I agree. It has that 80s Sci-Fi look which I love. In my opinion, just add more grip to the side straps and it's the perfect hammer fired handgun.

    • @tonynorris1506
      @tonynorris1506 4 года назад

      My 2 biggest gripes on the Storm are the fact it is slab sides in the area where the trigger finger rests (and thumb on opposite side) like most brands). Also the fact the feed ramp is a part of the magwell and it has to be racked hard, if guided forward or released a tad too late, the round gets stuck, takes a gentle tap, but I assume the APX is the same.
      Also, wondering if the APX serrations would hurt your support hand thumb if you use the grip where your support hand thumb can sometimes rest partially against the edge of the slide.
      Just wondering if it will F your finger up after a mag or so. (Or maybe train to keep that support hand fully at 45 degrees downward, lol).

    Your detailed comparative review was greatly appreciated. I have the PX4 and you can emphasize double tap drills to master both trigger pulls evenly. I wounder if the DA/SA is associated with fewer accidental shootings than the DAO striker fired gun. If you have limited funds to purchase and train, then the APX is a good choice.

Here we are nearly 5 years later and the APX is still relatively forgotten in favor of the current bloated micro mini with light, laser, optic, extended mag fad😂. The Storm will be acquired soon….

    I can 100% confirm that the creep goes away after ~250 shots. Mine at the beginning felt like a 2 stage trigger, whereas now it breaks beautifully (for a polimer, striker fired gun of course). Regarding the interchangeable grip frames, it would be much better if they allowed you to put different sizes. However, it is a great feature when you want to thorougly clean the entire gun (I do it every 800-1000 shots). Just pop out the trigger assembly, clean it up nicely, rinse the separated frame with tap water and you are good to go.

  • @Khanclansith

    Really the PX4 Storm had not been made to replace the '92. Like it's predecessor, the Cougar, it's a pistol designed specifically for law enforcement. It's built around the .40 S&W cartridge and for better concealability than the 92. That's also why there are the "D" and "C" versions, that are not so popular among civilians, but are favourite by many police departments.

    • @luciol.5648
      @luciol.5648 5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely YES!!! I work in law enforcement and till a couple years ago I had a 92 for duty and even a 92 (here the correct name is 98 'cause we shoot in 9x21) as a sporting shooter. Then I received the autorization to change 98 with the new Px4 and duty carry, even in civilian clothes, has change completely. Same affordablity but less weight, less bulk, less complaint and pain during the inside carry.. More accuracy and more operative life (25.000 Vs 50.000 rounds)
      Sorry for the old 92 but in my opinion nowadays modern guns, expecially strikers, has beaten the italian glory.. still a great weapon, but it was conceived for the army, not for police or law enforcements who has other requirements and ways of action.

The APX was designed to enter the competition to replace the Beretta M9 as the standard US military handgun. They were looking to sell 10s of thousands handguns to be used in many variations to be used by a wide variety of shooters. A single size gun (even with replaceable backstraps), might be too big for the application. With this system (and Sig's), a single gun can be a full size, a compact or a sub-compact. Very practical when purchasing thousands of units. Better to simply replace the grip rather than have 3 completely different size guns in inventory (a logistical nightmare.

    I may end up getting a PX4. I live in California so not a lot of options for me. I'm trained on the Ruger p95. I have about 11,000 rounds through that gun. I'm looking for something similar. The Compact version does interest me a lot. I think my reluctance comes from wondering how reliable it is and also how well the finish holds up. I seen a lot of them take on a lot of wear early on. But those were from pretty old videos tbh. I was thinking a compact type G. If we ever get our carry laws straightened out here I could at least have one that's carry size (I'm 6'3 and I think I could handle it). With the 10 round mag limit not sure between 9mm and .40. I hear .40 is going to be a dead platform but locally it seems alive and well. I wanted an ambi semi auto with the ability to add night sights and a light and or laser for the nightstand. So far it covers my criteria more than the glocks cuz we only get gen 3 here and they aren't ambi like gen 5. The m9a1 and 92fs can't get a front night sight and they are a bit heftier. The CZs are fantastic but also not ambi and way, way too heavy for a 10+1 imho. So I think the Px4 and a Cx4 carbine combo is where my interests lie for now.

    Did you ever notice that due to the Feedramp of the PX4 Storm (being the rotating barrel has no ramp) that if you ride the slide, it Jams up?
    It will fix with a tap on the back, is the APX the same?
    I assume the ramp, which may even have polymer of the steel plate in the feedramp should have been polished.
    I've heard that when the APX was introduced at the Showshow event, that they told everyone to "sling shot" the slide, being I assume if you ride it remotely, the round gets caught up a tad.
    Wondering also how long it took yours to smooth out.
    You can even try it now.

    Damn, Zeke is one handsome somabitch.
    Excellent reviews, I'm in the Beretta camp myself and am fortunate enough to own these lovely ladies (though my 92 is an older FS) and Beretta Cougar 8357. Would still love to find a 90 two somewhere but I'm not holding my breath. Excellent Firearms, 500 years one passion 😉

    The 92 Will forever remain a classic just like an HK MP5.
    All replacement Will be based on its success.
    The Px4 is beautiful. The revolving barrell is pure genius.
    The APX is an amazing gun, but misses the "bang factor" with impressions and opinions. Maybe because it was a totally different design from previous models.

      Gorgeous and comfortable, but really hard to carry iwb, really fat, and I found it hard to shoot accurately.

    I too love my Beretta's. 92FS, Px4 in 9mm (2) and 40 S&W. However, I'm old school and just feel more comfortable w/ the external safety which as noted is not on the APX. So I'm I to understand that the ONLY safety on the APX is the trigger safety? Not sure I could ever feel comfortable w/o an external safety. That's just me. I also like a decocker. Nice review.

    Like the "Original Beretta" comment, but google the "Beretta 1915", you'll see the beginning of the design of the 92 specially from the trigger guard to the front of the pistol, love the video, from a Beretta fan, big time!

    Ouch, I feel bad for you Canadian guys. I bought my Beretta 92 for $590 I bought my PX4 Storm for $440 and I do not own the APX but our price on it is from $320 to $350. In a way I'm surprised the Army went with the Sig P320 over the Beretta 92, When I think of pistols I always see a Beretta 92 in my mind it is a fantastic firearm. I like my Sig P320 compact but it doesn't shoot near as good as the 92 does, the thing is it is WAY lighter and it is cheaper for the Army to buy the Sigs, which is most likely why the Sig got the contract.

    The safety on the Storm i believe is better when charging it kinda holds rather than pivoting down like the 92/M9 ( almost feels sharper if you will )

    The reason for the modularity of the APX is to allow the owner the ability to change the overall size. That feature allows you to make it more concealable without the need to buy multiple versions of it. Add I the changeable back straps makes it a much better handgun over the Sig and some of the S&WM&P models. Beretta did it right buy making a optic mounting plate for their non milled slides on the APX allowing you to update that model and save money in the long haul. When you compare that to the Sig 320, To me Beretta is the better option.

    Why does the PX4 barrel extend past the slide? I've had 2 PX4 Storm compacts & neither one had a extended barrel.

    • @vkyle91x
      @vkyle91x  4 года назад

      gtracer66 it’s because of Canadian laws, the barrel has to have a minimum length to be legal. Beretta extends the barrel to make it available in Canada

    PX4 Storm is one of the best pistols you can get....dare i say one of the most under-rated pistols ever made. Get one now if you can because I feel like they are going to be sought after and prices are going to climb once people realize what they've missed out on.
