{hugs} Jen your storage ideas rock! As an older 'collecter' & home health aide, I must warn about recycling's dark side--hoarding. Stress, fear, loss can trigger it, yet the sufferer is unaware. If hobbies /collecting begin to take over couches, beds, tables, counters, eating areas, walkways.. if you can't say no to acquiring, but continue to buy/collect.. if family/friends seem concerned.. those are major symptoms. Watching 'Hoarders' or reading about it can help everyone stay clear.

Really loved this video, but what I love is how "purposeful" you are as you save things. You don't just save to be saving, you have general ideas in mind for most everything, and you seem very good at not letting the collecting, get out of hand and take over your space. You really amaze me!

Oh I could cry I thought I was the only person that collected a whole load of bits n' pieces, things that I say will come in handy sometime. Thankyou for letting me know I'm not the only one out there, infact reading down the comments has never made me happier, woohoo.

I love this video. This is my second time watching it. I'm drooling over your buttons and metal bits and pieces. I've been working on giving my studio a good clean out and I have so much stuff. Don't know why I want more. It's just so much fun to collect and imagine what you can do with it. We should do a swap. Thank you for your visit on my blog and your nice comments.

I'm with you, Jenniebellie--I, too, collect things that make my daughters and husband roll their eyes and sigh, but I can't see just loading the landfills with beautiful things I can turn into art. Some of your treasures are just beautiful, and I know you'll make something spectacular with them! I can't wait to see your works!

OMG - my husband thinks i'm the only one who hoards things like this... I have allsorts just like you, only because we have a large garage - I tend to go large with the collecting of stuff... I also keep the boxes that cat food pouches have come in, dishwasher tablet boxes (very sturdy), lots and lots of tubes, tins, glass jars and pringles tubes - quite a few!!! Thanks for making me feel a bit more normal for collecting all of this stuff... I need to go to a few more car boot sales though as I don't have all of those recycled belts etc but such a great idea. Love your channel! Paula x x

My husband makes fun of me b/c I want to keep things that most people throw away. I had been waiting for him to empty a coffee can to put with my craft items and he through it away. I got so upset with him.. LOL!! Everytime he empted a coffee can he'd throw them away and I have been wanting to keep them. I love to keep things like that and repurpose them! I love looking on RUclips for new ideas on repurposing items that most people would normally throw out! I think that is one of my favorite type of crafting now. Love your videos and thank you for sharing all your ideas. Blessing to you :)

Although this is an old video I was thrilled to find it. I also have quite a collection, a lot of it came from a friend who had owned a second hand store but was at this point retired. She had a whole bag of old and broken jewelry that she gave me. I of course have used a lot of it by now, but I still have some of it and have collected more since. I went through a period of making bead jewelry and then went off that hobby for a while. I am now starting to make jewelry again along with many other arts and crafts and am finding uses for all the things I have collected. I also have quite a collection of fabric samples that I found at a thrift store for $1 a book. I took all 4 of them!!!! Thrift stores are the best for art supplies as you find so many unique things no one else has!!!

Thank you so much, sweetie, again for a FAB video!! I kept wanting to reach out and touch pieces of your treasure! I was oooo-ing and aaaw-ing as if I were watching fireworks or something! LOL Yes, I have literally piles of treasures in my bedroom/art room and your tips were so helpful as to how to organize! I have some in bins and storage containers, but you have given me so many new ideas! Thank you!

Seeing this makes me think you might be a long lost sister or something! Except you are the way more organised version :) I keep everything and hate throwing pretty stuff away but never get around to using most things so thank you for making me feel better about "hoarding" as over the years people have been very impatient with my "don't make me throw it, one day I'll make something out of it" attitude. Hopefully now my saved things in many many boxes taking up space will get a new life!

Lol...I love it! I have the collecting thing down pat but spend every January trying to find a way to keep it organized. My favorite part was your use of old shirts. My significant other is gone for several months. An email last week started with, "On a scale of 1 to 10 how angry would you be if I cut up a couple of your shirts." Thanks for sharing your treasures!

  • @jennibellie

wow this is such praise, you make me feel almost not guilty for holding onto as much stuff as I do lol but yes I do try and use everything, I think it's a waste to collect something and never use it (that's why I try not to keep any nice scrapbook papers for those 'special' projects and just use what I feel like), at the same time though I only have one pair of hands and wonder if I'll ever manage to get through it lol thanks for all your lovely comments

My goodness, I wish I could just come to your place and spend a day looking and touching all your treasures! You could charge admission =) Thanks for the ideas. I'm getting there, slowly but surely, but wow I have a lot of stuff! It has to be organized, or I just never use it. I love the idea of housing things in those large shopping bags. I seem to have a lot of them from my Mom's stash, and this is a great idea.

Yes 'collecting' being the operative word as they always seem to take more...lol and I'm creating out of these nearly every day, yet somehow they still manage to grow!! But don't feel bad about collecting, better it be waiting to be used than in the landfill!!!

  • @jennibellie
    @jennibellie  12 лет назад +1

Thank you Diana, I know I'm the same, I know I don't NEED more, but that doesn't mean I don't want it lol but I try and limit my bigger collections - such as vintage ephemera until I have used a significant amount for the space required to fill it again. In the beginning I just collected everything I wanted, now my space is low I have to be more careful and use what I have. I'll msg you re: a swap, sounds like fun :) xx

hey, great vid and love to see all the baubles and bits! and yes, i agree, if you have your findings organized, you are more likely to use them. Once you start making a concerted effort to use found items, junk mail etc...there is so much of it! And it can get out of hand fast. (Ask me how i know....:-)

I know we live in different countries, but is there a website for the company who makes those FANTASTIC 3-tier deep storage boxes you keep your beads in? I've subscribed to you and SOMEDAY I want to attempt several things you have shown in your videos. (I've been thinking of making a journal of sorts for my 7 year-old great-granddaughter who has moved out of state.) She LOVES paper!

This is why I don’t start a new craft. I have yarn for knitting, card stock for making cards, and more fabric than I want to say. We crafty ppl keep lots of things. I have so many things I want to make. My mom was the same way. I told her she could go shopping in her garage. Now it is me. I have so many good books to read. Last night I went shopping in my bookcase. It is so hard to let go of things. We must remember love ppl not things. Or use things not ppl.
