If KOL ever re release one song it should be Fans! To this day still, only the Brit's and a select few of us on this side of the pond, know it's one the the Best songs they have ever done!
Remember being in the crowd for this, at the time I didn't really know who they were as a band and only knew Fans, but when they played this, you looked around & could tell, the gig was just, epic, you could tell it was an important gig for them & they smashed the living shit out of it. Looking back at it now, you can just see how close it is to studio. The first headline band I ever saw live at Glastonbury. Honored to be there.
Yeah, they had a song on one of the FIFA Soccer video games. I used to enjoy running on the treadmill while watching live soccer games. they started as old school, raw, simple southern rock and they pride themselves on that all the old 2:15 songs of just pure energy, no effects or w.e.. you cant take anything away from them look at all of the good music they've written. Theyre a good ass band and all just as musically talented as bands that jam for 8 minutes on every song live. just a different style thats all. I saw them and it was the best concert ive ever seen if youre not moving every second of it u dont have a pulse
I love pretty much everything they have done, and i am totally on board with all the new stuff. I really like the old stuff too. But their last 2 albums have totally blown me away. When i listened to Because of the times first i was like Woah this is EPIC and Only by the night provoked a similar reaction. I LOVE the direction they are moving in, I don't care that they cut their hair or are more styled now. They are still amazing and the best band in the world right now.
caleb says he will never make a pop record again. jared says he hates use somebody, then caleb said if somebody covers use somebody once more he'll cut their fucking throats. :) that was in a spin article. i cant wait for the new album. we'll look back in 5 years and say only by the night was a mistake, and the new album will put them back on track (y&ym/ASH days)
kol are more than just the indie hipsters the critics pen them as. they are a truly great rock band. im so sick of people complaining that they sold out with the latest record.

@steeshlad only by the night wasn't a bad album! I think all the media attention it got makes old school KOL fans hate the album. Remember they worked really hard on it! Can't say I'm a HUGE fan of the album but I do like it! BOTT and CASD are my favourites, but ASH and OBTN aren't far behind.

@steeshlad not being daft but you cant call an album a mistake you cannot say that each album is different to the last so they do experiment and to be honest they might hate as its become so popular and their gonna be stuck as sex on fire and use somebody as their flag ships songs and it is stupid how many people cover it but with what i think as good older album songs like notion cold desert 17 reverly i think those songs deserve to be shown respect as they are good songs over looked
@akaBanKsy in fairness i wrote that 6 months ago. i was hyde park on 30th june and ive heard radioactive, immortals southbound and mary. they're alot better than obtn and i agree they sound more bott than early albums. radioactive reminds me of a more finished 'soft'.
all these comments about only by the night being a mistake. musically maybe, but if they didnt make that album the record label would have dropped them !... bitter sweet i guess, now they are safe and can go back to 4kicks etc...
i don't think that "only by the night" was that bad, i think that is had two really poppy mainstream songs, but the rest is actually pretty edgy and sounds exactly like there typical style.
Your music is awesome; it's just that your public wouldn't know good music if it smacked them on the head. How Kings of Leon are still not Kings of America is beyond me.

what about ACDC? Even angus admits they are a 3 chord band. KOL first 3 albums were amazing, and they got very little credit for it. last album was their worst, and it made them massive.

i think what you're all failing to realize is the last 2 albums by them are the ones getting closer and closer to who they really are, the first 2 albums while they wrote the words were really attempts at sounding like the rolling stones and southern bands, give them time they are growing
