I purchased a 7300 as my first HF radio, having a General license. When I sat down with it, I felt as if maybe I made a mistake by getting too much radio for someone so new to ham radio. Your videos are short, to the point, and easy to follow along to. I no longer feel like a complete idiot, and I now understand how to use this incredible radio. Thanks for all of your hard work in making these. I appreciate these more than you can imagine.
I purchased my 7300 a few months ago. I haven't powered it up yet and I have to test for the tecnition to Grandfather for my General. All I've done is occasionally listen for the last few decades. I'm old as dirt now and once again have the bug. I love CW and I'm only good at copying up to 20wpm. I have a good fist but I have the bad habit of sending faster than I can recieve. PEACE
I've had mine for a little over a year but only use it at my off grid cabin with a 7 band Buckmaster dipole. So, not having a lot of time on it I just jumped in after a quick read of the manual. I have made several contacts with the radio but last time we went to the cabin all I got when trying to TRX was feedback and it really stumped me. Found your channel and the quick fix was to simply turn off the monitor. Now I'm starting from scratch on your segments, they are awesome! Thanks for sharing! KN4JLU
Once again a damn good video and I am still thinking of getting the 7300 and of course it will be your fault and to blame when I do just because of your great videos...
Another excellent well-done vid. At around 10:15 you speak of the ALC in percentage, but the scale is not in percentage and I find no way to show percentage. Please advise.
Hi Tom, I've watched and l like the few video I've seen. I tend to jump through around a bit when I have something that I'm interested in learning more about. Do you have a list of what sections or what pages are covered in each video. Something that I could look at to zero in on a subject that I want to cover. I commend you for taking time to recored each of these videos.
Hi. Sorry I’m so far behind on answering comments. An index that cross references all of the manual pages with my videos is on my list, but I just haven’t made the time. The K-State amateur radio club made a nice index of my videos by topic, but it doesn’t reference specific pages. You can find that here: www.k-state.edu/ksuarc/IC-7300.html. 73, Tom
Hi Tom, Thanks for forwarding the IC-7300 Info page from W0QQQ. I'll forward it on to others in my ham radio club. Thank you for all the work you put into this You Tube Series. I'm one of many who are and have watched them, 73, Sal WC6Sal
Hi Tom, i have watched all your videos on 7300, but can you set the band edges for 5 mhz, /60 mts, sure i saw somthing about it, would have thought with ver 4.0 software they might have...F g4vvq.
Hi Tom. I just found this series and thoroughly enjoying. Nice to watch a hands on presentation. My question is when I shift to the meter screen I still have a reduced scope screen present. Is there anyway to remove the scope so just the meters appear and are full size? Thanks again for your diligence in preparing these presentations. I look forward to watching the rest of this series.
Hi Frank. Sorry for the delayed reply. If you repeatedly press the M.Scope key on the bottom center of the radio, one of the screen options is no scope and large digits and meter. I'm currently away from home and don't have the radio in front of me. I don't remember if you need to do a long press or not and I can't check right now. Hope this helps. 73, Tom
@@HamRadioA2Z I actually like the reduced scope with the meters underneath. There is much more operating information available. The large scope doesn’t tell me anymore than the reduced size scope. I don’t need to see the big waterfall.
I received my IC-7300 about three weeks ago and appreciate your presentations so far. I have a lot to learn for certain and although working through your videos from A to Z is a good idea that will take a VERY LONG TIME as I need to keep track of where I have been so I can search for next video. A question which comes to mind at this moment is, "can USB cable only be employed for digital modes"? Many thanks and have a good day.
Hi Tedd. I want to be sure I understand your question correctly, as I can interpret it two different ways: Are you asking if you can work digital modes using just a USB cable to your computer and nothing else? If so, the answer is yes, absolutely. If you're asking if digital modes is the only thing you can do with a USB connection, then the answer is definitely not. Once you connect the rig to your computer with a USB cable, you can work the various digital modes, you can control your rig remotely, you can backup all of the memories and rig settings to a file on your computer and you can load saved settings and memories back into the radio from your computer. You'll find information on USB connections in videos 23-26. Many thanks for your guidance Tom. This series is one that I wish was available on DVD, as a handy reference guide, yes the whole IC-7300 series. I may have to pay up so I can download the series. I am enjoying immensely working through the series. Thank you.
Hi. It’s the Speech/Lock button. It is just below and to the left of the main tuning knob. It has a little picture of a key on the label. Press and hold that button.

Thanks Gene.
I have really enjoyed the first 4 installments. They made the manual easier to understand. KB7RV
This has been invaluable to me Wow, thank you so much for investing your time. So helpful.
Thanks for the kind word Dave. I’m glad they’re helping.
I liked ham cured smoke since I'd experienced such things although not with an Icon

Hello my 7300 is saying that the panel lock is on and the switches are locked how do I undo this please

Tom, at the end you said, "That's the end of section three." Didn't you mean "section four" or am I confused here?
Apparently, I was confused too. 😊
