As a repair tech I see this kind of destruction every day of the week, and all too often the warranty needs to be denied not because of the gear but due to the customers incessant level of stupidity ... mostly being the wrong bit of kit for the wrong task or in the wrong way ... But hey, I'm laughing, all the way to the bank ...
It itsn't the publicity stunt that makes me use Orange, thats icing on the cake, but how they shrug off some of the older business models and look forward. RUclipsrs and "small exposure" artists get as much love as the big names. I think it's proof you go farther and earn more respect when you treat people with decency...y'know, like they are people.
I think it boils down to the fact that they are still a 'family' business. I get the impression that they are just so happy people are using their stuff, they don't have corporate attitude at all. Obviously they have to take care of business, but they get real joy from seeing anyone use their products; from the rock icons, right down to the little guys. Working with them is just so much fun, they are lovely people.
You can destroy your head doing this though. I once managed to melt a voice coil thus creating a short testing a repaired bass head and i blew the power section.
I don't know...I saw photos from a leveled music store after a tornado in Missouri, where the store was actually in its path of destruction. Oddly enough, all the Orange cabs and such were pretty much the only things to survive. Sticking out like sore thumbs among the debris. Supposedly, they actually worked still, save for the water damage from the rain where they kind of sogged down the speakers a bit.
Get a seismic audio empty 1x12 it has latch on cables no soldering. Put a eminance swamp thang 150w speaker in it. You could have a 100w amp on full blast and not blow it. Dont use swamp for bass though just regular electric.
Unfortunately, don't expect any bass players to actually pay attention to your demonstration, unless you're expecting them to do the same. You do know what Rule #2 is, after all.
Ehrm... Am i the only weirdo who doesn't necessarily find these sort of senseless destructions stunts all that entertaining? :P It wasn't all that funny "even" when Glenn started(?) it... Buuuuuut what do i know?..
Khron's Cave, I agree completely! At least seeing what fails first when overdriving a speaker is _somewhat_ interesting - putting your equipment in *fucking food* isn't.
It just struck me as slightly disappointingly... "american" (if not even "millenial" or "21st century teen-ish"), not exactly what i'd expect from a well-respected british brand / company :) But hey, i guess i'm just not the target-market. That, plus not being a guitarist ("only" a drummer, an electronics-junkie and aspiring recording engineer / producer)...
glenn is more entertainer than reviewer. he recommends the joyo zombie and calls the marshall code bad, but the marshall code sounded better than the joyo in his videos. hes a joke

That's more to do with the impedance than the wattage.
of course. By melting the low wattage coil you create a short with zero impedance.
Not sure if you pick what ads appear before your videos.. But excellent choice haha
Love you, Colin. ❤
Lagavulin vs laphraoig.
It just makes me really happy to listen to you talk. Oh and also your content is world class...
Holy shit i used to have that exact same t shirt in high school.. Right on lol
Disnae seem like an advert!

LOL, they should do one on a Tele, they say they are indestructible
I should send this to my band's bass player :'D
What if the maximum amps for the amp is less than the maximum of the speaker? ( I’m assuming that it would be quieter.)
The speaker simply doesn't play as loud as it otherwise could with more power.

Disney disnae like senseless destruction, I'm sure.
I got a 50 watt orange bass amp, except it has none of the bass part in it :v
Higher output amps are not a Problem... Just do not turn the volumen to high.
Could we get a video on the proper way to daisy chain amps like they did back in the day to get different and bigger sounds?

Damn now that's a series
Colin, i can not help but notice that the speakercone verymuch reswbles a noodlebowl. How about testing that terory out?
That's what rock and roll is all about.
very top gear. frown
Familiar Feces?

At least Collin isnt bitching like a 9 year old about why a bedroom practice amp doesnt sound like a Marshall JCM800

Khron's Cave - Orange isn't doing this for fun; they're doing it to show how well built their equipment is.
