That whole album is fire but this is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs, but there are so many great songs. I just love this feel from them and how Robert Plant has the room to sing down low with all that nuance and then still do his really high stuff and it all fits together perfectly. It's so fun to dance to as well. And I definitely hear reggae in it, no doubt.
If you like the mellow sounds of Robert Plant you should react to his band in the mid 1980s called "The Honeydrippers" - they did a remake of the 60s song called "Sea of Love". He makes the song even better IMO ❤
This is from my favorite Zep album Houses of the Holy, I love it because it is a diverse album and in a way, their most "progressive" and sophisticated. the correct pronunciation of D'yer Maker is actually like "Jer-maker", (Jermaica) get it? Lol... and yeah, sounds like a reggae-surf vibe. The western white rock genre did not clue in to the Bob Marley, Peter Tosh phenomenon until the late seventies, looks like Zep was more than a few years ahead of the game, Lol...
Great reaction💯 So glad you're heading down this rabbit hole 👏👏 is their a reason why you're not doing live videos cause to see them live is a whole nother experience 🤠🔥🔥The MSG concert 73 has amazing videos
From an interview with Plant, the title is a poke at a heavy accent saying the words "Did you make her?"To which Plant said that the joke continued with "No,no,she went along willingly". Just like Black Dog, a song that had no specific title when written.
"In the old joke, a man tells a friend that his wife has just gone on vacation. After he asks if it’s Jamaica (“D’yer mak’er”) she’s gone to, the man replies, “No, she went on her own accord.” (Get it?)"
This song title is based on an old joke. Person#1: My wife went to the West Indies on vacation. Person#2: Jamaica? (D’ja make her?) Person#1: No. She went of her own accord.
Completely off topic but based upon what I think you could truly appreciate... please try Bjork "It's not up to you" she is such an innovative artist....hope you jump in.
Like I always say you can't pigeonhole Led Zeppelin because they can rock like best ones out there and then do a blues ,folk, funk, middle eastern and even a bit of reggae influence song as well
They can do it all....any genre, any style. Most versatile heavy band in history.
Greatest band ever ,and you young man get better and better ,💎💎💎💎👍
They do it all...and they do it very, very excellently!!!!!!!!😎

He might not be able to handle that one.
A fabulous band whatever genre 🎉.
UK bands from the late 60's to mid to late 70's are way above all others....
Bonzo is the coolest drummer there ever was...even when his just kickin' and having fun he still miles better than all the rest. RIP.
You’re the best my young friend!👍😎
Over the Hills and Far Away, same album, one of my favs. Oh wait, I see you already did it !

Great reaction. What a song. Keep on keeping on.
Love love Zeppelin and this is one of memories! Wish we could clone them!😀🎶🎸
The title is a play on the word "Jamaica" when spoken in an English accent
Also a slang for did you make her in England.
possibly their most unique song
One of the best drum productions sounds ever!
That album is very eclectic.....try Dancin' Days, The Ocean, and No Quarter from the same album....and Over The Hills and Far Away.
Awesome album. Burned in my memory in a great way.
He's done the last 2, check them out, just go his LZ playlist

Thanks again for your reactions.
Thanks for watching!
A perfect summer song 🔥
Led Zeppelin is Great!!! One of the gods of Rock n' Roll.......but so is YES.......you should react to "Gates of Delirium."
My wife went to the West Indies.
Jamaica?
No, she went of her own accord.
Bonzo's Montreaux off the Coda album uses a drum orchestra. Excellent drumming from John Bonham.

This came out in 1973. Eric Clapton would have a huge hit with Bob Marley's I shot the sheriff in 1974

reminds me of riding around with my bff in high school singing along
You have to listen to You Shook me by Zepplin. Just incredible.

Fool in the Rain is also reggae
You spell diverse L-E-D Z-E-P-P-E-L-I-N
D'yer Maker is a phonetic way of how a Cockney Brit would say "Jamaica"...
To be played on a tropical island
Play babe I'm gonna leave you led zeppelin. Gina
"In the old joke, a man tells a friend that his wife has just gone on vacation. After he asks if it’s Jamaica (“D’yer mak’er”) she’s gone to, the man replies, “No, she went on her own accord.” (Get it?)"
Ya want to here something really funky that most people hate listen to the crunge
Check out a group called Dread Zeppelin. It's very very cool stuff
Lady Ga Ga does a dramatic cover of this in an old live video.
Check out a band called Skindred for full on reggae, metal, punk fusion.
D,yamaker= Jamaica in a London accent
"Whatever happened to Rosie and the Originals?"
😉
This song title is based on an old joke.
Person#1: My wife went to the West Indies on vacation.
Person#2: Jamaica? (D’ja make her?)
Person#1: No. She went of her own accord.
"D'yer Maker" is a British phonetic slang way of saying, "Jamaica"...
If you'd like to see an incredible funky performance that rocks, check out Trampled Underfoot live.
FYI- It is pronounced "Jamaica" in a Cockney accent (London accent). Yep! Reggae & 50s do-wop.
Completely off topic but based upon what I think you could truly appreciate... please try Bjork "It's not up to you" she is such an innovative artist....hope you jump in.
Led Zeppelin created Reggae Blues with D'yer Ma'ker and Fool in the Rain. No other style compares.
Like I always say you can't pigeonhole Led Zeppelin because they can rock like best ones out there and then do a blues ,folk, funk, middle eastern and even a bit of reggae influence song as well
D’yer Ma’ker is pronounced with a heavy British accent. What the word is: JAMAICA
REGGAE ROCK?? Lol...the cocalar !
Search Lady Gaga covering this song
First
Pronounced "Jer Maker"
How about Led Zeppelin - Hotdog
The song crap
Yes they are versatile and all, but this is one of their worst, in a catalogue that has 90% absolutely fantastic songs.
