This is a table I built to better my sound design and recording abilities while in a recording studio. I'm calling this instrument for sound a "Foley Table."
Nicely done. What a super handy tool to have around! Are these pieces 2'X4'? I wonder how you feel about the size of the surfaces and general tonality? I'm currently in plans for a v2.0 of my foley surfaces. I'm leaning towards 4'X4' for each surface type with 3/4 base underneath to prevent resonances. What are you thoughts after building all of this? I'm hoping that 4'X4' surfaces can be used for footsteps and foley work and made to be stacked with 1/4" lips to keep items on the surfaces... Thanks for sharing the video of the build process!
I believe they are 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8 for the outer frame. I made the larger flat part out of different types of wood/thickness and drilled holes for different resonance response. Since I just finished this I still have a lot of work to tune and explore how to maximize and get the sound I'd like out of each shelf. I didn't set out to use this for footsteps, but I like your idea on that direction. I may think about how I might build these "shelves" to also work for footstep surfaces as well so they are even more flexible. The trick is to keep the weight down so you can still handle them and move them around. Great ideas and feedback, love it!!!
Amazing Nathan! What hardware did you use? What is your DAW? I am setting up my own foley stage for Pro Tools. My current equipments are a shotgun mic, a laptop, MOTU M4 interface, Icon Pro Control Surface, bunch of props. What else do you think I need?
i am making my own foley setup what mics do you have i wanna get what you have :)
Very hard to follow

This is genius.
It's almost like the 'standing desk' of foley haha
So impressive! Glad I stumbled onto your page, clearly very passionate looking forward to digging into what you have done
