Loved Kakyoin in this one; victory well deserved.
We are here, fam. I fell in love with Kakyoin at first sight, but this episode made me SIMP. Some people think of waifus and husbandos in a very sexual way, but honestly I would just kiss the ground he walks on, anything else is blasphemy. No, I won't apologize for being cringe.
I mentioned already that I like when Jotaro can't just jump in and solve all the problems with punching, so I find it genuinely hilarious when Death just clowned on him for trying. As well as when a giant chain on his uniform chokes him. Like, someone had to punish him for being that edgy, not that it would teach him anything, but it still counts.
Now, can we accept that Noble Pope is objectively the best OST in SC? And the string instruments fit so amazingly with his character. And this colour scheme you highlighted is so badass. Also, this is second time Hierophant technically uses his ability to possess I guess? It's understandable why he doesn't do it all that much, but it's a cool power and it's a bummer Hierophant is really underused. It must be a pain in the butt to animate tho, with such a complicated design. DP resorted to so much CGI for Whitesnake, guess I should be thankful at least for that.
Interesting thing about Kakyoin I always wanted to discuss is his moral compass. Remember his monologue from ep 2, about justice belonging to the winner? I kinda want to compare his introduction to Polnareff's. The latter kept his personality intact while under DIO's influence, so it would be fair to assume same goes for Kakyoin. Which means, at least at the start of the journey, he is not the best person out there. All that matters to him is the end point, no matter how to get there - so he takes a hostage, injures innocents, and even now he is genuinely ready to murder a child. Like, he's probably the only one of the crusaders who can. "The end is all that matters" is stated to be the opposite of Araki's position, so Kakyoin goes through major character change. And it would be a great thing to explore, but it's never addressed? That's why I'm so frustrated about SC being so long, all its runtime could be used for amazing character development, but it's wasted so much on stretching fight scenes and bad jokes. Aaand stop, it's my second favourite episode, I shouldn't get angry. Stay hydrated, king 💜

@@remember_this1336 araki intentionally avoids major character development in order to make part 3 very accessible to anyone who buys a shonen jump magazine and doesn't know anything about JoJo. When you think about it in the way it's supposed to be marketed (Compiled with other big titles in a manga magazine) it's actually genius! Which is why (spoiler)
Kakyoin gets major character development only until before his death, so even if you skipped some chapters. You will get hit with feels as long as you get the gist of it. MARKETING GENIUS!

If the first one takes the napkin to their right, then there’s no choice but for others to also take the ‘right’ napkin. The same goes for the left. Everyone else will take the napkin to their left, because they have no other option. This is ‘society’... Who are the ones that determine the price of land first? There must have been someone who determined the value of money, first. The size of the rails on a train track? The magnitude of electricity? Laws and Regulations? Who was the first to determine these things? Did we all do it, because this is a Republic? Or was it Arbitrary? NO! The one who took the napkin first determined all of these things! The rules of this world are determined by that same principle of ‘right or left?’! In a Society like this table, a state of equilibrium, once one makes the first move, everyone must follow! In every era, this World has been operating by this napkin principle. And the one who ‘takes the napkin first’ must be someone who is respected by all. It’s not that anyone can fulfill this role... Those that are despotic or unworthy will be scorned. And those are the ‘losers’. In the case of this table, the ‘eldest’ or the ‘Master of the party’ will take the napkin first... Because everyone ‘respects’ those individuals.
