confirmed for win 10 as well
i found this out after recent snowstorm knocked oput power and the pc was off yet it was doing shit in background i ddint know and fucked it all up
i am so done with this retarded os
i dont care if i lose games i love id rather have the peace of mind it is doing what i want it too
I've seen this many times, both on Windows 7 as well as on Windows 10 & 11, originally with an Intel chipset, and later with an AMD chipset.
I have windows 10. I have set the screensaver......and also when to turn off the monitor.....but neither activates. This is not a simple setting. Tried many "youtube fixits'"......no joy. Any idea's.
@@truthfilterforyoutube8218
so i have my own network
one day my roommate says to me hey look at this
YOUR desktop image is now on my laptop
and NEITHER of us asked for that
LOL
the trust level in this os is so low if not for them buying activision and all the good games they have now soon in pc game pass id shift right to linux fast and never look back
@Britec09 I hear the last video that I was watching prior to shutting down. Gives me the hebi jeebees bc this happens hours later, usually I'm already in bed. I'll open the lid and there is no page open.
Thank you for making this video, I bought a gaming PC and have been trying to fix this problem for about a month now. I called the tech support of the company i bought it from and all they would tell me is call microsoft. This was so helpful!
Which solution worked for you?
Disabling fast startup worked. Thanks man. You're my savior. You literally helped me with EVERY single one of my problems
He's helpful with wife problems too
I must say Brian as always a great video as I have often wondered why checking drivers comes up with that message that Windows has already got the right driver and now I shall know just what to do. Plus the shutdown problem is now able to be fixed - thanks!!👍
Glad you enjoyed it
We've often seen this problem on old computers. Disabling Fast Startup will usually solve the problem. We also found out that installing windows in Legacy MBR instead of UEFI would also work.
you are well experienced
This has happened more often as my build aged over the last two years. Running a Ryzen 3800xt. Tried all of these, updated my bios, amd chipset, tried all of the power settings both ways. At this point I think I have a PSU issue.
Did it turn out to be a power supply issue? I'm curious because I'm starting to think my psu is acting up for different reasons, and I just now experience this problem for the the first time and It spooked me a bit.
You’re a legend! Disabling fast startup has made it possible for my pc to shut down finally!!!
Remember the old AT computers? "It's now safe to turn off your computer."
Year, I remember that.
And running the park command. 😁
You know you can enable that in windows 11 to this day right?
I had a PC do this. It turned out to be a faulty onboard network card. Disabled it in the BIOS and the problem went away. The issue would also prevent a fresh windows install from fully installing.
This has only happened a couple of times to me, but I always just switch it off at the switch if that happens and that fixes it.
Bruhh I just tried it thinking that it was stupid and it actually worked. 🤣👍
I flicked the switch off while the pc was running BTW if anyone else wanted to try
@@absent_xi6093 don’t do it all the time to turn your pc off it can damage components
Brian loves RGB.
Cool...
Never had this problem mate. Will try it if problem comes
Cool, mainly on Intel based systems
Brill. I might make a suggestion - what you could do is summarise all this in a step-by-step process guide, so that we don't have to blindly skim through a video in real time.
Thanks so much, GOD bless you!
Just buying a computer doesn't solve the problem! Always have to come here for the real solution. Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I recently built an Intel pc and needed to add a pcie network card. Once the card was added the pc wouldn't shut down. I previously tried all the options you went through except 2 of them. The one that worked for me was the Intel management engine software. Now it works just like the ryzen machine next to it.
Thanks it was driving me crazy
I just took notes on this video. Will be super handy if I get into an IT position for a job.
Just a heads up some PC manufacturers include the Intel Management Engine as part of the BIOS update dell does. When I update the BIOS on mine one of the steps will say something along the lines of "Updating Intel M. E. Firmware"
That is why I added at the end of the video, update BIOS if your still having issues.
Yes but isn't that's firmware not drivers?
I've owned nothing but Intel for the past few years going from an i7 4770k to an i7 7700k, to now an i9 10850k and I've never had anything like this happen to me until recently when I decided to check to see if fast boot was off I noticed the hibernation option was ticked off, so I ticked it on, and then all of sudden I'm getting ID 41 errors in the even viewer and PC shutting off but fans and RGBs staying on.... my guess is having hibernation ticked on is what's causing this, so I'm going to turn the option back off and see if that does it
There are arguments for and against hibernation for quicker start up. What are your thoughts Brian ?
I hate hibernation and sleep mode in windows, its never worked properly
@@Britec09 - I love the latter option. Even when having my OS on a SSD. Is it that bad??? Hibernation has never been a thing for me. Inneficient for HDDs since its inception.
Thank you so much! I had this issue and the first tip worked. Great video!!!
I shut down, close the lid and half our later I hear the last video I was watching. Creepy especially if I'm already in bed. I haven't really noticed if the fan is still running.
I have the same issue with my AMD motherboard.
By experimentation I found out that the issue is that the external power from a USB 3.0 hub was flowing BACK into the PCIe bus with can then flow BACK into the PCI bus which is the bus that powers the motherboard & CPU fans.
I had to create small USB 3.0 pigtails where the + & - are cut.
A little brute force but it works.
May i know what do you mean by external power from usb 3.0 hub was flowing back into the PCIe bus? And the small usb 3.0 pigtails
Your answer would be very helpful
thanks. you brought out something that i overlooked. i have a new machine that just won't shut off the fan after shutdown. after i saw your message, i tried shutdown without any usb device plug in and found that it works. then i look at the usb cable i used (i had one with LED display) with my ducky keyboard. apparently, this is the culprit. i changed to a "normal, not so fancy" usb c cable, and this problem is resolved.
Question: I cannot enter my bios nowadays because my keyboard is not on to bea bake to click either F2 or delete keys. I have tried to use the windows boot into bios trick to no a avail
Is it UEFI?
@@Britec09 yes
Worked for my old G41MT-S2 motherboard, thanks brother.
Nothing works
Hi.. Tried all the methods still not solved.. cpu turns on automatically.. Kindly help me with this how to solve the issue.. is it because of not using genuine product key?
I just reinstalled windows now it’s working perfectly fine.
Thank you, this was the only video that helped me fix the shutdown or restarting issue on my lenovo thinkcentre m700 mini pc. 👏🏻
Damn, thanks so much I didn't realize until today I had driver all the way from 2006! Great video.
I have the same issue with my Amd system and it is sending me crazy, i reinstalled windows and everything and still the same issue
I've had this issue a bit but then once windows 10 fully shuts off the system sorta stays on for a moment before shutting off fully as if windows has fully turned off but not the PC itself for a moment or so before it fully powers off (Dell Inpiron 1440)
Thank you for the help, just needed to turn off fast startup!
mine's AMD, it doesn't have management engine interface. what do i do? is there any alternative for that step?
None of it worked. I don't know what to do.
Edit: only way to reliably shut it down without holding the power is to type a command.
shutdown /s /f /t 0
That is a zero, not the letter o by the way. I don't feel like typing a command every single time I wanna turn it off, but nothing else works. This is beyond frustrating
Did you try reinstalling Windows?
Thank you so much for this guide fixed my problem!
I've been repairing PC's and laptops for years.... since window 8.0 windows have done this to increase boot times...and get analysis data from you...if you select reboot and power mains off at shutdown then it shows the real boot times and also saves you power usage...
My Windows 10 PC, an "OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop" gaming PC, recently encountered a BSOD stating that a "critical process stopped". Is there any way to prevent this from occurring again? Maybe utilizing the Task Manager can help to identify the process that stopped.
The hits just keep coming .., Thanks!!!
You're welcome
The issue I am having is that my AMD Ryzen 7 5800U computer boots into BIOS! I have disconnected and/or replaced all external USB devices, I have reset the BIOS to its optimized defaults, yet nearly every time after awakening from the sleep mode or booting after a shutdown it goes into BIOS. The only way to boot into Windows is to do a hard shutdown while inside the BIOS screen and reboot. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!!
I remember same issue on my friends PC,it was caused because some little piece of chips stuck under delete key 😁
this video actually helped solve my problem. thanks man
Off fast start up. It works. Thanks ❤.
Sorry, but this was not very helpful. I have Windows 10 which is currently at lastest update, along with the most current BIOS from ASUS. Went to ASUS website and Downloaded then Extracted what they listed as the current Chipset Driver (please confirm if necessary to Extract the Chipset Driver before trying to Update the Driver) as the version listed on ASUS's site was not the same version listed on Intel Management Engine Interface. It found the "new" Driver but it refused to intall it no matter which method of yours I tried. Keep saying there was a more curent Driver version installed. Thanks for any possible help you may lend. **I will add that my issue is intermittent and not constant when I click Shut Down thru Windows and the monitors shut off but not the computer.
have seen this quite a lot, the far from necessary management engines and windows update has a lot to answer for, I've seen a high end laptop with damaged screen after being woken up due to windows update even though the lid was closed, then froze the bios half way through, the owner was oblivious and only found out after returning to the UK
Worked like a charm, Thanks
You're welcome!
I couldn’t install the intel ME engine despite the driver version is outdated, it says “the best drivers for your device are already installed”. I tried everything, the fan and the lights still won’t turn off after shutdown, the only thing that works is holding the power button
Hello sir
I did what you said in this video a week ago and this problem was solved but suddenly it started again
Please help
Occurs once in a while, especially if an app haven't run right or crashed..it seems.. suspected that link state mng. (or other power options..). . but it's quite sporadic error so never tried it ..perhaps ill give that Intel mgt. engine update a go.. one day :p
Great vid !
Thanks for the info.
Thank you for the video!😜👍♥
You're welcome 😊
My pc also not shutting down after shutdown command
Specs are :-
Intel Core 2 duo with zebronics g41 motherboard
WD green hardisk and 4 gb ram
Thank you sir. This seems to have fixed my issue. 🙏
How about when you put your AMD pc to sleep and in the middle of the night you can see the computer woke up and there is activity? Win10
I never knew this problem existed until you mentioned it. Well done. 👍
Thanks! 👍
Thank you for this information sir, it help me a lot❤.
For me it was the BIOS Power Setting ErP - it needs to be enabled
I bought a Nox Urano II 630w atx power supply, but it never turns off, with the fan always running without being connected to any motherboard, I think the green Power On wire is short circuited with the black wires?
How can I solve this problem ?
I've done all this plus swapped power supply, video card, replaced memory sticks and it still wont shutoff unless I hold down the power button!
Works perfectly in my pc, you're genius thanks mate!
Thank you very much! Works for me.
that's really stupid that Windows won't update your drivers even if there are newer versions available from the device manufacturer. It kind of makes me wonder how many drivers on my system aren't actually updated to the latest version. Maybe you can do a video on how to ACTUALLY get all of our drivers updated. I know there are a lot of programs that claim to update drivers and i also know alot of those programs are BS. So if you can find a legitimate free program that actually works then I think that would make a great video. I have used ccleaner in the past but that update driver option is only available on the paid version and to be honest who knows if it actually worked.
When i have my nvme drive in the slot nearest the cpu it causes the pc fans to run after shutdown. If i have fast startup enabled and link power management to moderate it will shut down as long as the drive does not have the operating system on it. Its a strange one.
I have a Piii 866 with winXP , the fans stay on after shut down.
Thank you so much. It works perfectly on my computer 👍👍👍
Why is it when I type that command in and press run absolutely nothing happens
Did everything what u shown. And even after updation of bios. Fans still running. What to do?
Thanks. This fixed the issue.
thank you bro nice work !!!
I have another solution: My AMD Chipset driver which has been installed by the amd adrenalin software was apparently too new for my mainboard. When I installed the older version which I got from the site of my motherboard manufacturer, shutdown and restart times returned to normal.
I have a problem when I turn off the pc menu headset and the graphic card works, how do I turn it off?
i have a question, what if i unninstall my windows again and the problem still there? can you tell me where the problem is after installing new windows?
My asus z270f motherboard is requiring forced shutdown and only 1 usb port is working out of 7.Updated bios , drivers and resetting with same windows 11 os.Nothing is working!
after i force shut down my pc, and i turn it on again its showing no display
Tysm, the hold powerbutton worked for me
I have a different problem. At the "Save as.." dialog, i cant create new folder, so i must create it "out side of that dialog" and then i choose the "save as".. Is it something you heard about (some latest update o mother-microsoft?) OS Win 10 pro v 21H2.
sonds like the first version of windows 95, if you remember that. the more techinical things become, the more that goes wrong with them and has the same quality. In my humble opinion, Windows XP was the best, and second place was Windows 7 x64 professional. thanks
got AMD based system and I tried the half of googles solution but it doesnt work and my fans are still spinning... :(
My pc is not even restart. Restarting loading . Fan, cpu all spinning. Is this hardware issue? Coz I cant shutdown.
After follow ur first step, cant restart too.
I have an hp elitebook and I'll switch it off at night. Wake up the next morning turn it on and it's dead and you plug it in and it still says shutting down. It just doesn't switch off.
So do we keep on pressing the button for few seconds?????
Thanks for this, does this work for motherboard Rgb? When I turn off my pc the RBG motherboard stays on?
My Asus laptop after an automatic BIOS update, the keyboard and fans will stay on after the PC is switched off. But it fixes itself after the last Windows update.
Oh some of tips on this video are new to me, I will try those after back home. My pc also have this issue after I RMA my motherboard
It happens to my new pc too but after 30 or 40 seconds it shuts down , is it harmful for pc or should I leave it ?
This is why I put my computers and monitor on a power strip. When I shut don't the puter off I just turn the switch of the button on the power strip and it turns the puter down and the monitor saves energy also.
Thank you for your vid. Just noticed my computer starting to do this a couiple times of late after putting it together in 6/20.
I have the same problem but just when i want to Restart not shut down
Hey can this also happen because of fast startup? I just enabled it on my pc because of my slow hdd so just in case my cpu fan and system fan and RGB isn't turning off
Do you perhaps have a similar solution for linux based systems?
Ubuntu amd mint.
Kind regards
I hibernate my laptop and sometimes during the night it switches itself on! WTF!
Failed to help my computer - still runs idle after shutting down Windows 10.
thanks brotha this bullcrap was making me go insane
thank you pal it work ,smooth operation😎
Would this still fix even though i took it to a technician and said that he tried diff o.s???
Thank you. It worked.
Thank you!!!
Just changed the board and facing this issue, non of the methods worked did pretty much everything
hi, when my friend powers down his p/c sometimes the monitor turns off but p/c stays on, randomly, I have reinstalled windows 10 it is till doing it, can you please help
I heard somewhere that it's usually a driver issue.
Anything is possible when it comes to computers, a clean install would solve that
we need to do all that for it work ?
Does someone know how to fix when i turn off my pc, my monitor, mouse, headset, keyboard are still on
Is this just started happening with my 5900 X on AB550 Tomahawk With Windows 10. I'm pretty sure it was a windows update board something
is it normal that it takes a while for it to shut down when i do it
