Just in case there’s any confusion, this isn’t a hate piece on Modiphius. I’ve loved painting this model and I think they’ve perfectly recreated the Fallout 4 Behemoth. The TL;DR of the video is that basically, I just wish it was bigger like in Fallout 3 but I feel that where this model falls down is due to Bethesdas lack of artistic consistency when it comes to their character design.
I was under the impression that the shopping cart on the back in Fallout 3 was from the huge shopping card sign that is in front of the SuperDuper Mart.
Not a bad idea, but the oversized fire hydrant as well as the entirely too large car door on its arm debunks that theory. It just looks like it was originally meant to be smaller.
Don't tell them to make it 1.5 times bigger, they'll just make the entire mini bigger including the trolly. Then we'll all have to believe the super large mutants shop at Tesgrow *ba dum tsch*
I've been making a few of these in 1/12 scale, basing them on both behemoths from fallout 3 and 4 and yes the discrepancies in scaling can be a bit annoying. In the end I worked with the materials at hand and decided to settle with a more "realistic" (yet short) 12 feet Behemoth. I honestly think 20-30ft would be a tremendous creature that would probably starve to death in the wasteland or be an easy target for more cunning predators. I love the look of the behemoths from fo3, everything about those chunky boys is intimidating and while the behemoths from fo4 have a smaller frame, they're still a force to be reckoned with. Great short video thanks for sharing your thoughts!
The price of this Behemoth is listed as $89US. How much more are the customers willing to pay for a mini that is one and a half times bigger... $130US ?... $150US? I would love to buy this mini but even at $89US I find it a bit too expensive. So Modiphius made them underscaled to save on manufacturing & shipping costs since most of their minis come in their standard size box.
I'm completely new to Fallout Wasteland Warfare (going to try my 2 player starter set finally this weekend). But as someone who likes FO4 the most, this video actually made me more excited about this model 😅. I want to recreate the Commonwealth as much as possible, so I'm very happy with this scale. That said, I think it'd be great if they made bigger Capital Wasteland behemoths for those who want them. We all win when we can get the stuff that we want. Personally I'm also excited for NCR/Caesar's Legion, as FNV is my second favorite Fallout (my tastes are all over the place).
Mutants have that strip is because during the fev dump or exposure their lips get over grown so they have to hold them up with a strap so they can speak
So I thought Super Mutants continue to grow and get more feral...so they can be any size. The longer they live the bigger they got...so the Fallout 3 one is older then the Fallout 4 one? Lol I just wish I they would restock the mini in the US store :)
In Fallout 4, at least according to the wiki, the max size Behemoth you'll find is around 20 feet with the Feral/ Elite Behemoth. In normal lore though that does seem to be the case.
To be perfectly honest the consistency pretty much went out of the window since the time Fallout Tactics was released. Super Mutant looking "only slightly" different was a small issue when compared to hairy Death Claws.
i have never played fallout wasteland i never will player fallout wasteland warfare but this trolleygate incident is the worst thing to happen to the fallout franchise since fallout new vegas
First time I saw one on my way to GNR I remember just going ‘what…. the…’ and looking to run. Fallout 3, for all its quirks - one of my fave games of all time.
I was thinking the same! The shopping cart was huge! The behemoth seemed to small for me as well when it arrived. Maybe with swan out, modiphius can finally make Capital wasteland behemoths.
It seems huge until you realise they're going for the Fallout 4 sculpt, if you check out the game assets the cart is the same size which feels like its wrong but I think it's moreso when we have the experience of Fallout 3 and the massive Behemoths there it can be hard to separate the scales.
Ok, finally taking the time to write this up. As with anything of this nature, I think I'll also post something on the FWW reddit while im at it. The thing I find the most odd about the Behemoth's in FWW is how tiny they are in comparison to things like the Fog Crawler and Mirelurk Queen. In Fallout 4 they were all almost the same size. In Fallout lore it is stated that Super Mutants don't stop growing in size. Obviously they have the game limitations on how big they can make large enemies act but still it's written in the lore. A Behemoth like Swan who was pre-war made should be large, larger than a Mirelurk Queen and about as big as Liberty Prime in all reality. But I digress. Cause LP has to be the biggest baddest thing around. I feel like in FWW they need to redo how the behemoth's will be made in the future as they need to be on a decent sized base and decently tall. In fallout 4 they are not much smaller than a Mirelurk queen maybe 3 feet shorter. So in FWW they should be a maybe on 100mm base and a bit shorter than a MQ. The Shopping Carts need to go. If they can get creative with how they did Swan's design then surely they can do the same with other models and units. I'll try to go further in depth on this in my reddit post.
Totally agree Sam, F3 was my first Fallout and if the mutants followed the design of 3 then I'd 100% be all over them by now. F4 mutants just look eh to me unfortunately
I don't mind the Fallout 4 sculpt, I'd just love something a little bigger too just to have the option, even if it was on par with the Mirelurk Queen, we'll have to see how big Swan is
I think, given how FWW's models look, Modiphius don't have a lot if any to say about the design, asthetic and scale of the minis they produce, as everything has to be directly adapted from the games. I think its a little bit unfair to call it their worst model, as that very much makes it sound like they messed something up, when in reality it was out of their hands. I don't any having to make anything from a universe with such gaps in its visual and asthetical continuity.
Absolutely, although the thin and dangly nature of the Fallout 4 behemoth is quite reminiscent of the titans from Attack on Titan who are quite unsettling in their own way.
Your case is very weak, sir. Also, whilst complaining about the mini being mini, a comparison shot with a human and/or a super mutant from the same range would be appropriate. Additionally, the likely reason the behemoths were shortened is so they wouldn't be as large as Liberty Prime.
Disagree with this take. I love the variety and different styles. I think a smaller Behemoth makes sense as not everything is the same size & it makes game-play better overall rules wise
Was gonna angrily reply that this model is great I like it more than the model we got for fallout 4 and 76 but you actually hit the nail on the head for my issues on this model I tend to get super picky on sizes for almost any setting. You get a like
Bethesda dropping the ball? Say it aint so. Don't hold your breath waiting for Bethesda to come up with a good design. If you can't to the model work yourself theres pleanty of good designs online for home printing and Im sure someone has made a true Behemoth modeling file.

I agree, great model but should be bigger.
I’d love to see Loot Studios work out a deal to take its shot at Fallout.
I was under the impression that the shopping cart on the back in Fallout 3 was from the huge shopping card sign that is in front of the SuperDuper Mart.
Ah that would make a lot more sense, although at 13 feet in height a normal shopping cart wouldn't be too far off scale I'd say
Not a bad idea, but the oversized fire hydrant as well as the entirely too large car door on its arm debunks that theory. It just looks like it was originally meant to be smaller.

😂😂😂😂😂
No one talks about the six foot tall fire hydrant.
Hey, fire hydrants have feelings.

They absolutely are, they may be smaller in stature but not in threat :) Even in the FWW rules the Behemoth is a real danger

this is the real reason its sized the way it is.

Same
Behemoths are always different sizes, they can range from slightly bigger super mutants to gargantuan
“Strong hate shopping”
Don't we all :D

The mini is based directly on the in game 3D model from Fallout 4. That Behemoth had a stupid sized shopping cart on its back as well.
as someone who prefers the fallout 3 mirelurks to the fallout 4 ones i feel your pain.
To be perfectly honest the consistency pretty much went out of the window since the time Fallout Tactics was released. Super Mutant looking "only slightly" different was a small issue when compared to hairy Death Claws.
Wow yeah that's so small. The super mutants in wasteland warfare feel a little big as is, that doesnt look much bigger
I didn't realize it was the Behemoth until you said it. Its tiny.
Super mutants never stop growing so im ok with the variation. Although i wouldnt say no to a bigger behemoth
If they make them bigger someone else will whinge about it.
Haha also true
i have never played fallout wasteland i never will player fallout wasteland warfare but this trolleygate incident is the worst thing to happen to the fallout franchise since fallout new vegas
😂😂😂
First time I saw one on my way to GNR I remember just going ‘what…. the…’ and looking to run.
Fallout 3, for all its quirks - one of my fave games of all time.
Yeah that trolley always bothered me. I just swapped it out for a TTCombat portaloo from their City Streets range - then named him Elvis or King. ;)
Oh that's amazing!

That shopping cart tho lol guess someone is trying to get their shopping done
😂 he’s just a hungry boi

Interested in this game and was thinking of starting with Enclave and Muties. May have to 3d print a giant behemoth
Vermillion Miniatures make a pretty cool looking Behemoth miniature for 3D printing
Im gonna have to give my input later. But i dont disagree on some of the points in the vid.
Totally fair

Oh for sure, i think they have some creative liberties but they can't deviate too far from the source material which honestly makes complete sense.
Always preferred Fallout 3 Behemoth, looked more deadly
Absolutely, although the thin and dangly nature of the Fallout 4 behemoth is quite reminiscent of the titans from Attack on Titan who are quite unsettling in their own way.
@@MisfitHobbies to be fair yeah is a little similar! If only the story writing in Fallout was anywhere near as good as Attack on Titan
Your case is very weak, sir. Also, whilst complaining about the mini being mini, a comparison shot with a human and/or a super mutant from the same range would be appropriate. Additionally, the likely reason the behemoths were shortened is so they wouldn't be as large as Liberty Prime.

I would love to see more variety in general would love some fallout 3 protectrons at some point
I suppose we did see Marcus which is a different style to the super mutants we've seen so it's not entirely impossible we may see some form of variety
Good argument for having stls of the figures - can resize and print however you want.
I suppose so but then not everyone has printer access
yeah i really wish they would. You can even see 3d print lines on some parts of the production minis where they printed the masters.
Really nice paintjob!
Thank you very much!

I think they should make one based on the in game model height and desgin of Fallout 3's behemoth as a separate model.
I would love that
*♤ Hm.*
Good points made Sam. I agree with you on this one.
Thanks!
Ngl this was really crimge
This is good video! I like Behemoths a lot, but size really did stop me from buying one.
Thanks! The Behemoths are cool, and this model is great as a Fallout 4 sculpt plus it's great fun on the table
Bethesda super mutants are trash in general
