I am, and this was even better than advertised. Proves everything he was talking about on there about being in the moment, adapting to his environment, and doing his own thing. Freaking inspiring as hell.
Idk how many watching were actually there but...that was the greatest thing ever to actually be there and see it go down, just the energy in that place. I'll remember it forever, things like this are what makes Tampa Pro the greatest skate contest ever. His run and pretty much the whole contest was already over but they let him try it again and again till he got it, and when he did... 👍👍👍. Enough said
He is one of the best ever. Pure style. He's everything a skater should be. Just have fun and skate. Its so rad seeing the younger still respecting him.
Mike V has made a huge impact on skateboarding. Love him or hate him you cannot deny his completely individual style and ability to still push the limits of what's possible on a skateboard. Look no further than 2:32 - massive frontside nose pick!
he used to skate for world industries and had the first double-kick "popsicle shape" deck that is standard now (transition from old to new school). that is significant.
After watching recent footage of the dude who inspired me to start skating in the first place, all I want to do now is order an Elephant deck and shred.
not to mention he was one of the first ten pro skateboarders to be considered street. he had one of the first video parts of somebody just skateboarding down the street. not only was his merits back in the day real good, even in todays standards he is helping the skateboarding community, admits he was wrong. and goes on TV and specials teaching kids not only about skateboarding but how to get along, share. and that life is hard for everybody and skateboarding is an outlet for expression.
Skateboarding isnt about fashion or how things should be done its bout representing your own style and being who YOU are. every skateboarder is different and has different style and that is what makes skateboarding what it is today without that every single trick would look exactly the same and it would be pointless
Are there any skate historians who know if Mike has ever been SOTY? I think on his Free Lunch he said he considered himself over-the-hill in '92, and he's still killing it to this day with no end in sight
Didn't mean no disrespect, Mike V is one of my role models. When I said not the best, I didn't say anything that's not true. You don't have to be the best to be a legend and an all-time great. Mike V still draws the crowd and people like him for who he is and how he skates. That's why I like him too. PS I still own a 1993 Vallely naked board and still ride it just for fun.
I personally dont like lil wayne but he is not a poser skater, hes trying to learn just like you when you started. people who say hes fake are jumpin' on a bandwagon of hating him to be cool (or get likes on a youtube comments hint hint) am i wrong?
i'm not sure i follow yours either... who are you to judge what this man does with his life? he has done skateboarding a great service with the many innovations he has brought to the lifestyle and he deserves great respect for it.
Those no complies are awesome, he climbed to the coping with a no comply and kept rolling. If you put a wall he wallies it, no matter how high. MV is otherwordly.
most people here probably don't even understand who this man is and what's he's done for skateboarding. get your shit right, skateboarding isn't about who has the cooler clothes or the better sponsors. mike represents everything this lifestyle stands for.
Anyone who doubts this guy's life long total dedication to skateboarding, and completely timless destroying power, needs to carefully watch his battle commander! Keep in keep in mind that he was over 40 fuckin' years old when he filmed that masterpiece!!!! What the fuck? Seriously.
mike v is really a sensitive guy and a great man. I listened to his nine club interview and he was soooo good and honest and just stoked to recall his life story in skating and throughout the podcast i learned alot from the guy. i relate to him alot. Seeing mike get crowd surfed put a smile on my face cuz i know how he felt there. i dont need to say it, i just know exactly what that meant to him. And he fucking kills it! ! that nose pick was utterly terrifyingly freaky!!!! One time i saw him at the westminster mall with my ex girlfriend, but i was too pussy tosay whats up. But back then, i would’ve not had the same respect i have for him that i have now after seeing the nine club interview. Not that i disrespected him before, ive always been a fan, i just really feel more like 8 can relate to him
When he get's lifted up at the end it is one of the most amazing moments in skateboarding. He is well deserved of all the respect.
anyone here from nine club haha
I am, and this was even better than advertised. Proves everything he was talking about on there about being in the moment, adapting to his environment, and doing his own thing. Freaking inspiring as hell.
Such a sick episode
Brink wow you beat me to the comment hahaha
Absolutely! I could go for another 5 hours.
yes i'm also coming from there, that wonderful interview made me want to make a film about his life, the whole story was something so powerful!!

He is one of the best ever. Pure style. He's everything a skater should be. Just have fun and skate. Its so rad seeing the younger still respecting him.

The heart and soul of skateboarding.
18 tries and 3 boards later
mike just controlls the park when he is there everyone else stops for him
Probably because he's known for the cky video for fighting 4 jocks at once lol he's a beast. Definitely earned his respect!

So solid and so much seasoning it’s insane
Jeez that 1 footer is so high up on that extension!! Mike V so rad to watch 80s 90s street legend thanks 9 club
After watching recent footage of the dude who inspired me to start skating in the first place, all I want to do now is order an Elephant deck and shred.
I love how the crowd slowly gets closer
i dont care what anybody says he is better than more than than half or even 3/4 of those guys out there, mike is a beast!
not to mention he was one of the first ten pro skateboarders to be considered street. he had one of the first video parts of somebody just skateboarding down the street.

legend--idol--gardian of old school skate
Every year Mike V does something epic
Hardcore style gotta love Mike V!
one of the greats !!
Vaporizing boards. In Skateboardings history there's never been anyone better at entertaining a crowd. Sean Sheffey contest days come to mine as well.
hes the hero of skateboarding especially today
i love how small the crowd is at the beginning of the last trick and you can watch it slowly build with each shot.
So fresh! Love Mike V
Mike v I badass he keeps old school skating alive
I love this guy man, Legend!
Legend.
This vid made me love skateboarding a little more.
Great to see how dedicated he is, after all those years. Not the best skater but one of it's most dedicated icon. HOF material MIke V.
saw mike V do a nose pick and I had to do one. now it's my go to trick skating transition
BEAUTIFUL MY RESPECTS FOR HIM
Beautiful
if you wanna see him do all flippy and what he is doing here, look up his 90s skating or watch battle at the berrics: Mike Vallely vs Chris Cole!
Skateboarding isnt about fashion or how things should be done its bout representing your own style and being who YOU are. every skateboarder is different and has different style and that is what makes skateboarding what it is today without that every single trick would look exactly the same and it would be pointless
LEGEND!
Song?
Love the determination
Shredder
Mike turns up at Tampa Pro, says to himself 'i own this fucking place today' and then acts accordingly. - R E S P E C T -
Mike before the helmet was one of the rawest and gnarliest.
So so sick!!!
Are there any skate historians who know if Mike has ever been SOTY? I think on his Free Lunch he said he considered himself over-the-hill in '92, and he's still killing it to this day with no end in sight

most people here probably don't even understand who this man is and what's he's done for skateboarding. get your shit right, skateboarding isn't about who has the cooler clothes or the better sponsors. mike represents everything this lifestyle stands for.
Such a shredder!

I wouldn't go as far as to say it isn't accepted in that community, but I really do admire your positivity. I hope one day it will be abolished.
anyone know what the trick at one minute is called?
Did he break like 5 decks? Sick man, the greatest!
Anyone who doubts this guy's life long total dedication to skateboarding, and completely timless destroying power, needs to carefully watch his battle commander! Keep in keep in mind that he was over 40 fuckin' years old when he filmed that masterpiece!!!! What the fuck? Seriously.
