Vojtech Balik Looking cool and going fast should never, not even once, preside over tricks with skill. If that’s the case, then a run with someone doing Ollie’s and 180’s going super fast should win the content over someone doing hard technical tricks, but didn’t do them as stylish or fast. Why doesn’t Evan Smith win SLS every time then? He should. He’s fast and stylish. That’s way more important than doing hard tricks... wait no, it’s not. That’s why in almost every major contest, tricks win over style and speed. Why would they not?
Right? I saw that. That's his personality in a nutshell. Busenitz there skating and having fun, but Nyjah the type of guy to throw rocks in his way if no one was watching just so he can win.
PattyMayonnaise yea nyjah is definitely the asshole of skateboarding. He’s a crazy good skateboarder and all but he got that corporate stick so far up his ass
don't think so, this was insane back then, differnt standards today, watch the Tampa AM 2021 winning run, level now is just insane (and pls don't compare it to Dennis's style, I'm talking trick difficulty)
I enjoy me some skateboarding talk. I personally grew up with 2000s and those were my fave. Tampa 2000 was amazing and still watch it to this day. Dennis is amazing
@@tracker4854 yeah i skated mostly in the 2000s being born in the early 90s. the culture of skating was alot more involving in the 2000s forsure but i was more talking about the skill level that people reached in the 2011-2016 era, by that time me and my friends had graduated high school and didnt skate as much but watching the current up and comers and pros of the first half of the 2010s was just mind blowing to me.
@@AaronConnorM for sure man. I know what you mean. I got that sense from a lot of the shortys and Osiris riders from back in the day. I feel they were so ahead of their time and then that huge progress you talk about came and it’s just mind blowing how far it’s gone in skill now
Damn things have changed. None of this was that hard for a pro but hit he hit every obstacle with a different bag of tricks that got him points so he won.
it's kinda unfair because Dennis is a legend by this time, and he skated China Banks in the late 90's. So competing with kids and on this kid's playground is nothing for him.
Hace 10 años ya?! Joder como pasa el tiempo... me voy a la calle a patinar, que me cualquier día me caen 40 años encima y no podré ni levantar el culete.
All the skaters this year would use the 1/4's to get off their board and turn around. Dennis had style and bad a** tricks on every wall. Stop rewarding the crap skating we had this year.
This dude is insanely overrated. He just skateboards a little bit faster than everyone else. Every trick he does is basic as hell. I’m not just talking about this video either. I’ve watched him over and over and I can’t understand why he is even a top professional. I wouldn’t put him in my top 5,000
dendriovos People get hyped for Evan Smith too and he never has a winning run. The crowd being hyped doesn’t change the fact that nothing he does is a banger.
I think that he has a very natural style. Someone in the comments said "the other skaters are doing tricks, he is skateboarding" Than is not that easy being so fast an precise
1 Shane O'Neill trick is better than Dennis Busenitz's whole run. Can't understand why Dennis is a SOTY nominee. He does not do bangers, ever. It's always just a bunch of simple/mediocre tricks.
yeah, front blunt up a hubba, switch blunt nollie flip, back noseblunt a ~6 foot qp, kickflip up a 5, all super mediocre. Now I really wanna watch what you do at your local park. You must be amazing if you're capable of putting this down.
bloebachable It's not always about the tricks. Dennis has flow and skates gnarly terrain. Shane and Dennis are sick in their own way. It's so hard to judge in contests because everybody has their own style and strategy.
The best thing I heard about this event was this: "Everyone else was doing tricks. Dennis was skateboarding".
how it should be :)
I don’t get it. So we should forget the value of tricks because people like how Dennis looks when he skates?
Ben Shippin lol stfu you missed the point.
True bro :)
so doing tricks isnt skateboarding? wow ill just make sure i roll around from now on and stop there
Fun fact, if Dennis made that 360 Ollie he'd still be skating that line today. Ten years later.
Sad lie.
Greatest contest run ever, he nailed everything with style
This run is mad overrated lmao. Good for its time, it's been 8 years since. 3rd place amateurs put together beast runs present day.
@@moegerms hey, style matters everything doesn't have to be crazy if you can do it good or anything it's style for sure
Overrated run
@@moegerms The best thing about the run is he just keeps going you watch these dudes now at Tampa trick, stop, set up repeat. Shit boring to watch.
@@moegerms I'd rather watch dennis buzenits skate fast doing none stop flowing tricks than a bot flipping in and out of every grind
It’s pretty crazy to see how the park has changed in six years. I kind of like this set up a little more
Yeah its crazy how much flow there is to be had (as shown here) with so much going on it seems a lot less flowy now or spread out
That's one of the sickest contest runs of all time.
thx 4 exist man, im keep watching this all my life, and each time impressive one more time
i've watched this so many times now
Watching him skate in person is a trip..
damn, an experience i'd want to have for sure!
I was there during this run. It was like watching magic. Footage doesn't do him justice.
I think what sealed the deal with this winning run, was that he skated the WHOLE PARK!
I remember watching his part in Real to Reel back when we were both kids. It would be my "get amped up" video part before we'd skate!
Was there live it was epic never forget that day
one of the best skaters of all time
Onlyone that reminds me huf
I watch this video 2 times per year, after tampa am and tampa pro, just to check if this still is the best run, it still is!
Dope! Love Dennis style and speed when skateboarding !!
One of the best winning pro runs!
James Reeves amateur* it's an amateur competition
This was Tampa Pro dummy
Really? One of the best? There are thousands of skaters that could land all of the basic tricks he just landed.

15 tricks in this run. Carlos won with 7 this year.
such a sick style
best run on Tampa ever. There is no question.
FACT
Everyone was cheering and stoked!!
Except Nyjah. Lmao
Saw that too lol

The Murder City Devils - Idle Hands
Anyone know the song??

J Cassanova stands there stone faced too.
