It could only be made better if that cutout was also vacuum-actuated, that way it automatically wakes up when you romp on it and gets its power back now that its free-flowing, or otherwise stays open when you hit the button if you want the impressive idle rumble.

If any exhaust builder wants to impress me, it will be by building a QUIET exhaust that's also low restriction - that van would have been a great platform as there's a lot of space underneath.

Vehicle engineering always amazes me. If you think about how much abuse every part of a vehicle takes over its lifetime - from the engine and transmission to the little clips holding on the trim, the parts are engineered to basically last forever with minimal upkeep. Seriously blows my mind.Things generally only fail when abused or neglected. Great video!

@totallybonkers I have to disagree, somethings on cars and trucks have gotten much better. However while some things are better the more stuff made of plastic that should be made of metal break and in some cases can cause engine or transmission failure. He'll my 2015 Camaro SS is a Green Flash edition the plastic that hold on the lip spoiler has disintegrated and they don't make any replacements. The LS engine though was built to last at least 500,000 miles I've seen 4 that have all work trucks. Ford on the other hand builds their engines to fail after warranty runs out if they make it that long.

I’ve gotta say, one of the major reasons why I love watching your channel, my friend, over a vast majority of others I enjoy is the fact that you are a perpetual screwball during your narrations in exactly the same way I am. But in that whole jovial descriptive narrative content, you provide intensely specific, relevant, and interesting detail unlike most other channel operators. It’s honestly no wonder why your subscriber base continues to grow simply by watching and listening to such an enjoyable presentation of pretty much every subject you cover regardless of what other characters come in and out of the channel. There is no doubt that if I had any sort of product I was selling/pitching to consumers that was relevant to your audience, I would no doubt have your channel on the top of my list as an advertising venue. Nice work my friend. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

Not heavy on the gas at all and loaded with work tools it was a problem in the rain and snow was a disaster. Installed a Detroit locker don't have problems in the rain but waiting for snow to see how it works. Good luck with your build.

LS yes, mostly. LS3, no. LS3s are an all aluminum version of a 6.2, available in cars only, not vans or trucks. This, and all vans and trucks, are called the LQ platform. Very similar, and yes an LS platform with interchangeable parts, but with a cast iron cylinder block, and 6.0 liter maximum. LS1- start of new platform about 1999, cathedral ports. LS2, similar but transversely mounted for use in front wheel drive cars. LS3 about 2004 introduced new heads with rectangular ports and an increase to 6.2 liters. LS4 basically an LS2 with at 5.3 with the rectangular ports, for sideways mounted engines. LS5 was a big block from the 70s so they didnt use the code again. LS6 actually came in 2001 right after the LS1, high performance LS1 fir corvette use. LS7 was a the largest LS available at 427 cubes, about 06. LS8, not used. LSA, supercharged LS3 version for vettes and camaros and fast cadillacs. Ls9, is an even more premium supercharged version for top end corvettes. Titanium rods and stronger parts. There are many other differences in these. The blanket term LS is technically a GM Small Block Gen 3, which is called an LQ engine engine in truck, with a cast iron block. Very few special versions of trucks were shortly available with an all aluminum engine. Its very confusing, especially since GM is reusing many of the same codes they used in the 70s. A 1970 454 big block chevy is also called an LS6 for example

I know you're going for the patina look, but I'd recommend upgrading those headlights. At the speeds that van's going to be capable of, you need better headlights.

Continental also makes garden hoses, some of which are made from bio material rather then rubber (in case someone is allergic or just want to do something for nature). Used mine for years and they hold up really well.

I was talking to my wife today while driving and said “I’m telling you we are gonna see the Steve driving his urus. It’s green and it has no front plate” like fifteen minutes later he drove past us going the opposite way in traffic. 😂 I just had a good feeling 😂

Here in Europe, E95 is 2 out of 3 pumps at every gas station. It's a little cheaper than normal petrol, but you use more of it per km driven, so it balances out price wise

You need to pipe the diversion cutout on the exhaust back into the tailpipe or add a second pipe out to the back on the other side as it sounds like a Demolition derby car with it dumping under the van and I can't imagine the drone inside the van while that exhaust is open. Sweet build though, not many can haul carpet then haul ass right after! LOL

Best vid yet!. I'm a vanaholic.... Back in the early 90's I put a Lingenfelter big small block in an Astrovan. Passed emissions for the 4.3v6 yet with a bit of spray went 11's at GLD. It was a panel And I had slicks and a jack with me at all times. Set up the race on 215 tires with 5 minutes "for adjustments" lol. Kinda psyched out the competition seeing my GF slide the jack under the pumpkin and lift the tires while I rolled out the slicks... PS.. it would go 13's with my ZX-11 in the back!

As someone who did this himself, at home on a 383 Vortech SC 1988 IROC in the early 1990s with a stand-alone DFI box replacing the stock ECU, and having to tweak it myself over a serial cable connection using a Toshiba T1000 (circa 1987) laptop to get it to run right, the era before self-tuning existed, and converting it from MAF to MAP (speed density), I really appreciate this.

I also like to rotate the engine until the particular cylinder being worked on is at TDC. On most engines this means even if the valve falls, it will stop before it cannot be retrieved. Also, most of the time the valve seal will keep the valve from falling, so that's your last safety item if something goes wrong. This more applies to the originals, if you've changed them with fresh lubed ones they don't have as much grip.

Continental also makes car radios/cd players! They’re actually a favorite of older (late 1970s to early 90s) Mercedes owners because the single DIN radios are a perfect upgrade for when the Becker radio/tape decks give up the ghost.

A lot of people complained that there's not a lot of room to work under the hood of these Vans, but once you get the airbox out of the way, you have lots of room.
The nice thing with the LS Engines, you can get a kit to put them in pretty much anything.
Someone should make a kit, to make an LS work in a, Land Rover/Range Rover.

I subscribed. Can’t wait to see how this comes out. I’m in the process of doing a cam and injectors, valves springs and push rods on my chevy 2500. I was going to charge it but the cost was so high so I decided to go camshaft and all motor and see what she can do with a good tune. I’m figuring around 500hl at the wheels will be perfect. I already did a jasper transmission with larger torque converter so I am ready to dive into the motor.
So this channel is right up my alley. Also appreciate the tip on fuel injector connection company. Since I basically have an LS platform I am able to get decent injector options. Great content.

The van work is incredible, just the way I like it: ratty patina on the outside, cool new and uprated parts underneath. Much happier seeing that the insulating covers for the new dual fuel pump's wiring connections both exist & have been installed. Was Really not happy seeing no covers on them in the last video (horrible place for sparking or an electrical fire ...).

Continental bought VDO - I live around the corner from one of the former VDO engineering and test centers. Friend of the family worked there (before it became part of Continental) and took me out for a ride in a test mule Bentley Conti GT in the early 2000s, when I was 6 or something like that. One of the reasons why I got into cars, he worked at Porsche before and talked to me about cars at every birthday party where he was invited - funnily enough his favorite Porsche was a 944 Turbo, he said it was at the time the way better car than the 911 Turbo (which he almost crashed at the time while exiting the Autobahn).
