Trying to get FA07 to work and it doesn't. Brand new mic, everything seems to be set the way it should be, but, when I speak into the mic, there's absolutely nothing. Aggravating.
Vocoders always sound better if a harmonic rich tone is used. Organ sounds don't have enough harmonics to bring out the voice, so always pick something brash and buzzy, you can always apply a bit of EQ afterwards.
Hey! Nice to see that someone share his experience with the vocoder on the FA series. It looks like it's possible to use the vocoder effect on any patch, nice. The only thing is since you have use it on a low pitch organ it was hard to hear the notes and your voice on the vocoder effect. You should try with higher notes and also with other sounds like piano or brass ensemble or vocal sounds. I'll try on mine but I'm not that good to upload videos on RUclips. Anyway thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Thanks that video helped get it working on my FA08 and I didn't know about the other patches . You can vary the amount of mic signal vs the vocoder effect too. cheers
Thanks for the tutorial. I just got my FA06 and the tutorial helped a lot. But I noticed a whole lot of choir sounds don't have the vocoder option and that's kind of surprising.
HeyJawnyb2, I have a Roland FA-08 and I want to use the Vocoder Feature. I connected my mic and switch the button from guitar input to MIC. Then I selected the SAW Lead 4 patch and went into the Effect Edit Menu and scroll to the vocoder(68) option in Part 1 (MFX). The sound does not stop playing when I select the Vocoder. What could be the problem and how do I solve it?
Been trying with my FA 07 with absolutely no luck. I have no idea why it isn't working. Maybe the mic is the issue. I returned the microphone. But, I still wanna have the ability to use the vocoder effect.
Thanks for posting these! My FA-08 will be here next week. I've played it at guitar center a hundred times. Cramming on tutorials so you've been a big help. Nice voice. Wisconsin? Dakota?
Roland after 1,5 year has released a new system update 1.03 for Roland Fa series with bug fixes and its new 'additional function': Support for the ONKYO UWF-1 Wireless USB Network Adapter is like a slap in the face to all Roland FA users. THanks Roland for listening to your users' requests.
Great, but any keyboard with a vocoder function really should have a top surface mounted XLR socket so you can easily plug in a gooseneck mic! Annoys me when the mic socket is at the back so you have to set up a mic stand and cable, and it's not even XLR, it's 1/4 inch!
Question- your example shows the MFX as vocoder - now can you add additional post effects and if so how many? For instance, the JD-Xi allows you to do vocoder then 4 post fx
I don't have the keyboard with me right now, but i believe you can still use the tfx. You just have to use the one mfx slot for the vocoder so you don't have that slot to use anymore.
The mic I was using was condenser, no phantom power on the fa06, but I think condenser is better for vocoder. You want something super directional so there isn't ambient noise.
Sure, you could run the output of the fa06 into an external talkbox. Talkbox combined with the vocoder is a great sound. A Vocoder isn't the same as a talkbox though. There are similarities in the sounds for sure but they are two quite different effects, generated in different ways.
I fall in love with my FA07 every time I switch it on , there’s always something new I find on it ❤️

Thanks for a great "how-to" demo! I've had my board close to 2 years and haven't yet tried out the vocoder, but now I need it... your demo is perfect.

Hey Timothy. How would I go about having mic signal in there as well?
Thank you soooo much man..I just bought the 06 and I had no idea I could do this! You rock.

I love you, you just saved me paying for a vocoder
Is only the mic as source possible? Or can i use for example the drum track instead of voice from mic?
Jawnyb2 - Well done my friend. Thank you. Make more vocoder vides these are great.
Wow Great Video , didn't even know there was one on this board

Is it possible to use the vocoder with a choir sound to get something similar to the VP-550, VP-770 or VP-7?

That is so cool!!! Now I really have to get this board it's like a poor man version of the Kronos now I don't have to go outside my Roland collection
Can you sample the vocoder sounds to one of the 16 pads?
Thought the Korg Kroma was a cool workstation but this might be even better.
Great tutorial.
hey thanks for this video. I'm considering buying the fa 06. how are you liking it?
does the filter and resonance work with the vocoder?

I saw your cable is mono , I have stereo cable with sterling st51 can be a problem ? Because I can't hear anything thank you for your help
Can you use a headset?
Anybody know how you can get a Korg Ms20-ish sound on this keyboard??

OK, but how do we make this work inside a Studio Set?? Not working for me.
i think the vocoder sound has to be track one
This is great! Is there a way to record yourself and use that sound as a sample up and down the keyboard?
you can sample yourself directly into the keyboard using a mic, but u can only really play it through the sample pads.
So no way to record singing voice onto the keyboard into a track in the sequencer?
@@charbax ,Yes you can then record sample pad hits (triggering vocal samples) into the midi sequencer.
You are a Brilliant Human
Thank you SO much for this!
Question the mic is condenser or dynamic the fa06 has Phantom power?

Can you use a headset instead of a mic?
Can someone please help me on how to record this vocoder in sonar?
The old fashioned way : connect the audio outputs of the synth to your audio interface inputs and record it in an audio track in SONAR.
