I'm a singer guitarist and flautist and have worked as a musician almost all my life, I'm 66 and last month I decided to buy a keyboard to see if I could learn to play it. After a long search and many demonstration videos about various keyboards, I decided on the Roland FA-06. Having already known Roland for many years, since I have played with several keyboardists and they all had Roland keyboards, my choice was therefore influenced by my past on stage with other musicians. I have also owned a Roland MT-120s sequencer for at least 20-25 years, which has accompanied me during the many years of work, with excellent results. When still very young I started playing with other young musicians, there were only pianists or organists, keyboardists began to exist with Emerson and Wakeman, who at every concert needed a truck just for their instruments, Hammond Piano, Mellotron, Moog. Rick Wakeman, a pipe church organ was also brought to concerts. Today technology has meant that in a small keyboard like the FA, you can have everything that these great keyboard players had at their disposal, during their concerts and in the recording studio. Thank you Ed, for everything you teach in your videos. To you the merit of mastering this fantastic keyboard and teaching anyone who wants to learn, things that do not exist in the instruction book. Great Ed 😉
Excellent ed, I'm impressed with how upgraded the synth engine on the entry level workstation is for organs, since the organ sounds on the previous generation entry level were very lacking, awesome video Roland should give you a bonus on making this videos keep Up the good work
I want to thank you very much from BELGIUM, Ed, for the great video's you made for us. I have the FA-06 and I love it. Thanks to you I understand it better and sooner. I have a wonderfull synth and an even more wonderful teacher. Respect, Ed ! Kind regards. Ronny Buermans.
The FA is quite amazing. Everything works as expected, easy, complete.. Great board and the price is low too. The usb audio implementation is much better than a korg kronos for example.. Love the FA..use it every day. Well done Roland
Cool video!! Great help in giving ideas to improve the organ sounds.. I am new to the FA and can use all the tips I can get.. Thank you so much for the videos you produce..
I love my Integra-7 and am really interested in this. I hope Roland will consider adding the Vibrato/Chorus to their tonewheel engines in both of these instruments.
Ola Ed Diaz! Parabéns pelos videos, são incríveis!!! Existe a possibilidade de controla os drawbars dos órgãos do Roland FA atraves do controlador da Roland linha a pro 500, atraves da conexão midi?
Just like the original Hammonds. And the overdrive HERE is very magnificent, They understand their craftsmanship. Unlike the Hammond sound on the vr models.
Please please please! Would be Axial so kind to re-make "John Lord" organs (SRX 97 board ) wich were made for free for those buyers who were buying -Fantom G . Only 12 sounds but the best ones. ( I am thinking to buy Fantom for the sake of these cool organs. But i would be happier to have an FA with such sounds!!!)
OK, that was really cool. Can any tone be tweaked this way in the Roland? Such as a Clavichord (Wah Clavi)? I'm trying to recreate a rotor organ tone and wah clavi tone I really like. And more importantly, can they be combined in varying degrees with the dual function?
Gold! I'm telling you now Ed, I don't need to, but once I learn how to use my FA 06 as a DAW -- Is going to be a WRAP! I may double my production and get my streams on Spotify way way way up. btw what do you use for your hair lol
Thanks for this! Question: With the FA-06/08 is it possible to save a preset to generate stylophone types of sounds, with gliding between notes - and can the gliding be customized?
I think it's a serious design oversight that there is no vibrato/chorus vibrato parameter feature on the tonewheel organ section.I've had to use the chorus effect to simulate it but it's not the same.
Tom McConnell yeah. They include percussion and all the parameters for it, but no C/V? They could have at least had C2 or C3 to be toggled by the SW 2 button
Hi, I try to use a split: bass on the left, organ with rotary pedal on the right. When I activate the rotarypedal, it affects also the basspart: the bass becomes slap-style or is being cut of. So how can I attach a rotarypedal in the right way?
I haven't done it myself but I'm positive you can. At a guess you would plug the pedal into either Channel 1 or Channel 2, same area whee you plug in your damper pedal, and then go into one of the menus where you can program what you want the expression pedal to do - in this case increase and decrease in volume. I'm not in front of my board to try it myself so someone please fact check me on all that.
as expensive this Roland it is don't know why they don't do like native intrument and make their own daw software and be able to open it the same way as maschine from native instrument have it set up to open it as AU-plug. this keayboard is powerful but man seen more complicated to me but I getting slowly to it
Ed has helped me so much learning this complex workstation with so many tools

Hello Ed, can I use the six knobs for change the organ tone and effect ?
How can i active vibrato/chrus effect in organ section? I can't find it, can you help me please? Thanks!
How to assign s1 buton to activate the rotary?

Can I do this on the RD-88 organs?
How do you get a fender rhodes sound on the roland FA 06?
Question. Does an expression pedal work with this, making it louder and/or softer like on a real organ?
I haven't done it myself but I'm positive you can. Tyler is correct, I do this with my fa06
