    The X-Men theme is what's selling me on this as a fan of the 90s cartoon. Plus even though there are no expansions there's some custom content out there with new characters like Nightcrawler, Bishop, Cable, and plots like The Legacy Virus.

    Looks rather simple, but the X-Men theme makes it a must-buy... Was waiting for a Playthrough of this since last summer, thank you 😁👍

    In the showdown, where does it say you have to do both objectives on a side. It says you put successes at the bottom until equal to players -1. So on left or right mission, you would only have to do one.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 года назад

      Oh really? I thought each card had a success requirement. I will check!

    • @marshallmanna

      I think you would need 1 success for each mission. You dont have to do both objectives to count as one success.

    Liked this one a lot. It does need a couple expansions though. Can’t wait for those (if they make them).

    I knew it was similar to Elder Sign, but I also see a bit of Arkham 3rd with the scenario cards.
    Although this was the intro scenario, I was surprised how much the game snowballed. It seemed like the victories just kept compounding, but if you lost a mission, the setbacks would compound too.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 года назад

    Rolling a pool of dice makes a lot more thematic sense for a Lovecraftian game than a Marvel game. Plus, in Elder Sign you use mostly the same dice pool every time and you lose a die from your pool each time you fail a task on an adventure card, so the tension continually rises as you work on an adventure card. It's no surprise that this game is currently sitting at a 6.5 out of 10 rating on BGG, while most good to great games typically range from 7.5 to 8.5.

      Given that there are boardgamers on BGG that actually hate dice I trust their pretentious opinions about as far as I can throw Hulk. But I can see where this mechanic may not work for heroes. I will try it since I grew tired of Elder Sign and its awful rules. There is always ebay if it sucks

    Yeah, tiny text saying 01A seems silly, but there is only one card called. Avowed Dream, so it’s really a non issue…
    Just an FYI.
    During the last few turns you took, you could have still assisted a Phoenix.
    The rules (page 10) state that when a hero becomes the active hero, you can choose to be assisted or not.
    So you could have still had X24 assist Phoenix, which would have made it a touch easier. Not that you needed it, but wanted to bring this up in case a new player was watching, they would know that you could do this.
    Cheers and thank for the handy play through!

    Thanks for the playthrough Colin. I was really looking for an in-depth look on Mutant Insurrection. I am still on the fence on this one. I have all the Elder Sign content and still wondering if I might enjoy this one enough to justify another purchase of almost the same game as ES. The dumbed down features don‘t really help this decision either.

    I play this game with my dad and have fun! I'm glad you won but I think you might have done the end wrong. The rules to us seemed like it was saying completing an objective gives you a token, not fully beating the mission. So playing with 2 people you only need to complete one line on each card. That makes it a lot easier though so maybe you are right!!

      @@OneStopCoopShop too bad! It seems easier than elder sign, which is not bad. Elder sign, especially the story expansions, (Alaska, Egypt, the Deep) are extremely difficult in my opinion and while I like the story mechanics, luck is never on my side. Asmodée/FFG are turning the MU into a games for simpletons franchise. Not a critique on those playing of course, but the games are so easy. Worst offender Marvel Champions where you are literally going through the motions to win, somehow they've come up with something even simpler. Pass. :/

      @@OneStopCoopShop I agree, but I also agree with a comment you made during the video. Other (better?) games have been crying out for reprints and expansions. Your example is a good one, but look at the popularity of Runebound, Imperial Assault, Descent even Heroes of Terrinoth, all these examples require reprints. Outer Rim at least one expansion introducing a viable solo mode. All ignored, Asmodee are turning to the popular market, whereas FFG are/were known for producing immersive games with plenty of replayability. I bought MC up to Ant-Man, but it's just not challenging enough and repetative, when the only way to make it more difficult is to draw an extra encounter card, suspicion is that the whole thing was overlooked in the design. I'm even thinking of selling the whole MC collection but I'm holding out as I don't want to do it on a gut reaction. They would make a killing on reprinting Unbreakable Bonds for Runebound, I was one of the lucky ones, for all those that want a good solo experience you must have it. It is proof that they can adapt a game, as they did also with Fallout.
