Thank you, guys, for doing this review. I was having trouble resisting the urge to run out to my local game store and buy yet another game which I rarely have an opportunity to play. Now that urge is gone.

Always fun hearing Zee talk about a game and finding out what hat Tom is wearing. Well that opens a door. Let's go, bust it man! Breach! 😂
I really like the gameplay of Elder Sign, so I was a little dissapointed in this TBH... Changed the main rolling mechanism? The small font? I don't think I'll pick it up.
Awesome review; love the format and information. The fact they have not provided enough bases for all the standees automatically means I will not be buying this game (changing the bases every game will put me off playing). Thank you for the review 😀
Ouch. 3/4 of the components are just amazing and the artwork looks great. It’s also nice to have a game that doesn’t feature Thanos or Infinity Stones. It’s too bad they didn’t let this cook a bit longer before it was released.
I have completly opposite opinion. I think every change from Elder Sign system is improvment. As for relations, it adds emotion because even if it would be best to go together you need to spread.
Typical FFG shorting you on something. Always trying to cut corners. I adore Elder Sign....I own everything in it. This does not seem to live up to the expectation that Elder Sign set.

I've been playing this game all week, and certainly like it better than Elder Sign. It certainly has it's issues, but it's much less luck based than Elder Sign thanks to each hero having it's own unique set of dice. So it's very satisfying in that regard.
I don't live in the U.S.A. I bought the game and I am waiting to receive it, no one better to decide if it is good than yourself, also the reviews are varied, some say it is great, so I will play it and find out.
Good review even though the ratings are disappointing for what looked like a promising game. I enjoy watching the back-and-forth with the guys as much if not more so than the review outcome itself. 😃
Here's what this game really is: FFG is prepping their X-Men art library for bigger games and probably content for Marvel Champions and this game is an old engine lying around ripe for easy reskin so they can try and easily monetize and pay for some of that art production.
Yikes. A few years ago a good chunk of my collection were FFG games. Now, post asmodee and without Christian and Corey, I can't remember the last ffg product I bought.
@@rjaredhamby they mentioned in an interview from last year that OR will be getting expansion/s 2022 along with other SW board games. They’re also working on a SW card game.
@@skinflutey ah, thanks. I remember there being an interview where it was mentioned but I didn't realize it was 2022. Dang, that seems like a long time in a board game market where a month old game is old news.
All fair criticisms. I feel the ability to dogpile missions and keep completed objectives without doing the whole card actually makes this easier than it looks. A lot of times you can safely ignore missions that don’t actively move you forward. One thing I do like is that you can meaningfully contribute even if you can only clear one objective. You don’t have one player running the game cause they got lucky and are rolling in good items and spell cards.
I haven't played this yet but have play a decent amount of Elder Sign. I really don't like Elder Sign because it feels like a lot of Arkham games, in which I feel like I'm on an island most of the game and my fellow players are just off doing their own thing and we're hoping it all comes together. This looks much more interesting to me personally, do to the encouragement to be working together with my fellow players. Also enjoy that this appears to be constantly working towards the showdown vs ES it feels like that's the opposite which when I'm on that island not pulling my own weight I feel like I'm letting the team down. That's just me anyhow
Played solo last night. It's okay. Definitely would feel better playing with others, but even then it's doing a disservice to the X-men IP. So glad Marvel United is such a better implementation of a game. Looking forward to the X-Men expansion kickstarting this year.

I don't think Asmodee is to blame here. All their other companies have continued producing quality products. In fact, FFG started cutting corners and going in other directions a few years before Asmodee came in. They had already started dumping their euros into Wind Rider games and focused on micro transactions equivalent packs with their LCGs, Xwing, Armada, Descent 2 and Imperial Assault, selling dice packs and templates in separate packs. They have 4 or 5 gaming mechanics they are recycling in all their games now. To the point they now feel generic and played out. - The deck of damage cards where you get them faceup instead of facedown when critical. - The tokens to spend to turn symbols into successes on dice or cards. - The Flightpath system. - The AI monster movement system that is basically just a card draw from a small deck dedicated to each monster type, first found in Gears of War, now hidden into their apps for Mansion of Madness, Lord of the Rings adventure games... - etc. We just recognize the stitches between their gameplay elements. None of their games trully feels new because of this.
