  • I just Wanted to do a short video on what worked for me to fix any chambering issues I would’ve had with my 350 legend. At one point in the video I reference the lugs being in the chamber, I should have said the barrel extension.

    Great advice! I removed my barrel and polished my feed ramps and chamber as you advised. I also relieved the front of my mag maybe 1/16” because I noticed long scratches on my brass from feeding across the mag. My 350 Legend BCA upper AR now feeds and functions flawlessly!! Before doing this it was absolute junk. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

      Glad to hear it worked for you! It’s a pretty simple fix. Out of the box, these BCA’s are what they are, but a little work and they can be great shooters. Good luck!

      DItto! My local gunsmith did it for me pretty cheap and it feeds flawlessly now. Mine was even bending the case a bit with the longer rounds. No problem with my home rolled Lehigh extreme defenders, which is what I plan to hunt with. Thx for the vid!

    Your method works. I’ve done this on my 10.5 inch barrel on my AR and only had 3 failures to feed.
    Before it wouldn’t go into battery on the first shot.
    Now after cleaning and polishing it a second time using your method it runs as it should no matter the grain bullet.
    Thank you!

    I’ve had similar issues with a lot of my brass getting gouged or shaved. My chamber had very sharp edges at the end, so I polished those a bit and took off the sharp edges, which helped dramatically. I’ll have to try the bore mop polishing for the chamber!

    I've tried twice building a 350 with no luck. I tried an AR Stoner barrel both times with the same feeding issue. I tried minor cleaning the feed ramps, modding the mag, no luck. I want to try again with an Anderson complete 350 upper, but once again concerned about the feeding issue. After watching this, I think I'm gonna give it one last try with Anderson, and if I run into any issues, I'll do what you did. Thanks for posting 👍

    I polished the feed ramps on the barrel and on the receiver. I know they don't recommend doing the receiver because it uses protection by anodized but it helped a whole lot more and it solved the problem. I do like the chamber polish because once in a while it will catch in there so I will try that. Thanks

    Hmmm.Mine is damaging the case as it basically stove pipes.Did the feed ramps and tried multiple mags.I just pulled it apart and ordered a new Bca barrel.Should have sent it back under warranty,but it's usually a simple fix like you did. Now I'm at the point that I'm not risking a bad failure. If the new barrel wont work on the bca Complete upper receiver, I'll take another one I'm not using and try that upper. Ive had a 6.5 Grendel that shot 1 hole groups but wouldn't cycle. Out of spec upper.Its still running flawlessly after the change and the upper went to the landfill.

    I built my 350 with a faxon barrel, just installed it no tinkering or anything and I've not had any feeding issues at all. The only reliability issues I've ever had with the rifle are specifically with the Winchester 145 grain fmj stuff short strokes it just a hair. I think a lighter buffer would fix that but it runs my hunting loads just fine so I'm not going to mess with it.

      Baron, I'm considering a 350 build and Faxon is my preferred barrel mfgr (their 20" is calling me). I've seen some complaints that the M4 feed ramps don't match the barrel extension. Have you noticed anything of that nature? If so, you have mentioned no issues at all, so there must not be the issues others have complained about. Thoughts?

    • @jasunderlan
      @jasunderlan  2 года назад +3

      Faxon does make great barrels. I have one on my 6.5 grendel. They use a big bore (or single) feed ramp which is really just one feed ramp. Used by A lot of manufacturers on the 450BM and 50 Beowulf. BCA uses this on their 450BM barrels and a 300BO feed ramp on the 350 legend. The 300BO feed ramp is wider than the standard feed ramp you will find on most 5.56 barrels.

    When you polished your feed ramp did you attach the Dremel polisher to a dowel rod ?
    Also did you wrap steel wool around it as well.
    I did look at the link for the Dremel kit and also says wool.
    So the look of the steel wool on your video is by adding steel wool
    around the polisher yourself or the result of it having steel wool
    In the Dremel tip ?
    Thanks, Great Video. !!

      Same issue with my x39 I changed the angle a little and made the feed ramp longer so the round was hitting the ramp as soon as it came out the mage my ramp was a little to high the nose of the round would catch it so dropped it down some with a better angle and polished it and no more issues

    I’ve watched lots of videos with people having feeding issues with 350 legend as did I with my first barrel whose name I shall not not mention. Most people mess with the magazines but I have professed from the beginning it is a barrel extension problem and not a magazine issue. I currently have 2 ar350 legends one with a mos-tek barrel and one with a faxon barrel. Both barrels have larger and more shallow feed ramps. Never had an issue with either one.

    • @jasunderlan
      @jasunderlan  3 года назад +5

      It’s ok to call out BCA…. Their barrels are budget and with some work can be good shooters and made to function properly. I have not messed with any mags. In fact if you look close, my upper does not have a forward assist. After doing this process, I’ve had very few feeding issues. I took my daughter to the range a few weeks ago and we put close to 50 rounds though it without any FTF. I knew going into it, that I’d need to do some work and I was ok with that. I also lap my uppers…. Everyone of them. PSA, Anderson, AERO….. just for piece of mind.

      What do you mean by “lap my uppers” ?

    • @brawdys
      @brawdys 3 года назад

      To me its a "stacking tolerances" issue: feed ramp+magazines+ammo. It is for most ppl a feed ramp issue, I have seem some feed ramps (wont name the maker), made me think wtf were they thinking. Not only BCA. I have a Faxon barrel, it fed most ammo. I still had trouble with some Hornady, would jam about 1/4 of the time. Cutting about 1/4 inch off the feed lips fixed the problem. I will get around to polishing the ramps.
      SInce this is a straight walled cartridge that headspaces off the case mouth I am leery of polishing the chamber. If you take too much, or in the wrong area, you can get all the problems of improper headspace - high pressure, case head separation, etc. idk that I would recommend ppl polish the chamber. too many ppl have the "moar is better" attitude and will end up with headspace issues.

    • @jasunderlan
      @jasunderlan  3 года назад +1

      @@brawdys I think cutting 1/4” off the feed ramps seems balls’y but if it worked for you then good on you. To me using AL polish is very mild and doing just enough to get it smooth has very little risk of messing with the dimensions of the chamber.

    not only does it smash the point but it kinks against the brass as well agaisnt the ridge of the chamber. at least on both of mine it does/did. i polished mine as well and sounds like i was getting similar results as you but i went ahead and modifying and now there are absolutly no issues at all. just have to flar out and make a little step up in the forward third of the magazine to allow the shell to jump out to the proper angle sooner and then the bolt goes into battery nice and smooth every single time on every single round. if you can hand rack through an entire 10 round mag and not feel one single shell hang up then great. your set to go but if you have one or 2 shells hanging up a little, usually the first shell and the last 2 shells, then a simply mag modification will take the rifle from 95% good to go to 99%. the mags also work noticably better and smoother in my girlfriends ruger american as well.
