In the USA, an ambulance alone would have cost you $1,500 so i can just imagine what the cost would have been for the surgery. In Australia it's between $Au450 to $Au1,300, depending on the emergency. I hope you're doing better

as a US medical doctor living in SE Asia if I may comment; # have noticed some private hospitals super inflate prices if you are tourist or foreigner, basically see you as a cash machine # another big concern in Bali with the terrible traffic is if you have a life threatening injury or illness you could die in traffic # a private hospital in SE Asia told me I needed a very expensive complex surgery but a neurosurgeon friend trained in Canada reviewed my case and said absolutely NO REASON for it. If doing a surgery that is not indicated is not bad enough add on the risks of general anesthesia, infection, etc, etc just to generate money. #15,000 USD for an open reduction no hardware and tendon repair ankle in Indonesia is crazy expensive. Public hospitals use many of the same doctors that work at private ones and the quality tends to be the same though less amenities. In USA we have a big problem called private equity = corporations run hospitals for profit mainly and less about patient care. # medical insurance is good to have but even if you have it what hospitals can do is demand inflated cash payment in full up front and after your insurance company will just reimburse normal reasonable charges.

You should always get travel insurance get the wound take care of with anti bacterial and get another doctor opinion back in china many hospitals overseas try to offer you services you don't really need.

Get insurance Byanca, actually Bali or Indonesia does not that much expensive in healthcare comparing US , (well some private well-known hospital in Indonesia are actually expensive but you have other options), it was just you are foreigner so they charge you more. btw you are beautiful. Tbh, if that was American hospitals it will be way more expensive. European hospital might be better than Indonesian private hospital interm of cost and some facilities. But yeah, sadly that was normal for private hospital here in Indonesia to be that expensive, but if i have to guess is because our government regulations interm of health is not that good keeping people to have affordable healthcare, it's not helping the fact that our custom are insanely strict about anything including drugs that want to enter Indonesia, idk why Indonesian government didn't yet addressed that problem, so yeah😅 be safe.

You were the victim of the accident. Why the guy who caused the accident didn’t pay for your injury? The motorbike taxi driver should have paid for your injury because you were his client. I am an Uber driver. Uber insurance will cover my rider’s injury whether I am at fault or not. The insurance company should pay for anyone who is involved in the accident.
