Dope back and forth. Both shows were awesome, however MDF$ put themselves over the top with that ending. Lol. No lie that's the most exciting I've seen them in a while. But again, both shows were dope. I love all of the tricks, flash and funk CS presents.
Okay, in recent years Steel has displayed more of their chopping skills (which theyve always had) but it still aint good enough for some of yall. These guys are not going to conform to your ideals of percussion, its not their mission. They will continue to be mavericks and will garner much attention for doing so. I do wish they wouldve milked that quint solo more after the intro (it was hot). Because imo it was nsus quint passages that put them over the top in this battle. Other than that, this was a great head to head match up.
i feel like what hurt CS the most is tuning. they bigger basses so deep it overpower the high basses, so volume and balance ain't there still damn good beats though, these cats ain't playin
They wack...VERY high schoolish and gimmicky AT BEST. They not even in the same league as MDF$. All that EXTRA energy should've been used towards some actual MUSICIANSHIP and cadences instead of tumbling and tossing instruments trying to play to the crowd...#weaksaucetothemax
Here's my opinion and I'm fine if you dont like it: First, some of the elements of this performance have been recycled. They can be found in past videos. In other words "We've seen this before". People criticize the section for the acrobatics and rightfully so. It gets cheap applause. You can call it "entertainment" but come on. Not to mention Prairie View even stopped doing it and they started it. A lot of the material doesn't have much substance. Is it groovy/funky? Yes. Its is technically difficult? Not really. Don't get me wrong, there are flashes of chops so I know they have the skills but the overall package isn't that hard. The performances now are "What gimmick are they going to come up with?" Performing is a suit? Wheelie shoes? A trampoline? MD every year will come up with a new performance and just when you think "That's the best I've ever seen them" they raise the bar again. Every subsection in the line is technically sound and you can watch their performances over and focus on each subsection. I can ignore A&T's tenors, they are just dancing with a couple of strokes on the drum here and there. I'll watch/listen to the snare line primarily and a distant second to the multi-tenors. I'm done this is too long as it is. Until next year in Greensboro.
So it sounds like you only like DCI drumming. To be honest NSU quint piece reminds me of 08 NSU quint piece during the band brawl. PV has not stop the so called gimmicks have you seen their Honda show. I enjoyed both drum lines. I appreciated the different styles. If I want a clinic I know how to watch CS clinics better yet I’ll watch their warm ups. This is a performance.
@@itsvenises2520 no I dont only like DCI style. I'm just surprised that CS will leave all of the technical stuff at home when it comes to their performance. I've seen them play GOOD MATERIAL but then when it's time to roll, they sell out for "cheap house". PV may still do the gimmicks but I dont see that in a head to head with another section. Their multi-tenors are way better than what they play in performances. Why not show that? Hopefully they are not holding themselves back because the alumni will "get mad". If so, tell them old MFs to go march at Homecoming and they can play all of that mess they want.
NSUMDFS I think it is just based on where they are performing. This is not drum line competition it is just a band brawl. It was just two bands drum line performance. Now if they were facing each other and each team was taking turns..,then that is a different story. I am pretty sure if the setting was in Greensboro CS would have gotten house. I think they are mastering their style by keeping the tricks, movement, plus taking the chopping level up. The constant flipping of the sticks, moving around, smooth transitioning, and chopping is not easy at all. I’m pretty sure if cold steel hold still we will see more of their crazy chopping skills.
Very Entertaining and a great job. MD$F is just at a higher level. It's just different but great job and well put together.

Cold Steel takes it for showmanship. I like MDFS just a touch more musically.
Booing is so played! Good job Cold Steel!
KamauATL I agree. There are ignorant fans everywhere. Both sections put on a good show. SUPPORT ALL HBCU MARCHING BANDS.
Their energy, creativity and showmanship is on 10 per usual, and I'll always respect them for that.
this show would have received just as much hype as Norfolks if it was in NC
As a bongo snare I’ll always respect the fact that y’all kept numbers up.💯
Y’all a fuckin squad.🤌🏾💯
Would love to see Cookman do one of these with either school.. MDFS won this battle btw.. wasnt even close this yr
Both lines was fire this day!
They always doing flips and throwing drums.... 🤦🏾♀️
Love the entertainment cold steel!
Giving me very much high school feature
J & F crowds liked to be entertained though you can’t just stand still all day smh
They killed it🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i fw coldsteel heavy but they could be a lil arrogant sumtimes🤦🏾♂️much love fa y’all tho ✊🏾
Excellent show cold steel..🤗

Tubastein1 NSU quint saved the whole band.
Adrienne Smith ...reaching 🤣
To each his own...
Cold Steel feat A&t Gymnasts 🤸♂️ team
Melvin Brown lol
Cold steel has talent and very good players but all this dancing and no chopping they took an L. I know they can chop, but I wasn’t impressed
A&T Drumline is exciting and very entertaining, however in this battle their snare line played dirty.
No, they didn’t. All snares were playing simultaneously.
NSU tore you’all a new one.....😂
Naw they didn’t. I was there too.
Troy Strong how exactly? Seems like it was mdfs quints vs codsteel
Exactly, All a&t did was throw drums and do flips. Without all that what do they really have😂😂🤦🏾♀️
Troy Strong I think it was a pretty good battle with the dub going to MDFS. MDFS didn’t kill them though!
TJ and all mdfs did was run tonals and have their quints play for 4mins soo which one do you want to see...
They went to the PASIC 👀👀... last time I checked that was major key
ladarian whitted stay tuned ....
Look like a bunch of high lighters
Curtis Wilson now that ain’t right. Their sweats were kinda cool.
I like them but they so bright
What's the cadence at 5:05? It's one of my favorites from CS
I need the snares to have white sticks. The sticking should pop better.
i feel like what hurt CS the most is tuning. they bigger basses so deep it overpower the high basses, so volume and balance ain't there
still damn good beats though, these cats ain't playin
Who tf lost their shoe? 😂🤣
Deandre' Lee where ? 🤣
A King's Kid this is around 5:38
Deandre' Lee danced right out the shoe 🤣🤣
I’ve never seen a back flip incorporated
🔥 🤘🏾
Northfolk destroyed them. I just got to keep it real . Forget showmanship . I want the chops
COLD STEEL!!!
coldd
Haters stop whinning...
