Me too man. I loved him even more than Pee Wee. Ernest Saves Christmas is still the best Christmas film ever made along with The Ref and Ernest Goes To Jail was so very awesome.
So many people don't know that about him. I absolutely loved him and he was so good as Jed Clampett. I wish we had a chance to see him do more serious parts.
Hard to believe I dated him once upon a time. My older sister had classes with him at Lafayette high School. She was really struck on him. But I happened to meet him one night when he came to the restaurant Frisch's to pick up his friend. And so we dated quite a lot. I learned that he liked dramatic acting like Shakespeare. He told me one day he was going to make it big and of course he did. The last time I heard from him he wanted me to come to Hollywood with him. I told him I would have to think about it. When I got off the phone and told my mother her reply was if I did that she would disown me. I guess she was afraid I would end up getting hurt. So I didn't go and that was the end of that relationship. I was just 17 years old.
Nah, the 80s was just his dacade and it stuck lol. All joking aside, he was just an artist and had the eccentricities of an artist. Plus, with his redneck heritage, he liked shiny things.
Ernest was my childhood friend. I owe him dearly for that

A lot of people never took him seriously because of the Ernest character but he was a Shakespearian trained actor
It's just like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey.

SUCH AN EXCELLENT ACTOR WHO DIDNT GET THE RESPECT HE DESERVED THERE WAS MORE TO HIM THAN JUST ERNEST
This man is a treasure and he is truly missed.
