Aside from the strict rules on interacting with worldly things, their theology seems very close to Restorationist / Church of Christ. A quick peck on the cheek of the same sex used to indicate Christian fellowship. It’s practiced only within their own churches, not friends or other kinds of Christians. Five separate times in the epistles Christians are expressly told to “greet one another with a Holy Kiss.” You can probably argue that is is not NECESSARY to literally kiss one-another, but I don’t see how you could condemn the practice if a community decides to literally do what they were instructed to do. By American standards! In other cultures, they have different ideas regarding masculine or feminine colors having nothing to do with the practice of any religion. In Korean culture, for example, pastel colors are for young boys, bright, vibrant colors are for girls. I learned that one from experience while teaching Kindergarten in a Korean neighborhood of NYC. A pastel pink sweater without name tag was left on a hook in the coat room. When it was still there after a week, I held it and asked the girls whose it was. Nobody claimed it. It hung there for another week unclaimed until parent-teacher conferences. So I displayed it on a table for parents to see when they came in. Sure enough, one Mom said, “So here’s GiSu’s sweater! I was was wondering where it got to.” GiSu was a boy, who didn’t care or recognize his own clothing. Had it been bright pink, it would have been for a girl. I’m in the process of joining a similarly conservative Mennonite church. Start by attending church services. Folks will typically make a more concerted effort than any church you’ve attended to get to know you. Many will invite you into their homes and even feed you. As time progresses there will be opportunities organically get to know the beliefs through conversation with the brothers and sisters as well as ministry. If and when you are convicted that the church’s application of biblical principles are the way you wish to walk your Christian life talk to the ministry. They will over a period of time evaluate your conviction in your beliefs over time. This may take the form of a formal instruction period similar to what catechumen undergo in the Orthodox and Catholic Church. Some churches do this more informally. Once you complete that membership will be extended. If you are a new Christian baptism occurs following procession of faith and then membership is extended. If you are baptized in another faith, depending on the church, rebaptism will be required. Infant baptisms are almost always rejected by Mennonite churches as was the practice historically of anabaptists. Pilgrim’s website has a great church finder. You’ll find that there’s a wide variety of Mennonite churches with great variance on application of Biblical principles. The key for Mennonites is that faith without works is dead. And works brought about by faith must be applied in obedience to God’s word in every aspect of life, including what the world considers the minutia. To what degree folks wish to self-regulate through voluntary association that is church by church, congregation by congregation.

Aside from the strict rules on interacting with worldly things, their theology seems very close to Restorationist / Church of Christ. Their description of the function of Baptism is different (an act of obedience, rather than necessary for salvation), but they reject faith alone and hold to "faith without works is dead". Also the rejection of once saved, always saved. Interesting to see a different tradition arrive at a very similar set of beliefs.
The ones in Belize I ran across seemed pretty chill. But there are a few different groups there...
Reverend Jesse Duplantis: Heaven doesn't have anything like that that this world takes and has that distracts the minds of people from being away from having God on the mind 24-7
When did they become Dispensationalist?
8:03 That's not the calvinist view of predestination. Calvinists don't believe that people will go to heaven or hell regardless of their beliefs.
So actual question, what do they do for fun?
Serious answer: volleyball and singing together. 4-part harmony is a learned activity among many conservative anabaptist groups and their youth get togethers tend to be about singing. And volleyball.
Likely sex for married couples, of course. 😉 It would be interesting to see recent demographics.
Ha nice ok
I never knew there were Dispensationalist Anabaptists before.
Jesus: A Mennonite heaven!' says Jesus.
What is this 'holy kiss'??
A charitable greeting.
A quick peck on the cheek of the same sex used to indicate Christian fellowship. It’s practiced only within their own churches, not friends or other kinds of Christians. There is nothing sexual about it. It was originally a cultural greeting from the Swiss cantons of the 15th through 19th centuries.
@@mariekatherine5238 I don't think it originated only in Switzerland. Other, older cultures also had similar practices of non-sexual kiss greetings.
That passage actually says the opposite of what they are thinking. Think, we did all of these wonderful works in your name, and for you. Then Christ says depart from me for I never knew you! Think!! The ones he rejected are those who through their works thought they knew him, but didn't have saving faith. Understand?🙏
Or maybe they know Christ well enough to discern what worldly things draw them away from Him, and therefore chose to abstain from them. If someone spends all their time indulging in worldly pleasures, but on a Sunday morning in their Pentecostal church would “cast out demons” and perform miracles, that person is more in line with the one whom Christ condemns.

Five separate times in the epistles Christians are expressly told to “greet one another with a Holy Kiss.” You can probably argue that is is not NECESSARY to literally kiss one-another, but I don’t see how you could condemn the practice if a community decides to literally do what they were instructed to do. You seem to imply that greeting each other with a kiss is perverse in some way. Feminine colors.
Hellfire
Hell fire is NOT eternal or everlasting, the punishment for sin is an eternal punishment meaning the fire God uses to destroy the wicked will consume them but stop once they turned to ashes.
Jude 1:7
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
There is no burning fire at Sodom and Gomorrha today, these cities have suffered an ETERNAL PUNISHMENT i.e they have been destroyed/razed to the ground.
Genesis 19:24-25 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire FROM the LORD OUT OF HEAVEN
The consistent theme is God uses His Fire to destroy the wicked who will be burned up; TOTAL DESTRUCTION
Malachi 4:1
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Yeah, I don't think the Mennonites making those rules have listened to that much country music if they think it's a "healthy music option" in comparison to other genres. In order to have everlasting life you absolutely must trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation 💖.
Saving repentance is actually turning from unbelief to belief.
You either believe that Jesus paid your sin debt in full or you don't.
For those who are looking for Scriptural evidence of this, 1 John 5 states this truth clearly.
The word “alone” is not in scripture in reference to faith and Scripture.

How do I join these folks?
They don’t believe God intends everyone to become like them. After all, they do use doctors, computers, different technologies that they cannot produce for themselves.
You can join, but it isn’t easy. You’d have to prove yourself after a long period of living the life, studying the Bible and religious doctrines before they’d baptize you. It’s rare, but has been done quite successfully.
