    Looks like another great product to buy!
    But isn't that why we purchased composite decking in the first place as to "not have to" stain our decks again! 🤪

      You can always go expensive with AriDeck aluminum decking. It is considered a lifetime product and I have installed it on my old ranch house. Kind of rare in the west I think it is made in a southern state.

      I have composite deck and live by the water and yes the color fades. So undortuently even then it’s necessary. I just hope this is a good product and doesn’t look like a paint brush kinda job.

    Ok yes!!!! This transformed my deck!! My deck was like a faded out redwood color.. I bought the Brown composite color and it made the deck look completely new! I bought brown hoping it would change the color from red and it did!! Make sure you mix the stain though!! I made a mistake by just shaking the can thinking it’d mix but you need to stir it with a stir stick!!!! I would 💯 recommend this!!

    This stuff transformed my faded redwood Trex deck. The thing was weathered and not very well maintained at ALL, and now it looks phenomenal. Highly recommend. And like he says, it's not a coating. It's a stain that gets absorbed by the boards. Probably need to reapply every couple years or so.

      I have been researching this days, I should have come to Y/T to begin with. I am very encourage to read your comment. My deck gets super dirty because of maple leaves covering it in fall when It always rains at the same time not giving us a chance t remove them. The result is a horribly dark stained deck; taking my son 3 days to clean it. The deck 1s 50'x15' + 12 steps all with a white railing. I am hoping this treatment will help and also, this fall I am going to put down a plastic drop cloth on the deck. Thanks for sharing you experience!

    I have a timber tech redwood color, with some darker grain highlights, about 20 years old. It has a white haze from the sun. But looks great when it's wet. By using a red wood tone refresher, will it cover the wood grain highlights? I really don't want to completely cover the deck like a solid stain. I want a transparent type of sealer that brings back the original look. If that's even possible.

    I made the mistake of pressure washing my Trex deck then not doing anything else after because I believed the myth. By February the following year, not even six months later, my deck was green from mold and mildew. Definitely going this route with whatever brand the Lowe’s has here.

    • @griefonenyc

      Do the railings first. The stuff is super thin so it will drip onto the deck boards. I used a brush and a flat stain pad.

    My composite decking is 14 years old. In the baking sun, the surface is more rough now (and from years of pressure washing). Will this colorant also fill in that roughness a little too?

    • @griefonenyc
      @griefonenyc 2 года назад +1

      It is a very thin product, so it will not smooth out the pitting. It will restore some of the water resistance, and add a bit of lustre back to the surface.

      @@griefonenyc Thank you! I painted it on my deck this summer and I am very pleased with the results. I found it interesting that when it rains, it beads up like on a waxed car. The color was an improvement after years of sun and bleaching out. I'm happy with it.

    How do you remove white-stain on the composite deck caused by Zippo lighter fuel spill?
    We tried brushing the stain using dish soap and medium brush. It made the white-stain spots less white but now it's kind of more spreaded out or blended white.

      Mine is 20 years old. I live in the Great Lakes region. This was uncapped, early Trex. I did the entire deck, which is a really nice deck, for $10k. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of power washing it. However, it still looks better than my neighbor’s deck, which has been stained every couple of years. I just installed capped composite on my cottage and wish I had done so a decade ago. The bigger problem with my original deck is that the framing materials suck. My Trex will likely outlive the treated lumber underneath. They don’t make treated lumber that really lasts anymore.
