It is always best to go onto the website of the manufacturer’s website and look at their cleaning and maintenance recommendations. With that said, what you describe can be removed with degreasers and they are okay for use on capped composites. Rule of thumb is to NOT use anything in a metal can.
Great video. I bought a home with a deck installed 2004 of choice deck plus. Can't see the edge of it, so not sure what kind of composite it is and what to use to clean it. Any help appreciated.
Corte Clean Composite Deck Cleaner works best for removing the tannin's, which feed molds, from the white oak fiber from which ChoiceDek Plus was made while cleaning the dirty recycled PE plastic.
Need advice and help. I have an original Trex Deck. I think my contractor made a big mistake in installing the deck. The Trex product covers the deck, steps and pillars. He used regular nails which now have rusted. We have power washed and even repainted the deck, but because we live close to the beach, the nails are still rusting and leaving rust stains. With what can we cover the rusted stains before we re-stain the deck, prevent the rusting and restore its freshness?
Once you have cleaned the deck you should apply oxalic acid, also referred to as “wood bleach” because it brightens wood. On the old style of uncapped Trex it helps remove some of the black spots from the tannin bleed coming from the wood content. The reason many people use this acid as their wood brightener is because it has other characteristics, one being that it helps remove iron and metals stains as well as act as a mild rust remover. If the staining has been there awhile it may not remove the stain entirely but it should make it much better.
Hi. Can you please advise if there is a way to safely remove the sealer on wpc? The gloss sealer became flaky and whitish. I wanna know if there is an option to remove the sealer without damaging the surface. Thanks.
We have decking without the cover on it. It's at least 10 years old. When to the manufacturers website for cleaning instructions - 50/50 vinegar/water solution. scrub and let it soak 5 minutes. I did it several times on a 3' x 3' section of the deck. It doesn't look new, but it's obvious it helped and that I have have to scrub the rest of the deck too.
What if you don't known the composite deck manufactures how would you pick out a cleaner for your deck. It look like I have older type deck it similar but I have wood looking grain on top.
I have a serous question I really need an answer how do you remove the white deposit from a stock tank pool that leaves like a white stain that it leaves possibly from the metals of the pool or the water minerals...please answer asap thank you ❤❤❤😊
hello, New composite decking was installed before I moved into my condo. I want to clean and remove mildew from the decking. I do not know who the mfg is, to read their cleaning recommendations. I don't want to cause any damage. Can you recommend what I can use? Thanks
In this case Oxyclean is always an acceptable option. If you would like you can also send a picture to info@deckrestorationplus.com and we can take a closer look. Either way, good luck cleaning and rejuvenating that deck!
If it was painted or stained with a solid stain then it was most likely to slightly extend the life of the deck and it looks terrible underneath. Unfortunately, it is more likely that it is time to replace the deck. Stained decks are older generations of composites that are long past their warranties and usually past their life span. Lime anything, some lady a little longer than others.
Thanks for the reply. The story goes the “little” kids got into some unattended paint. Definitely regular old paint. I just don’t want to ruin the boards when trying to remove it. I see Krud Kutter makes a paint remover, can I use that?
I have a composite deck Veranda/Fiberon with a polyethylene coating. I have overspray of Specticide insect spray. White spots wont come off with soap, vinegar, baking soda. Any suggestions that will remove white stains from insect spray that wont harm the deck?
In all likelihood the white spots are where the color was removed and replacement is the only correction, other than living with it. Always ask the manufacturer, in this case Fiberon, what they would suggest. This way they are in the loop and can’t say it was something you did. Then if what they suggest doesn’t work, probably won’t, you can take the next step you need.
I have to disagree with “ pressure doesn’t clean”. I pressure wash concrete till it’s new! Just kidding 😂 I can tell you know what you’re talking about Everett. Thanks for checking out the video. You can do some inventive stuff with this material. Cutting angles, heating, and bending to make bars, seats, and even no seam steps. Definitely cuts better than it planes.
What if the customer doesn't know what produce they have? Is there a way to know by looking at the material to know what brand manufacturer and model it is by looking at it?

I tried vinegar but it did not take out the spots. Maybe I didn’t scrub hard enough or I need something stronger? Thank you for your help !
Buy an RV hose hard water filter to remove the hard water however your Trex decking is likely "weathering" bleaching/fading by exposure to the sun as disclosed in their literature.
I just installed the Trex with the scalloped bottom, Beach Dunes color. I have a lot of red clay that got on the boards during install due to jobsite and rain. I washed it off with the hose but there is still staining or spotting from the clay. Do I need to wash the boards ASAP? Will clay permanently stain Trex? What do you recommend cleaning it with? Thanks!
Red Clay is removed with an acid type of product. NMD 80 and F9 Efflo are two popular products to use. Check with Trex on using these products prior so that you do nothing to void your 25 year guarantee.
Thank you! I haven’t even tried with scrub brush and dish soap yet. I was just wondering if letting it sit over the weekend would cause any problems but from what Trex states in their video about clean, it pretty much withstands most any type of dirt tracked on it.
@@michaelreed5135, if it is red clay then it can be very difficult to remove. I have seen professional companies struggle with it.
