  • A hopefully not too boring and somewhat informative video on these systems. I talk about several features, managing the systems, and overall things I wish someone had explained to me.
Disclaimer: I am not a CFI (yet) and this is not intended to be instructional in nature, merely informative.

A quick tip for VNAV descents. If you type in altitude first, the system gives you the option of choosing AGL instead of MSL. Punch in 1000 AGL then it just does the math for you to get to pattern. I found out if you go to insert along track first the AGL button is no longer there. Great video! It’s been helpful!

GREAT video! Thank you for all 3 that I watched. This one and the ending approach and landing and then the 360 camera. I have a 1977 210M and hoping to upgrade the panel and this was exactly what I was planning to do. I have the Garmin 430W, audio panel and transponder and G5 backup attitude indicator. I'm hoping to do it incrementally. I was going to start by adding the 650Xi and remove the old Narco com/nav, Cessna 400 DME and ADF. Then replace the 400b autopilot with the 500. Lastly put in the new panel with G3X w/EIS. So I was thrilled to find this video as you have the end-game setup I want. I appreciate your work editing and uploading.

Do yourself a favor, do evrything in one go, far easier to not worry about interoperability with AP, avionics for every step in between and opening the cockpit like 5 times with 5 times the paperwork :) have fun

    I am updating my T210L (N732EL) with a similar setup. 2x G5, 2x G3X Touch, 750Xi (was going to be a 650Xi), 430w, 500 AP, with a 350C Audio Panel
In particular, my questions surround having two GPS/Nav Radios (650Xi Navigator with a 430w).
    Are you able to:
    1) Flightplan from the Tablet uploads to G3X Touch, 650Xi, and 430w?
    2) Can you setup different approaches in the 650Xi and the 430w? (say a ILS on one and a RNav or set for parallel runways)
    3) Which does the A/P fly?
    4) If you turn off the 650Xi, does the system switch to the 430w navigation?
    5) Can you set the G5 CDI to show the 430w and the G3X Touch to show the 650Xi?
This might be the basis of another video.
BTW, I don't see your Audio Panel
I Fly out of Georgetown Texas (KGTU) though the plane is in North Houston for gear issues right now. I hope to run into you sometime.

That will be a very nice panel! Our systems may differ slightly but I will do my best to answer your questions.
      1) My flight plan does upload to the G3X from ForeFlight on my iPad and flows to the 650 and then to the 430.
      2) Yes you could set up separate approaches. I would first load the approach in the 650 (which will flow to the 430) and then load the second approach in the 430 (which will NOT flow up to the 650).
      3) The autopilot will follow the nav source that is selected on the G3X. You can swap between nav 1 and 2 by tapping on the HSI on the G3X and selecting the source.
      4) The system should revert to nav 2 if it fails to receive data on nav 1, however I have not explicitly tested this.
      5) In normal operation the G5 is the standby instrument so it mirrors what the primary instrument (G3X) does. So the CDI it shows is the same nav source as the G3X is using. The only setting I am aware of is Baro Sync where the altimeter setting changed on one will show on the other. I don’t know of a way to de-couple the nav sources to behave like you’re describing. It would be useful though if possible.
My audio panel is remote so all the controls are in the G3X.

Is this a Mooney F or a J? your CHT is above 400F at outside Temp 47F. I thought its recommended to keep the CHT below 380F for the better health.

You are correct, it was running warm. This was shortly after the annual where a SureFly ignition was installed. The timing had been set improperly which caused it to run warm.
