The charm of the old, original Gameboy. The graphics, the sound... just off the chart. Memories, so many memories. Good ones from a much simpler time of being a child.

I got Operation C off this sketchy guy at school for $2. The name that was wrote on the cartridge in marker wasn't his so I figure he stole it from someone [sorry Matt].
I felt bad for whoever he stole it from but I wasn't mad at the fact that I got a sweet game for $2. This was the first shooter game I ever played and my young mind viewed it as something very cool.

Up to today, I somehow enjoy the experience on those "on the go" consoles, such as the Gameboy (be it Original, Color or any kind of Advance), or DS.. may be due to me having fond memories of playing those on long road trips, or playing Pokemon first with my cousin (red + blue version)... I loved that time!
When I want deeper gameplay I chose home consoles, yet then I most certainly sit down for at least 1 hour! With a handheld you can flick the power on for some 5 to 10 minutes and have great fun with it.
Great video, thanks for sharing your opinion!

Stellar list Billy! A lot of these games are still some of my top tens to this day. Shocked BATMAN , GODZILLA, or GREMLINS 2 was not on here but what really shocked that instead of Tetris you put KWIRK!
KWIRK is one of my favorite puzzle games and is definitely a hidden gem on the Gameboy. No FALL OF THE FOOT CLAN? What are your thoughts on that one? ALIEN WARS vs. OPERATION C? Your top two I whole heartedly agree. I think LINK'S AWAKENING is a lot better that what others say whether its the normal or DX version. And I love its story. Great list Billy!

The awesome thing about Super Mario Land is that it was basically made by Gunpei Yokoi who as you may know was the guy behind the game and watch games as well as the freaking Game boy itself (*cough* D-PAD cough*). In a way its Miyamoto handing the reigns of his beloved franchise to a colleague he trusted and respected enough to create an installment. Gunpei really gave it his own flair and made it such a "Gameboy" game too. I loved this game and played it lots as a kid and I still enjoy it immensely. I like to imagine that the protagonist is actually Luigi taking advantage of the limited color scheme, lol. He technically is green isn't he? Oh, and he's a bit slidey too isnt he, especially when he's jumping. Two things that have become traits of Luigi. Slidey-ness, lol, and higher jumping. Hmmmm. This feels like some kind of... theory.. hmm.
On a side note, I got mad stuck in Link's Awakening as well but I knew this older geeky dude that worked at a local arcade who would feed me tips here and there and really helped me progress. Once I completed the game he gave me a hand written guide on how to find all the seashells. It was epic and he was awesome. Great video and great channel btw!

I hear Final Fantasy Adventure music in the beginning yet no game...shame, shame, shame! Seriously though you mentioned two of my very favorite games Link's Awakening which I remember getting as a gift for Easter one year as a kid & beating it, bu you're right the puzzles are super hard! Also Solar Striker is an awesome shooter that never gets enough attention, the game is brutally hard past level 4 but so fun! I've played this more times than I can count & is still one of my favorite games of all time, just because of the fun replay factor, & the awesome music.

Links Awakening-first game I ever owned. I remember going to a toys r us that was like 2 hrs away to play it. I lived in a group home, and one year, they said we could get a gameboy, but the one with no game. So, I asked for that, and then asked my mom to get me Link's Awakening. I was 1 of 2 kids thst actually had a game to play, tge other kid got Faceball 2000.
To round out my list, I liked Super Mario Land 3: Warioland, Mario Picross, Tetris and Metroid 2: The Return of Samus.
That's my top 5, and yes, this list is nostalgia driven. Each game I got was because my mom bought it for me when I knew she didn't have money to throw around.
Addendum/bonus would be Megaman 4, the last GB game my mom got me...I also like it cause when you completely die 4 times and continue, on the 5th replay, the game is like, "ok, you suck hard, we'll give you a super buster that kills almost everything in 2 hits", or as Capcom/Dr Light called it, an 'enhancement' for the Mega Buster. That, and I thought it was cool they recycled bosses from the NES.
