Interesting! My recommendations: Amazing Penguin - An action game which takes place on a grid in which the player, who takes control of a penguin, must walk across the lines collecting dots and circles with minus symbols on them. If all lines around a square are cleared, it gets filled out and all enemies which happen to stand on one of the lines are killed (but respawn shortly after). Battle Bull - An action game that primarily consists of navigating a maze and pushing movable blocks into other robots in order to crush them. The player earns points and money for destroying enemy robots in a timely fashion. Between rounds money can be used to purchase upgrades to your robot to increase its maneuverability, add weapons, or provide extra lives. Cosmo Tank - A shoot-'em-up which takes place across a handful of worlds where the player moves around in a top-down view and defeats the local wildlife in search of dungeons. Once inside, view switches to first-person and the player must explore the mazelike tunnels square by square, manually aiming a cannon used to dispatch monsters as they are encountered and circle around the tank. When outside a dungeon, the player can opt to fly to a different world; when doing this, the Cosmo Tank transforms into a starfighter and the player must navigate a short vertical shooting stage to make it to the next world. Dexterity - A puzzle game in which the goal is to flip over all of the tiles on the field while avoiding enemies, which can also flip the tiles. Enemies that are on tiles that have been flipped over become immobilized and can be thrown at other enemies. They can also be pushed into the walls using blocks, which contains items. Fighting Simulator: 2-in-1 Flying Warriors - An action game which features side scrolling portions where the player can use kung fu and mystic spells to dispose of enemies. Each enemy the player defeats gives them experience points which will eventually increase their life points. There are also some one on one duels during fighting tournaments that involve hitting a target on the opponents body while defending the target on the player's own body. Ghostbusters II - An action game in which the objective of each level is to capture a predefined number of ghosts before the timer expires. The first ghostbuster selected is controlled by the player directly and carries a proton pack, while the second ghostbuster follows the first and carries a ghost trap. While exploring the levels, any of the two remaining ghostbusters (as well as the ghostbusters' accountant) not currently being used will occasionally show up, and touching them will provide power-ups, including vacuum guns, instant traps, and invulnerability. Go! Go! Tank - An action game in which the player must guide a tank to the end of each stage by arranging boxes with a hook attached to the bottom of the player's plane, as well as by shooting enemy planes that threaten it. The tank will roll forward on its own and climb up any wall that is only a single block high -- anything taller and it will crash into it and turn around while taking damage. Great Greed - A role-playing game in which the battle system does not use any menus, switching all commands to simple button pushes. A being attack, B for dodge, Start will run and the D-Pad is shortcuts to certain spells. The combat is also live, in the sense that if you take too long to complete your turn, your opponent will attack again. Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues - A platformer in which the goal in each level is to collect a number of magnetic ID cards which open up the level exit. Many different species of dinosaur stand in the player's way: walking, flying and even the swimming kind. For defense, the player has access to a gun and hand grenades, both with unlimited ammunition, as well as a harpoon when going for a swim. Lock 'n' Chase - An action game in which the player plays a thief who has to collect gold coins and avoid the police officers. Each bank is a different maze containing numerous doors which can be used to block the police. Occasionally a bonus item will appear in the maze, such as a cash bag that temporary stuns all police officers, and a diamond which makes the player temporary invincible. Mr. Nutz - A platformer in which he player plays as a squirrel who must defeat the evil Yeti before he freezes the entire world. This will have the player explore many areas such as a forest, a witch's cottage, a volcano, the clouds, and a circus. The game features the ability to kill enemies either by jumping on them or using the player's tail, as well as some puzzles involving object manipulation. Ninja Boy 2 - A role-playing game in which the player controls a young Kung-Fu hero and use the hero's punch and kick abilities to defeat enemies. Players can also find weapons and other items scattered across the game to use against the enemy hordes. After defeating a set number of enemies, the player is allowed to run into an exit and proceed to the next level. Ninja Taro - An action-adventure game in which players need to explore the world map, do quests for the people who live in the towns, and hunt inside caves to destroy major enemies. Players can either use samurai swords or shurikens; shurikens have a shorter range and are weaker than swords. However, both swords and shurikens can be powered up by the treasure chests located throughout the game. Panel Action Bingo - A board game in which the goal is to compete with a cat to navigate and claim squares on a Bingo card, with either numbers or letters pseudorandomly arranged in 1 to 25 or A to Z, respectively. The squares are claimed by moving to the next square of numerical/alphabetical order and pressing the A button, and while the card is shared by both the cat and bird, the cat and bird cannot occupy the same square. Rolan's Curse 2 - A role-playing game in which the player starts out with one character, but can later join forces with up to seven more characters, which each have a unique skill. Only three of the seven characters can join the party at once, thus some characters must be left behind. Character stats are not raised by defeating enemies, but rather by finding treasure chests that contain power-up points. Snow Brothers - A platformer where the player must defeat all enemies on each level by using snow. When lots of snow is thrown at an enemy, it becomes covered in a flurry and unable to move, and can be rolled into giant snowballs and pushed or kicked into other enemies. The enemy filled snowballs are a much stronger weapon then the regular handful of snow and are the only effective weapon the player has against the bosses. Solomon's Club - A puzzle game in which the player must retrieve keys in order to open up the exit. The player can create or remove blocks to their left and right, and can use these blocks as platforms to climb onto, as well as for blocking enemies or fire balls. Coins collected can be used to buy items such as fire balls or hammers. Tail 'Gator - A platformer in which the player navigates small rooms to find treasure chests with keys in them so that Charly the alligator can progress through each area. Each room, filled with quickly respawning enemies and tricky landscapes, is about 2-3 screens wide and is one of about half a dozen that compromise each of the five areas. Tetris Blast - A puzzle game in which lines of blocks contain bombs. The more the player links the bombs when creating lines of blocks, the more of the field that's cleared as the bombs explode. Word Zap - A puzzle game in which the player must align letters in order to make proper English words. The player can choose between 3, 4, or 5 letter words, allow or disallow plural forms of words, and even choose the level of vocabulary used in the game. "WordHai" mode permits the player to create words from a preset number of tiles.
Lot of good stuff but you forgot Miyamoto's hidden gem : Mole mania. I discovered this game recently and what a beauty, so original and creative. Loved it so much I took the complet Japanese box
What's funny is the Wikipedia article for this game says "(Pronounced 'quicks')", then right over on the box art (in the same article) it says "Pronounced kicks"...right on the box art.
To me, Quarth is a fun alternative to Tetris, and it's actually an adaptative port of an arcade name where it was known worldwide as Block Hole (Quarth is actually the original Japanese name) which Konami made in 1989.
I clicked on this video expecting/hoping Trip World to be mentioned, haha! I'm glad you did, but I also didn't expect to hear a bunch of games I'd never even heard of before! I definitely want to check out Banishing Racer and Avenging Spirit, they sound like my kinda games.
@@SecondOpinionGames1 I'm both surprised and not surprised by all these interesting Japan-only titles. I also would like to look into UK/Europe-only ones at some point. Have you tried "Obelix" (really Asterix & Obelix, but they couldn't fit in the title) for the Game Boy Color? It's a surprisingly difficult side-scroller based off a French comic. Even if the gameplay isn't for you the OST is great (check out Alberto Gonzales).
Here are some of my recommendations. 1. Ninja turtles radical rescue - a nice metroidvania game with a hard boss rush at the end. 2. Gradius interstellar assault - a forgiving gradius game that doesn't make you start at the beginning of the game from a game over. 3. Joe and mac - a short and difficult platformer that is charming and fun. 4. Jurassic park 2 - a great run and gun platformer with some cool boss fights 5. Megaman 5 - a great and original megaman game.

I have a multi-game cart for the NES and it has a game very similar to Quarth on it but I don’t know the official name to it because on the menu screen it just says Tetris with a number and when you go into the game the title screen is in Japanese so I don’t know the official name of it and the music is similar as well
I have a question about the number 4 game Crane, is that the real name of the game? Cuz I can't find anything on it. Can you tell me the real name of the game please
The best Yu Yu Hakusho game? I kinda disagree with you, at least personally I prefer Tokubetsu-hen, the "cinematic fighter" (I don't know how to label that game honestly 😅)for the Super Famicom, when you know how to play that game it isn't half bad, specially if you play it with someone who is also a fan of the series
Gameboy games in general are underrated. Nice to see love for these games. "Avenging Spirit" is good. I got "QIX" recently, (via 3DS Eshop) and I love it. (Though, it's official pronunciation is "Kicks," not "Quicks.")
The Avenging Spirit cart is well over a C-note loose. That is NOT worth every penny. Get it digitally. There's no reason to pay that much for a Game Boy game
I had an Atari Lynx at the time so... GAMEBOY WAS FOR BABIES!!! But in all seriousness, I've never been a big fan of platformers so that kills most of this list for me. Being an enthusiast of blowing $#*% up, I must say that Contra game looks amazing for the Gameboy.
That is truly a disaster. Are you getting a new one? I can't help but notice, that for a You-Tuber who operates under the radar, you seem to have a near limitless access to consoles and rare games.
"Cute little boy called shin-chan" shin-chan is actually a women obsessed toddler that likes to view erotica magazines. The reason why you have never heard of shin-chan was that the kids show was waaay to sexual for the United States.
For anyone looking for the roms proper names, Vanishing Racer is actually Banishing Racer, and Crane is Crayon Shin-chan
Thanks for that 😃🙏
I don't consider 1989 to be the "Mid-80's"
🤣🤣🤣 I thought the exact same thing! Was going to point it out until I read your message.
I would consider 1984 to 1986 the mid 80s.
The mid-80's began in 1964 and ended in 1999.
You should put the names of the games on this list in the description (along with time markers). Great list, thanks for sharing! :)

I have a multi-game cart for the NES and it has a game very similar to Quarth on it but I don’t know the official name to it because on the menu screen it just says Tetris with a number and when you go into the game the title screen is in Japanese so I don’t know the official name of it and the music is similar as well
😎
amazing list! :D i never tried that shin chan or spuds adventure
What was the shin chan game called?
I need to check out some of these!
Yea!! I thought long and hard on this list. All of these games are great. I like having the real thing but some are pricey so you can get a repro :)
good list glad i didnt see the say "top ten hidden gems" id see in any other video
Yeah i suck at the tags but my videos are good. Or at least ok 😊
@@SecondOpinionGames1 your video was perfect the way it was subbed because of it ❤
I have a question about the number 4 game Crane, is that the real name of the game? Cuz I can't find anything on it. Can you tell me the real name of the game please
Sinshun. Something like that.
Was so syked up until I realized spuds adventure is like $800
Yeah that’s a hard no at that price.
What is game number 4 called? Can’t decipher what he said at all 😅
Sin-Chan I think that is how to spell it 😃
Subscribed right after “why not give QUARTH! a chance” lmao 👍🏼
Its crazy how much great games there were on the original gameboy. But on the gameboy color there was not that many good games.
Yeah I noticed that as well. The GBC really should have been better 😃
I can't hear the title for the game after banishing Racer. Krel or krem?
Cin shan . i think im spelling it wrong
@@SecondOpinionGames1 oh I was way off
Where is Yuyu 3?
The best action rpg to game boy...
The best game of yuyu hackusho séries...
I will have to look into that ☺️
@@SecondOpinionGames1 you wont regret it
The best Yu Yu Hakusho game? I kinda disagree with you, at least personally I prefer Tokubetsu-hen, the "cinematic fighter" (I don't know how to label that game honestly 😅)for the Super Famicom, when you know how to play that game it isn't half bad, specially if you play it with someone who is also a fan of the series
Gameboy games in general are underrated. Nice to see love for these games. "Avenging Spirit" is good. I got "QIX" recently, (via 3DS Eshop) and I love it. (Though, it's official pronunciation is "Kicks," not "Quicks.")
Thanks q=k that's not right 🤤
The Avenging Spirit cart is well over a C-note loose. That is NOT worth every penny. Get it digitally. There's no reason to pay that much for a Game Boy game
That seems fair 😃
I had an Atari Lynx at the time so... GAMEBOY WAS FOR BABIES!!! But in all seriousness, I've never been a big fan of platformers so that kills most of this list for me. Being an enthusiast of blowing $#*% up, I must say that Contra game looks amazing for the Gameboy.
Joel Ressler I tried to mod my lynx it do captures. Melted it 🙁
That is truly a disaster. Are you getting a new one? I can't help but notice, that for a You-Tuber who operates under the radar, you seem to have a near limitless access to consoles and rare games.
I owned Operation C and yes it was bad ass.
This aspect ratio is a crime against humanity
Sorry I know 😃
Trip World sort of reminds me of Kirby for some reason
Me to i was thinking the same thing 😃
I just got spud’s adventure game without case for 100, i’m gonna keep it for long
At least play through it 😃
@@SecondOpinionGames1 yeah sure, and but i love it since is one of the unique games in gb and also his music has a lot of personality
@@SecondOpinionGames1 and why would u say it is the most expensive game in gb?
The ones here that I looked up should be called "rare and extremely expensive unless bootleg."
Bootlegs are ok if it is for personal use 🧐
@@SecondOpinionGames1 haha
I know a hidden gem in the game boy library. It's called *Tetris Plus*
I like that one too 😃
@@SecondOpinionGames1 nice
Mid 80s? You know the Gameboy came out in like 89 right?
*left*
How do you spell game #5 so I can buy it?
Sorry I’m not good at spelling
great games but I have no clue how to write Japanese car name
Those last 3 were not hidden gems, but the others were good suggestions
I didn't know about them at the time. Its hard to make a list when you know the systems games so well.
What’s the 4th one? Can’t make it out
Sinshon. I think that's how you spell it ☺️
Second Opinion Games thanks I found it! Shinchan!
the reason why modren games suck is because companies are more focus on console hardware to were they dont focus on games
Right on 🙏
Review sounds good, I want to watch, but the stretched aspect ratio is too distracti. Subscribed but please don't stretch in the future.
I fixed that in my videos now 😃
@@SecondOpinionGames1 nice! Good list btw
"Mid 80's" Bitch, this was released in 1989
No cosmotank?
I’ll look into it 😃 thanks
Great vid
Thanks I was proud of this one 😃
Good games but see LOCK'N CHASE
Even better than Mr. Potatohead?
What's the name of game 5? I can't make it out.
Its in the comments sorry I'm at work cant look it up :)
Why stretch the aspect ratio?
Sorry im much better now 😊
*Yes 4:3 next time sir*
Open sinshun in my heart?
can you share the Japanese names?
"Cute little boy called shin-chan" shin-chan is actually a women obsessed toddler that likes to view erotica magazines.
The reason why you have never heard of shin-chan was that the kids show was waaay to sexual for the United States.
We miss out 🙁
Trip world on UK 3DS VC.
Yoda Stories.
That’s a 💎 😃
Bubble Ghost!
Thanks I don't know that one. I'll check it out 😀
For the frog the bell tolls.
"*And*... it has an incredibly stupid name..." XD
didnt know one of them..
Nice. Then i did my job 😃
*Not even Contra man?!?*
So, 1989 is the mid-80' now?
Qix has no "u" in it, so it's pronounced "kicks".
Sure now 🤔
Mid 80s? Weird
It gets lots of people to comment and that helps the video 😃
A contra game is a "hidden gem?" Right...
It's good to put something everyone know as a reference point and it helps on the RUclips search algorithm ☺️
*Left*
Quarth is stereo AF.
That’s cool 😎
Which handheld dominated the market in the mid 80s? Certainly not the Game Boy which came out as late as in 1989.
Arti Atari Ok late 80s
