  • 👩🏻‍⚕️The Travel Nursing market can be labile and confusing. But Victoria has 10 Travel Nursing Tips (plus a bonus!) that can help you snag your next assignment!
    Plus, stick around till the end to see the great times we’ve been having on “fun-employment” in North Carolina with family and friends.
    Travel Nurse Tips:
    1. Sign on with several companies to give you more options
    2. Be upfront with your recruiters - let them know that you are working with multiple agencies
    3. Don’t apply to the same job with multiple agencies - hospitals often throw duplicate applications out
    4. Stay on good terms with recruiters - they might have the best job the next time you are on the hunt! Tell them you found a job with someone else, thank them for their time, and let them know you look forward to working with them in the future
    5. Be clear about your priorities - days/nights, 36/48hrs, minimum desired pay, location, etc. - and know what you are and aren’t willing to compromise
    6. If there are few jobs in your specialty, look for other jobs that could fall within your scope of practice (ICU can work PCU/stepdown, telly, med-surg)
    7. Try to save enough money while on contract to be out of work for 1-3 months - this can give you piece of mind while you search for your perfect job, or just enjoy some time off
    8. If you are uncomfortable with possible long stints of unemployment, start looking for a job about a month before your current contract ends. This way you will already have another job lined up
    9. When jumping back into the job market, ask all of your recruiters for a list of all the current available jobs (even if they aren’t where you would normally go) - this will help you get a gauge of where current pay is at, and help you identify the “unicorn” jobs that are out there
    10. Organize all of your potential job listings - I prefer spreadsheets which allow me to sort the jobs by pay or hours per week
    BONUS - Save and scan all important documents you receive on a job and organize them into a “Employment Info” folder - so any time someone asks for your BLS/ NIH/ etc., it is all up to date and in a central location ready to email!

    We’re looking forward to your travels in NC. I wasn’t too much into this one in that I’m not a nurse but I will say that we have met so many traveling nurses during our 7 years of fulltiming. What an awesome group you guys are. Keep up the good work

    Do you have a video about what to do on the year leading up to deciding to travel nurse with an RV. Trying to find what to learn about in the RV world

      We didn’t do a ton of recording before we hit the road, but that’s a good idea if we can put together some footage! We do have a video on choosing the right RV for you that you might find helpful: ruclips.net/video/LiF8zFPBN3s/видео.html
      And you can always ask us any questions you have. 😊

    Congrats on the new contract! Those are great tips too, thanks for sharing. If you don’t mind divulging, what are the top three agencies that you have dealt with so far? My wife has worked primarily with one agency so far but we are looking to add a couple more in the mix on this next contract search.

      For consistency, I would say my recruiter from Aya has been great, and they have a lot of jobs in a lot of places- but then again, that company has a lawsuit against them for their “bait and switch” tactics. 😆 I just keep my eye on the job boards, and apply with the agency that has the job I want. As long as the recruiter isn’t too pushy and doesn’t seem like they are trying to pull one over on me, it has turned out ok. I have also worked with Host, TNAA, Maxim, and ProLink. There are some bad agencies out there, but I feel like it’s the recruiter that really makes or breaks the experience.

    What resource can you recommend for finding long term RV sites when your looking for new travel nurse assignments? We’re looking to buy a 32’ travel trailer instead of renting short term Airbnb’s.

    • @ProjectRVLivingLost
      @ProjectRVLivingLost  Год назад

      Honestly the way we typically go about it:
      1) Google RV Parks, State Parks & Mobile home parks (sometimes they have RV spots) closest to hospital and work outwards. We call to see who has spots available for that time period and how much it would cost.
      2) We make sure we have a RV spot confirmed for that hospital location before signing a travel contract.
      3) If there are no RV spots (like in popular snowbird locations i.e. AZ, FL, etc) during those times then we look for a different travel contract and start the process over. This has only happened twice in 2.5 yrs.
      Hope this is helpful! 👍

    I work at a hospital in silicon valley CA. I have a 25' driveway that for some reason came with grey water drainage pipe built in. I am wondering if it's a crazy thought to rent out my driveway for a traveling nurse with a 24' RV?? Long term is good too. I'm located in 94087. Thoughts?

    • @ProjectRVLivingLost

      Not crazy at all! Victoria looked at MANY contracts all around that area before choosing a Washington contract, but we had a difficult time finding an RV park. I’m sure someone would jump at the opportunity!

    Hi. Thanks for the great video. I'm wondering if you can address the following. I am a provider of travel nurse housing. I'm trying to find travel nurse discussion groups on FB in order to have discussions with travel nurses to find out what type of things they look for when seeking furnished accommodations. However, most of the travel nurses groups I've been able to find on that site seem to limit this in one of two ways. First, if you are a landlord (not a travel nurse) you can only join groups allow posting of properties, but no general discussion or questions. Second, for the groups that do allow general discussion and questions, you must be a travel nurses. Do you know of any groups that allow non-travel nurses to join for the purpose of general discussion and questions with travel nurses?

      @ProjectRVLivingLost  11 месяцев назад

      Hi! I think I may have seen some questions asked by landlords on the Furnished Finders group (link below). I’m not sure if you have to be listed on FF but I don’t think so. :) I’m honestly not on many of those groups though because we have our RV. Hope this helps.

    I’m looking to travel nurse in an RV. Do I go with a class B, C or trailer? Is it easy to find parks? I feel so lost

    • @ProjectRVLivingLost
      @ProjectRVLivingLost  Год назад

      It really depends on your situation. Will you be solo? With kids? Dogs? Do you want to be able to detach from your RV and use a vehicle to go back and forth to work? Parks are fairly easy to find for monthly rates which is what you would probably want as a traveler for the length of your contract. Lots of things to consider!
