This one has an actual story with me and an orc warrior on the classic stress test. So I was a tauren shaman doing that GOD AWFUL quilboar quest, the requirement was to find stolen loot and bring it back. What was the catch? That the loot was surrounded by a Quilboar army, sitting next to elite mobs. So, I thought about trying to do it solo. *Take a guess* Then, this orc warrior I saw in the distance was trying to go through the quilboar army as well. We ended up teaming against the quilboards to grab the loot, what ended up happening was that he would get their attention, and i'd loot the first box, then we'd do the same thing but reverse. AND IT WORKED! We ended up running for our damn lives on the 2nd one as the quilboars chased us, eventually, we escaped and we both cheered like no tomorrow! It was an amazing moment...Though I do wish I could have that same feeling on retail.

Or running into a recurring enemy! Long ago, I had one rogue who kept tailing me (Resto Druid) around BGs. I was confident I could turn most fights in our favor, but it was a tossup if he was involved, and I kept bumping into him. I had to create an ally char to give him kudos - there was at least one match he turned because of him interrupting me.
I remember when Hogger was an undertaking requiring you to team up with multiple people or get boosted. Now I solo everything. And I started a new undead yesterday and the questgivers kept saying stuff like "oh I can tell you're going to be the most amazing [class] ever." Like, I'm a lvl 4. Treat me like the vermin I am.
That was the beauty of vanilla wow, it encouraged people to group up to finish elite quests. Current wow, you can solo almost anything even elites because they amp up the damage you do or they weaken the mobs. I'm excited for classic and I'm glad I can actually have something to look forward to. Haven't been playing since warlords (that ruined it for me).
@@commonsense7793 you can do solo even more in classic if u are not stupid, its possible by several classes to clear high lvl dungeons solo, as a hunter u can pretty much solo everything except raids, can u do solo dungeons in retail or clear raids designed for 40 man only by two players as a fucking tank and heal?

haha its supposed to be vanilla logic tho. vanilla was actually very social. it's the same on every server every private server too. some people even rage at you for being social in 2020. i was having a conversation in guild and some asshat got mad because we were talking. accepting this feeds the problem and it will just get worse.
@@olfan92 im social in the game when others are and am usually all for grouping up if others want to, but I can understand why alot of people just want to get things done and move on. You have to remember that most of the people who played wow back in vanilla times were younger but now aways they have jobs, kids, and other rl responsibilities and no longer have as much time to dedicate to the game. Both versions of the game have their pros and cons, but neither are bad. It just depends on what you want out of the game
Even on the opposite side, the negative times are so easy to remember lol. Remember in warlords, I was in a raid guild. For some reason, despite having several people on our raid team geared for heroic raiding (myself included, had an IRL friend in a hardcore raiding guild, so he often managed to talk his guildies into letting me DPS heroics with them which was awesome) we struggled on normal raid tiers because people would fudge the mechanics. One day I asked our guild leader if I could adjust the strat we did one specific fight to the way my friends heroic guild did it, because it massively simplified the job of the ranger dps. When I went to set the markers, our tank and his healer wife went ballistic because they “are the ones who decide our strats” and when my guild leader refused to let them walk over me over a simple request that I had made ahead of time, they both left the guild. I just ended up having my IRL friend bring his heroic geared tank in, we did his guilds strat, and one shot a boss our guild had never beaten before. To this day I still find myself wondering wtf was wrong with those people lmao.
I'm usually the one who helps players like the gnome. I still try to convey the mmo experience. If everyone is nice to each other no one needs to be disappointed.
The first part with the classic players, that reminds me so much of my time in BC. I came across a rouge and we became good friends, dueled a lot and quested even more. Great times.
Everyone's gone from the group five seconds after the fight is done. But on the bright side you can always make a group for questing. In the miscellaneous section. Where no one is going to see it.
I've been playing Wrath on private servers for years, a friend of mine wanted to play with me on BFA and since I didn't know what it was like I joined. No one talks, no one wants to group, the only social contact I had in the game was this enemy of mine who helped me kill an elite mob, we communicated trough emotes. It felt like a singleplayer game with very limited and optional multiplayer. I quit the game before my subscription ended.
And that is why I keep player health bars displayed at all times. If anyone comes into my field of view I know if they need assistance or not. And I'm always happy to barge in a save a pal !

I've been playing classic since it dropped and I played retail since vanilla. I had no idea how much I missed the vanilla experience. This video is so spot on. Its pretty much why I would prefer to never go back to BoA. Lol
My all time favorite WoW memory is related to this, and comes from original vanilla. I was questing in Stranglethorn on my orc rogue on a PvE server. I had a quest to kill some elite troll and his two bodyguards, and after clearing the area, realized I probably couldn't take them. I asked in chat, but it was at an off hour and nobody was around. Then I noticed a human mage climb on top of the hill I was on, looking at the same quest mob. I destealthed and waved, he waved back. I pointed to the elite mob and shrugged, he nodded. So I pointed to one of the helpers, pointed to the mage, then pointed to a critter. Then I pointed to the other one and lay down to sleep. The mage nodded and moved into position. I went back into stealth. I moved up to the one I had indicated to sleep and sapped him, the mage immediately polymorphed the other one and I engaged the boss, evade tanking him while the mage helped kill him. I got the credit for the quest then we killed the two helpers and backed off. I pointed to the mage, then the corpse of the quest mob. He thanked me, we did the same routine once they respawned, but I let him tag the boss for the credit. We both got the quest, waved, and went our separate ways. Here we were, on different factions with no way to talk to each other, yet we both completely understood what the other was doing and were able to come up with a plan to take out our mutual enemy. That kind of thing just couldn't happen today, but those are the memories that made vanilla WoW so great. Nothing today is memorable at all.

I was expecting something a bit more contrived from the second half but I was genuinely surprised by the way you decided to take it. It had me dying, especially from the boars perspective
Dare I say Captain Grim might be the greatest WoW Machinma maker of all time - if not than surely the best out there right now. The facial expressions, sound effects, everything - it's masterful. Bravo.
Since classic has the same people playing it won't be that different. When playing Stresstest everyone left the group after finishing the quest. You just need to have luck when meeting people, even in retail I sometimes meet people that stay with me on the quest after finishing, and I try to do that too. Sometimes you find a group that does the whole incursion together, or a bunch of world quests in a row. But mostly you meeet people like that while leveling the lower levels, you quest together, queue for a dungeon and even wait for them afk while farming mobs to share some XP while they are away. The level scaling made that more frequent because people don't leave your group because of outleveling the zone. So I would say it really says more about the character of the player than classic being classic.

Wow I remember those Raptors from STV. My friend and I used to have to jump in the water to get away from them when questing together. Mainly due to the fact that the Nesingwary quests kept asking you to kill more and more powerful ones everytime you turned one in.
You did great on this. I loved the sound effects at the start, I know it's because you sampled the noise but it reminds me of the slapstick you see on like Ed Edd n Eddy or an older comedy show.

The classic servers are a lot friendlier. People group up readily and help you if you are dying and they see it (for the most part, it always).

Since classic has the same people playing it won't be that different. When playing Stresstest everyone left the group after finishing the quest. You just need to have luck when meeting people, even in retail I sometimes meet people that stay with me on the quest after finishing, and I try to do that too. Sometimes you find a group that does the whole incursion together, or a bunch of world quests in a row. But mostly you meeet people like that while leveling the lower levels, you quest together, queue for a dungeon and even wait for them afk while farming mobs to share some XP while they are away. The level scaling made that more frequent because people don't leave your group because of outleveling the zone. So I would say it really says more about the character of the player than classic being classic.

Wow I remember those Raptors from STV. My friend and I used to have to jump in the water to get away from them when questing together. Mainly due to the fact that the Nesingwary quests kept asking you to kill more and more powerful ones everytime you turned one in.
