Colt's Big Bears: The New Kodiak, Grizzly Magnum Revolvers

- Опубликовано: 27 сен 2024
- @BallisticAviation (Luke C.) is back on the floor at NRAAM 20204 talking with Jess from Colt about some of their new revolvers. In addition to a new 8" long variant of the ever-popular Python line of revolvers, Colt is also re-releasing and updating the compact Viper, and introducing two new Bear-themed revolvers with the new Kodiak and Grizzly magnum revolvers.

Thanks, CZ, for saving Colt from itself.
Commie said what?
@@Cantafford2careThey're less commie than we are now.
@@Cantafford2care Sounds like someone's mad that American gun manufacturers objectively suck compared to CZ...
@@evanherb5900 Hey, not all of them.
But the original statement is true: CZ literally did save Colt from themselves.
@@Cantafford2care, thats hillarious considering Colt turned their back on the American civillian market and ONLY came back to us when their military and government contracts started drying up. People joke about H&K hating gun owners, but they are quite literally bound by import and export laws. Meanwhile, Colt has no excuses. Colt also had the oppurtunity to move to a more pro gun state but decided not to, with the persuasion of corrupt Connecticut politicians So, as you were saying boy... ?
I like to see sales rep who knows their product line and details.
Good job lady, you are doing an outstanding job.
They found her in a farm field
@@El_Peto who cares she's doing great
@@raptorman6589 anyone with eyes? Her shoes? The floor tiles?
@@El_Peto what a coincidence! That’s where I found your mom!
@@El_Peto that space above her lanyard is mighty large
Glad they still have cool animal names. Surprised the viper has made a return
Not just the Viper, the other two are comebacks as well.
The Kodiak was first introduced back in 1993 as a limited, special version of the Anaconda.
Same goes for the Grizzly, albeit back in 1994 and being a version of the Python.
@@paleoph6168 didn’t know that. Pretty cool
The Kodiak 44 magnum is classic defined with that smooth unfluted cylinder and 4.25 inch barrel length. Love the factory porting addition though. What a powerful platform.
Not as powerful as the Redhawk.
@@jasonashley4579True. The Redhawk revolver is built tough, as it is catered to those who custom load extra hot rounds.
GREAT to see Colt expanding their line. We need the D frame .38 Special revolvers back! Detective Special, Diamondback, Police Positive Special.
Also, let's see some hammer shrouds for concealed carry.
Diamondback sadly is never coming back because another gun company owns the copyrights to the name
@@ADRay1999 🤷♂ Call it the "Bear Cub"
It's annoying to me that Colt brought back the Cobra/King Cobra on a modified D-frame; none of the original D-frame grips fit them properly. The same will probably go for this "new" Viper.
@@FCV0511 True enough. Though the original D frame series was never available in .357 Magnum. 🤷♂
I have a mint 1975 colt Detective Special. It's my only Colt revolver. Would love to see them bring back a modern detective special in +p.
Who else wants them to do the 1917 in 45acp?
Aw hell yeah
Colt Kodiak is gorgeous 😍
An 8” python sounds awesome
I can't keep myself from laughing every time she said "8 inch python". I can't even read or type it without a little chuckle.
This lady knows her stuff. Give her a raise!! 😉
What great news, Colt comes up with new stuff. Luke, as always, hits it out of the park!
A woman who knows the thorough details about guns……….wow such a great presentation. Great personality!! ☺️
The Kodiak and grizzly definitely
The Viper is back. You love to see it.
She really knew her stuff. That was a great video.
Cool to see the rarest snake revolver making a come back
The rarest would be the Boa, with only around 600 ever produced.
@@paleoph6168 1200 Boas produced half six inch and half four inch.
@@johnrobinson1328still less than the Viper - which had around 4,000 prodcued - so the Boa is still the rarest.
@@paleoph6168 I didn't dispute that. They made twice as many as you claimed. That was the point.
The Grizzly should of been a 7 shot and the Kodiak should of been in 454. Come on Colt/CZ!! And where's the Trooper Mark lll/lV?
I would trade my python for a 7 shot colt grizzly
I wish Colt was making more Blued revolvers than the stainless.
Love that Colt is all about recycling!! ❤
Great job, Jess!
This is no BS. I have bought firearms for a long time and Colt has given me the least problems out of all of them.
And I have expensive taste so even the most expensive manufacturers sometimes I’m amazed what pieces of shit they are
Had to replace the crap. Rear sight on my python with a Wilson.
Nice revolvers. Eyeing the Kodiak. Now if they would just update their 1911s.
I really like these.
Evidently they are making all snake guns again. Which is cool.
a great very interesting video and wonderful wheel guns.have a good one the tfbtv crew.
I would buy the viper over the King Cobra, but it is a bit unoriginal nonetheless. I do hope to see new materials like aluminum, titanium and such for the snake guns
Colt, Taurus, Charter Arms and Ruger have figured out to make a 3" carry 357 with trench sights, Smith and Wesson keeps putting adjustable sights, which is nice, but isn't quite as snag-free.
Mannnnn… what’s a guy gotta do to have Colt make a bear gun in .454 and .500? (Yeah I know Kodiak was originally in .44, but that moniker makes more sense in a 5-Hundo now)
They do that they may have to upside the gun making about the same weight as a SW .500 which is already a huge and heavy revolver
Why don't you just buy a Taurus?
@@WALTERBROADDUS Because it wouldn't look right next to my Smiths, Rugers, and other Colts? I already have revolvers in the calibers I mentioned, I'd just like Colt to make one too... call it the Kamchatka or the Kodiak XL or something.
@@ADRay1999 in .500, most likely, but in .454 - not really, the .44 mag frame isn't much different in size than my Ruger's .454 one. These are forged frames and cylinders as well, a little carpenter steel here and there, and we could have it.
@@SeanPwnery I hear little gun snob?
I'll probably grab a 3" viper. What i am waiting for is a beautiful blued line of snake revolvers.
Really missed the mark not making the Kodiak in 454 Casull. And they didnt mention the price: $1600. Wow 😣
I hope that those Kodiak, Grizzly and Viper are as good or better than the Originals! I am very interested in the Kodiak but I would like to see a 6 inch model not a 4 since 44 Mag does better with the longer barrel.
Do a Colt version of the 1917 in .45 ACP
Cz triggers made their way to Colt & amen to THAT!
The Viper looks interesting.
A viper with a bobbed hammer would be cool.
Are they going to have major quality control issues as well?
Much like new S&Ws. The state of quality control in the industry is a wreck. 😩
Its a sad state of affairs when buying used is more reliable than buying new (my 2020 king cobra was a pile of dogshit, my used dan wesson 15 has never had an issue)
hopefully not, now that CZ owns them
Bet your ass on that!
I wish they would bring back the New Service, why Colt stopped selling an N frame sized revolver that was chambered for everything under the sun at the time is beyond me
From what I recall, they literally left all the machining for it outside in the weather throughout the duration of WWII while they were filling government contracts.
@@KossoffFan While that does make sense, that makes me irrationally angry
@@johnbobson3642 You aren't the only one. It pisses me off too.
I think it'd be cool if they took their Python frame and set it up as a 5-shot .44 magnum as a direct competition to Smith & Wesson's Model 69.
Wow it’s like Colt had a money printing machine if they made classics that everyone wanted! Who would have guess, oh and thanks CZ for showing Colt how to be a successful gun company
This is awesome! Imma have to get a couple colts for my revolver collection
I want to see them do a double stack 10mm 1911
Just hope CZ has improved their qc since the acquisition.
If the Grizzly was a 7 or 8 shot revolver I’d totally get it!
They Need to make a 500 Magnum and call it The Colt Mamba. That would be badass
They should make an Australia Compliant version called the Drop Bear.
It has a capacity of zero. But it’s heavy so you can drop it on the bad guys head.
I'm pretty sure that's on the slate for Oregon at the rate they're going.
Hey Colt, now make the Kodiak in 3 and 2.5 inch to compete with the Ruger Alaskan. Then make it in .454.
That Kodiak looks pretty nice but I wish Colt would offer some smaller, hammer less revolvers for concealed carry.
There's the Night Cobra with a bobbed hammer.
CZ saved Colt. People don't understand that CZ is legit top tier firearms if not thr the best all around brand
Sweet
Is Colt still using their own rear sight or do they now offer the Wilson or Kensight Elliason?
No .500 or .460?
Neat stuff but the Python is my Excalibur.
Original or current production?
@@blauer2551 I'm not a collector so I'm going with new. Had one in my hand and loved how smooth it is.
@@TheRealBobBasher They even sound smooth
Why do they do the full lug? I don't understand the appeal.
Very nice
These were just variants of the Anaconda and King Cobra, so not sure why theyre being brought back
Can it handle +p+ Buffalo bore or underwood?
You are aware that Buffalo Bore states on their website the Anaconda can handle it?
_"This new load is designed ONLY for certain firearms. They are as follows; Ruger Red Hawk, Ruger Super Red Hawk (the Ruger Alaskan is a short barrel Super Redhawk), Ruger Super Blackhawk or Vaquero, Freedom Arms Model 83, Taurus Raging Bull All Steel Versions (no lightweight alloys), _*_Colt Anaconda_*_ , Magnum Research BFR and Dan Wesson Revolvers. Suitable rifles include T/C Encore, CVA Hunter, Handi Rifle and any rifle with a falling block action."_
Reading is fundamental. 😉
@Matteo_ I've read that before, but this is a new gun, and thus, I'm not just assuming it performs the same as an anaconda. I'd like to see either a statement from BB/UW or Colt
Now i know recently some colt anaconda revolvers where having timing issues i wonder if they fixed that when the brought all these new revolvers
I wonder if, now that CZ owns both Colt & Dan Wesson, that a Colt revolver with the Dan Wesson switch-barrel design will come out since Dan Wesson has discontinued revolver production....
ANY MIM PARTS IN THESE COLTS?
Damn it make them in 45 long colt and 454
Would love to see the Anaconda or Kodiak get offered in 45 Colt
Im more interested in the viper & original python
I wish the made a double action 45 acp it would be nice or 45 colt
327 fed mag. Make it.
Still haven't seen a railed 1911 in stock since covid but hey more revolvers nobody asked for, cool thanks.
Revolvers and lever guns keep getting announced, are manufacturers expecting an AWB?
It’s just a smart business move for Neo-Colt. The snake guns were the most successful civilian sales product they ever produced. They rereleased the Python and the market gobbled it up, even with a +$1,000 price tag.
It would be insane to not try and capitalize on that. It would be neat to see new Colt 1911’s, but everybody makes those. Nobody else makes a Python.
Seeing Luke ask what a "half lug" was was just sad lol. Damn kids!! lol.
I think he asked that question on behalf of the 'Damn kids'. Pretty sure he knows what that is.
That Kodiak is screaming my name! I may actually have to sell something to buy it. Maybe if I throw a kidney in I can get the Grizzly as well. THANK YOU CZ/Colt!
8” is way to much 2” is average right guys? Right?
Bring back the diamond back
Colt. Make a classic line like Smith and Wesson. I bet you if it’s around $2500 MSRP people will buy a reproduction New Service or Official Police.
I would love to buy a new Kodiak 44 , but I want Nickel Plated not Stainless Steel. Old school.
I didn't know Brandon Hererra had a gay brother! So cool!
So, nothing new really. These didn't need different names. They're just new variants of what they already have. With the bear name, they could have at least gave the .357 magnum an eight round capacity built on the Anaconda frame, like what S&W does with the .357 magnum Models 327 and 627 being built on their .44 magnum N-frames. Colt missed an opportunity here.
Are they going to bring back the diamondback 38spl back?
I wish they would have brought the Diamondback 22 back instead of making a King Cobra in 22.
I hate those sights on the Viper
real forged parts or cintered steel?
ok but when are these beauties coming out in a blued finish?
EDIT: and please remove those ugly QR codes on the side that you can kinda see at 1:17
Where with the vipers 😂
Way to go, Colt. 6 round revolvers, who could have imagined that? "Same frame as our Python and Anacondom"...so, why a different name? Could have just called them the ported Python and Anacondom.
Here's an idea. How about a $5-600 revolver that holds 7 or 8 rounds engineered so its smooth, light and consistent without the need for hand fitting. Then make it with an alloy frame light weight variant. Oh, and how about an option for a micro red dot.
I know, I know, too radical, no one would ever buy that.
Brandon Herrera?
its the Great Value or Equate version of him
*temu brandon hererra
The guns in that pic are not kodac or grizzly s😊
I’d still rather have a Smith!
What I truly want to know is how the trigger feels; the new Python has a super gritty trigger 😂
algorithm like and algorithm comment
Grab a used S&W Model 19 or 15 and save money. Colt exhumed their old revolver patterns and assembled outside the US with cheap very unskilled labor.
“Sir, instead of three new lines of revolvers that just replace the full lugs with half lugs, shouldn’t we invest in machinery so our 1911s can compete with Turkish imports for a third the price?”
“First of all, you’re fired”
S&W peeing themselves. Get ready for memorial day sales on S&W lol
gun
I hate that I want them all so does my wife.
Could be Colt and other company's know politics will outlaw semi autos so they push revolvers and lever guns to stay in business, just a thought.
*price is mentioned* *audible laughter*
*closes video*
No one should buy this
1000 for viper
Are revolvers making a comeback or are these investments going to flop
Comeback big time. People are sick of semi autos
I say a bit of a renaissance
I’ve recently purchased a Ruger Super BlackHawk in .44 mag and I currently have a 50th anniversary Ruger BlackHawk on layaway also .44 magnum
They are going to flop big-time. It's 2024 and we're going to be dealing with WW3 and Gun Grabbers. These revolver and Lever Action fudds obviously have NOT been ammo shopping for their handicapped guns. 30-30 Winchester is running $60 for 20 rounds. 38 Special is running $50 for 50 rounds. 357 Magnum is running $75 for 50 rounds. There's a reason why we sold off these Old gun's 30 years ago and went with better options.
@@johnj.baranski6553lol, where did you get that from? I didn't realize people were sick of more reliable guns with more ammo for the same weight
They already came back. Values shot up years ago. Buying now is at peak pricing.
Don't buy as investments, buy because they're cool and you like them.
I love revolvers and I want Colt to do well, but these are range toys. The most "backcountry" these polished tanks will see is a boomer fudd open carrying on the local 2 mile nature trail. Let's see something that competes with the S&W model 69 or 329pd and then we can talk about backcountry.
😂🤣😂
Except for the relative handful of backwoodsmen and handgun hunters, pretty much everybody who owns a magnum revolver over .357 treats it as a range toy. Not sure why these are any better or worse than any others, except maybe when it comes to price.
@@jic1 They seem like good guns, I just thought it was ridiculous when the Colt sales rep was talking about "backcountry". Sell it for what it is - a heavy range piece. I would really like to see Colt develop lightweight models with utility features and red dot capability. I wish S&W would do the same and expand their pd models.
Collector items not shooters.
hop touched a revolver?
She's a big one
A 3 inch full frame revolver is not "great for concealed carry."
Ported barrel destroyed a nice hand gun
No it didn't.
Why does Colt put that stupid QR code on the frame?? Hard Pass
Why does Colt hire big fat disgusting excuses for women showcasing their guns?
Meh
It's sad that Colt is just capitalizing on the name because the quality is subpar and pales in comparison to the iconic original.
Based on what metrics?
guy is a butthurt boomer
@@johnj.baranski6553based on the metric of rosetinted glasses and 'they don't make 'em like they used to!' Which is objectively true in some areas, but I don't think it's fair at all with respect to firearms.
Well if we’re talking about originals
The OG anaconda was terrible CQ was bad plus it doesn’t help when they brought it out after a strike
Then go buy an original... I think the sad part is, you can't afford 1...
