    Hi Michael, If you don’t mind explaining this answer to me from a study exam test.
    A patient with impaired semantic knowledge about living things (foodsandanimals)but intact semantic knowledge about manufactured objects (tools) often has:
    And the answer was:
    impaired semantic knowledge about musical instruments and intact semantic knowledge about body parts
    I have no idea how that answer fits with that statement.

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  3 года назад +1

      There may be poor wording in the question but the answer choice does have support. There are cases showing musical instruments classed with living things and body parts as artefacts for some patients but I don't think "often" would describe this (better wording might be "may have"). That said, I may not be up-to-date on research on category-specific deficits so perhaps this is more common than I'm aware of. You can find a summary of cases involving instruments and body parts in this review paper (on p. 225): sci-hub.st/10.1080/02643290244000266

    Is this also what's called the Modal model? That's what my book/class has been calling it.

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  5 лет назад

      Yes, this can be referred to as the 3-Box model, the Multi-Store Model, or the Modal model of memory.

    Hi really appreciated you for making all these review it really helped me grasp the concept better.
    Can I also get your opinion on the following question? Personally I feel it’s 2) but my classmate say it 3) which is memory but I feel that memory are subjective in this case. Thank you for your help! Based on what you learned, which of the following examples is the least illustrative of the subjective nature of our human experience?
    1) Apprehension when starting a physically demanding exercise routine.
    2) Finding a cat's face in a picture of black and white dots.
    3)The memory of your last family holiday.
    4)Being surprised when your surgeon arrives with pink hair and is covered in tattoos.

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  3 года назад

      I'm not sure what is included in the "based on what you learned" part of the question, but it seems to me that 2.) would be the least subjective. Recognizing faces would be fairly universal, while all the others would depend on your prior expectations and experiences (which would influence what you notice and remember from a holiday, as well as the concept of a "holiday" itself).

    Thanks for your awesome videos , I have a question, does the stimulation of amygdala which is on the top of the hypocampus determines how much time the memory remains there , I'm curious about this because there should be a reason that amygdala and hypocampus is so close, and does it mean the amount of emotion we feel determines how much hypocampus will be stimulated?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  Год назад

      The amygdala does play a role in the formation of emotional memories and cueing the hippocampus when emotional events occur. That said, there isn't a specific amount of time that emotional memories will last, and while they can be more vivid, they are still subject to biases and distortion just like other memories. Hope this helps!

      @Ali_9402 Год назад

      @@PsychExamReview yes , what about physical arousal does it effect the formation of memories? , I'm just looking for a pattern here

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  Год назад

      @@Ali_9402 Yes, in general greater arousal is associated with better memory retention and this may have to do with the release of stress hormones like adrenaline
