When I first heard that song on "Songs & Stories, Vol. 1", I was so in love with the song that you wrote, David. What a heart you have. Then when Maggie Beth sang it, I was close to tears thinking about Mary watching Jesus die that horrific death on the cross. And you were right when you said you had the perfect singer to sing this song. Maggie Beth did a magnificent job. As many comments say, she has an awesome voice just like her dad's! I have always wondered how Mary was able to stand when her son was being crucified without ever having done anything wrong. The hardest thing to live through is the death of your child. At the foot of the cross, she was not thinking about His resurrection, was she? Thanks for sharing!
Mary knew Jesus was the Son of God and that Jesus would live on forever with his father. I'm sure this was hard for her because she was human and his mother, but she also knew that God would take care of him.

She's doing something different with her voice than she used to do and it's great. She is using more of her throat and chest voice than she used to. It makes for great contrast with her high notes. Love it. Only the best to honor the Lord.

David said he wrote it before Maggie Beth was born for a possible musical and the right time. Then when he did Stories & Songs, Vol 1 - he realized he had the perfect voice to sing it. What an incredibly talented family. This is such a beautiful song and sung beautifully by Maggie Beth.
Her range is beautiful too as well as a beautiful message of a mom's love being practical.
