    Dr Avi is the doctor I go to. She is my medical go to person. She is a great caring person and we need to support her new low carb clinic. I have been using Keto / low carb for 15 months with OMAD routine eating plenty of protein, fat and fibre. Never felt better at 67.

    Fantastic presentations. Thank you. Congratulations to Case 1 lady on her dietary/lifestyle changes. I was surprised at how easy low carb was to sustain. Love not being hungry/angry. In fact this morning I mowed for about 1 hour (uneven yard) and had not eat since 6 pm last night. I managed to hold out until 12 noon. I did make sure that I got some electrolytes and water.

    Wonderful all round. Just goes to show how simple changes can have huge benefits. I firmly believe that diet is the single most influential factor in so many modern diseases.

    Now 70 I have been struggling with prostate enlargement for many years and although it got a little better on a ketogenic diet that I started on my own to normalize blood-pressure and had many remarkable inflammation reductions It did get some better for my prostate but not totally. Then I saw on a video named "7 things not to eat with prostate enlargement" and one of them was diary. I was still frying in butter and eating yogurt daily. The reason they said was that milk contains growth-factor IGF1 or 2 and that is great for calves but not for guys with enlarged prostates. So I quit yogurt about mid December and already felt improvement after 2 days so I also stopped with butter and use tallow and it got better and even now it feels great although not completely as a young boy jet.
    I do wonder if IGF's are blood proteins so water soluble like insulin, not fat soluble. I can probably reintroduce the butter because I love to fry in it as it has much less spattering. Probably Greek yogurt has about 90% water and butter only 1-2 % so IGF's should not be important in butter.

    I tried to find a medical doctor who supports low carb here in Los Angeles. I think there is a real demand for this, and a clinic such as the Melbourne Low Carb Clinic is one I would support here.

    There is a real problem in our medical system when patients are afraid to tell thier doctors that they are on a low carb diet. It demonstrates to me the ignorance of nutrition within the medical community and also the lack of tolerance to holistic approaches in medicine.

    Challenge cases can offer the greatest learning opportunities. It's so tempting to enjoy the successes... and shrug off the rest. But engaging in the challenge cases is the only way to come to grips with them. Thank you for sharing a few of yours!!
    "Is there something I'm missing with this patient? Is there something else we might try?"
    Keep up the great work. And please keep sharing!

    In the case of the 58 year old male who is an alcoholic, it's not the low carb diet which has failed him, it's his lack of discipline or self help that's failed him. The old adage, you can't help those who won't help themselves holds true in this case. Low card high fat diet will ONLY work if you stick to the guidelines.

    • @ketolomics
      @ketolomics Год назад +3

      But if a physician can kindle hope by helping a patient win a few tangible improvements, the patient might begin to believe that taking another step toward recovery might be within reach. This helps explain why physicians who provide patients with formative feedback tend to cultivate durable successes. Alcoholism presents difficult challenges. So does being a single mother. So does living with a carb lover. Or being unemployed. Life isn't tailor made for adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles. A few small changes, though, a few tangible successes, and a patient's life can begin to change in wonderful ways. And maybe, who knows but those small changes might become the keys to working through some of the many other challenges life throws at us.
