My rod bearing blew on my dr200 5 years ago and recently missed it so much that I decided to learn how to rebuild an engine and reviving her. You're completely right that it's the most perfect bike for everything.
BXD!!!
I find out 5 years later what caused your engine to fail on the freeway. That was a great video though, especially the moment it blew up and then you had to push your DR200 to the next off ramp. You sweated your ass off, finally got it off the road and then rested under a shade tree. Good times.
Cheeaaaahhh!!!!!!
So Glad Watching BXD is More Entertaining Than This DUDE Who Would Say Anything To Sell The Pen !!!
In 2014 I did a trip with a dr200 from Casablanca, Morocco to Paris, France.
hey man! i was thinking about doing hte same thing do tell us more
Great post.
That's all the convincing I need
You are insane.....I'm jelly lol
This is a PSA and a wakeup call to every motorcycle company. People aren't getting into motorcycling because we've been hypnotized into thinking that bikes need to have 200 hp or 2000 cc's. That is exactly why the newest of my 3 bikes was made in 1981.
My wife has one of these, she loves it.
The first time I rode it I thought man is this slow, but the funny part was how fun it was.
I ride it to town now and then and it always makes me smile.
DR 200 is a fine motorcycle. I have had more thumbs up from this little bike. I'm a senior citizen, and love it. I purchased the windshield and all the options available when I bought mine. it's super and inexpensive to maintain and operate. As this young man is often said, it's the destination. I agree👍
I'm a senior too and I thought I wanted a drz 400 super moto, I ride street 98% but this 200 is terribly interesting
Best bike for chasing cattle around the ozzie bush. Enough go to keep up with a runner but low geared enough to walk em along for the day.
Ryan1980 I've often said the 200's are perfect cow bikes! They start easier, handle easier, and pick up easier after a crash, and still have enough power to outrun even the most stubborn young steer! I personally prefer the Honda XR200's.
DRs are always fun, regardless of CCs 🙏
Yup i got the 650
Had a 200 and a 350 good bikes
My little brother has a 1987 dr100 it's a pretty cool little bike
I've been riding for 30 years and I've had a few Harleys and I still want one of these
same here, I'm looking for one I'm 76.
Sean, I love your video and definitely love your bike. I am retired and live in Republic of Panama. Most motorcycle's here are lightweights. 125's. 100 cc models as well. I have a 2018 Honda XRE 190 ABS enduro style motorcycle and I just love it. Before that I had a Yamaha 125 YBR. I use my bike quite a bit but mostly I use my Yamaha BWS 125. I do not have a car. Lightweight motorcycle's and scooters are a way of life in the third world. Cheap to buy and cheap to use. And very dependable. I appreciate you showing off your light wieght motorcycle and showing folks how fun they are and how practical they are for basic transportation. I have been riding lightweight motorcycles for many years. I love them.
Just love my 2009 DR 200 SE. I hit the road and find trails all the time. Handles great and can go dang near anywhere.
NIce!! Looking for this as my first ever bike for longer trips (260miles in a day) etc exploring my country. What were your thoughts and what models did you look at?
I have this bike and it’s awesome!
I’m 6”3 and weigh 245lbs. And this bike carries me easily.
I have one too. I'm 6-5" and 325 lbs. Carries me around just fine. 65 years old.
I have one too. I'm 6"8 and 405 lbs . Carries me great!!
I'm 7 feet tall and 580 lbs. I broke it.
Im 9'5 and weight 760lbs, and i didn't even bought one
I'm 12 feet tall 609 lbs and am copying the other comments
Just got a 2003 for my girlfriend, she's learning to ride, 62 years old.
The blue is so much cooler than our yellow one, but ours was FREE ! Yes, free, with a clear title, 4000 miles, it was just ridden really hard and low on oil. Cam chain broke, 2 burnt rocker arms, and a little scuffing in the cylinder. Everything mics out fine, bottom end is perfect. So for around $250, and my time, she'll have a awesome little first bike. I have my Harley Dyna Superglide and 2 GSX-R 1100 Suzuki, and my MANCUP NITROUS SUZUKI 1425, the 200 will be right at home in our little garage.
THANKS FOR SPREADING THE GOSPEL !!!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.
SEE YOU IN THE WIND!
🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸🏍🇺🇸
That's awesome. I actually love the yellow one but the blue is nice too. I can't get one yet but I would like to have something like it in my garage too. I have several big bikes and wouldn't mind having something small and cheap to ride off road or on road when I feel like doing a little exploring/sight seeing
Great! I just bought a 2007 DR200Se today! Got a great deal and only 4700 miles on it. Super fun and great for me because I'm a 5' 4" female. I can comfortably touch the ground
How much did you pay for it...I'm trying to sell one!
A while back the guy who does Torture Test magazine (I forget his name) did a 24 hour endurance race on a DR200. Think he did pretty good too
Your advice is fantastic, been riding a long time and I agree 100%. Great videos and you seem like a no BS "it is what it is" seller. Can't ask for more than that. God bless!
I have a dr250. It can actually cruise on the highway at 65. Great video and thanks for the words of wisdom..
I've got a 2017 dr200s. I love it.
Ohh nicee!!! The black-red-dark blue version??! Wow. Looking for this as my first ever bike for longer trips (260miles in a day) etc exploring my country. What were your thoughts and what models did you look at?
Love the words of wisdom and nice video as always.
Great video great bike, and a great verse! Best reviews on RUclips!
I bought a new 2019 200 this year and it's all TRUE. This is a light, sleek beauty. It's not about speed and power. It's a little gem that's a blast to ride.
I learned to ride in the early 90s on a Yamaha DT200 (250?) on my summer vacation on a Greek island. And it was the perfect beginner's bike. Even though it might have been a bit too powerful for me at the time (you could pull wheelies in second gear, no problem), but the riding position, ergos and flickability were great. And if you dropped it it wasn't a big deal, either. Most of the stuff was bendable plastic and if something did break, it didn't cost an arm or a leg to fix.
I just had a 175 two stroke dt, and let me tell you she was a ripper 😂
Sean, when I was your age, I lived in Tokyo for a few years. I used to have a DR250SH. It truly was a great bike. I'm sure this is fun, albeit slower. My little DR used to fly. It's the one bike from my past I wish I still had.
i love little dual sport bikes, ive got a 1990 yamaha dt50, a 1994 suzuki dr125, and a 2018 suzuki drz400sm. and i have so much fun on that little 2 stroke dt50
I bought a new unsold 2017 DR 200 last month at the local Suzuki dealer that had it discounted to $2900. I had a SP 200 back in the late 80's and loved it, the only difference between the old SP and the DR is the DR has electric start which is nice but I wish they would've left the kick start on just in case the battery goes flat. But yes the bike is slow but because the DR is so light weight you can throw it around and do things I was unable to do with the big KTM 640 I recently got rid of. I have much much more fun offroad with the DR200.
Do you think a 2008 UM V2s 650r a good starter bike? From what I seen researching, they dont have a fast first gear, more a mid range bike for power.
Just bought a 2019, I like it. I just wish it came with a kick start, only aftermarket kits I can find are for the 400. Anyone know of any aftermarket kickstart kits for the 200?
I have a 2018 klx 250 and just rode my friends 08 dr 200 and was blown away with how fun it is and light!
Looking for this as my first ever bike for longer trips (260miles in a day) etc exploring my country. What were your thoughts and what models
would compare to this? Fuel gauge would be nice as a bonus. Always between crf250l (heavier) and the klx250 as well as the old DR350 '96 or so. An old dr350 vs the dr200s? all the best love your channel
my brother got one of these recently and I'm only 10 but I can reach everything like the clutch, rear brakes, front brakes, shifter and all the pegs so if he can fix it up he'll give it to me when I'm 12. They are great bikes, my moms favourite part is that their really quiet. My favourite part is the size because if I already knew how to ride a dirt bike I could easily ride the 200, but the only bike I have is a broken baja 50cc dirt runner that my brother got for me used, but he couldn't fix because it needs a new carb so he's just gonna get a new carb for it and hope for the best.
Harley guy for about 25, or 30 years, (still have my Soft tail) and bought a 2020 DR200S a couple of weeks ago. This little sucker is an absolute hoot. It's not fast, and takes forever to get to 60mph, but this thing is really fun to ride, and is not scared to go bouncing around off road either. Too bad I hate riding in the cold with winter on the way. Oh well, play time in a couple of months.
Thank you for the ride and review of the DR 200 as it sounds like the perfect enduro bike for everyone ! 👍
Recently bought a 2021 DR200s, fun little bike to learn on.
Wooow, I like the Suzuki DR so much. It is a beautiful bike. I have a Klx 150 and that's an awesome dual-sport bike too, but I want a little more power on high mountains. The DR 200 would only include a disc brake back... Recently I knew a guy who is selling me a DR 2003 blue color as you have. Greetings from the Andean mountains.
Small dual purpose bike s and great for new rider s and as I age out the small light bike s are an option to keep the ride going!
100% for the scripture drop.
Need to know what wire led is positive!? Can you help !?
Cool video!
Love my dr200. Thought about getting another bike, can't find one better!
i have a dr650 plus a dr200 love them great fun
This exact bike was my first street legal motorcycle. Got it for $700, 1200 miles, cleaned the carb and it ran solid to the day I sold it two years later. Road two up on it plenty and it could commute around town no problem.
That's the bike I took the MSF course on. Beast of a machine!
My very first CZ 250 cc motocrosser in '71 had 21 hp stamped on a tag on the frame..and weighed 250 lbs before you replaced all the metal with Preston Petty stuff...lol.
after new pipe and mikuni carb and some port work maybe 30..33 hp..how far things have evolved
Bought one a few days.
Sold my first one a few years ago and always regretted it
Rode a friends on his little single track loop. It was amazingly fun even on the stock tires. Might pick up a 650 this week.
I have a DR200se and it's amazing.
it was my first bike so it's got a few dents in it but it's still a fun bike to run around in.
I have a chance to get a cherry one in CA with 4k on it 2015 for 2600. Im gonna get it cause im only 5'5"" but been riding my whole life and would like to put the 398 in it. Would that fit in this
So what’s a reasonable price for one of these bikes? I found a 2018 w/4k miles on it, the guy wanted 4k for… good deal or not?
I took the MSF course on this little DR200s and it was a blast. I don’t know that I’d buy one... but if I could just have one for cheap I definitely would.
Does a KTM 500 have a metal tank?
Amen, brother. I tell everyone this: Are you having run riding? Then what does it matter what you ride? I have a 125 Zuma. Ridiculously fun to tool around on.
Exactly. Ive got a 125 and its a blast.
The best bike is the one you have.
Great farm bike. Everyone can hop on and skoot around.
Just curious how tall you are? I'm 6'4" thinking of having 1 of these to kick around. Just trying to get a size comparison. Thanks!
Sean. Do a video on your helmet setup. That mic sounds so clear. Nice job getting the sound right.
Sean how does the Suzuki DR200 compare all around to the Yamaha TW200
I have dr650 sm with alot of mods and its the funniest bike I ever had with cool power
Just got a 1988 xr200r, not a dual purpose exactly but still a heck of a lot of fun 👍
Awesome!
I took the msf course in one of these.
Me too! Just passed today
just brought a dr250 97 model for my son to ride at a mates farm, it so good im thinking about keeping it for myself, brought it for 1080 USD with 3 months rego, seller was 78 and decided it was time to give it up, its such a blast.
this is the bike i have now, it is also my first one. the fastest i have got it up to is 70, and it is kind of scary because i live on a sandy road that changes every hour.
Those dr 200s are awesome and cheap
I have one an 07 is super fun and cheap to fix and work on was my first bike and is fixing to be the oldests first bike
luv the smaller bikes...cruisers in my case; previously owned 2 different suzuki gz250's & current is a yamaha v star 250; feel too cramped on the older honda rebels; would luv getting a suzuki van van 200 or yamaha tw200 down the road...
good video!!!!
I've been looking for a dr 200 but I can't find one anywhere, I can't even find like an older xl 200 or anything
Dude you should be a salesman I feel I really need one of these now. I found one on marketplace and am buying for my daughter to learn on
Can u put a 450cc engine on these? N where can I purchase a 450cc engine
They do still make this bike, but where do I get it in the US
In the trunk of your Cadillac ?!!
All I knew about Cadillacs is you have to be over 80 to drive one, but now I know 2 things...they must be huge!
(I'm from the part of the world that gave you the Yugo - so easily impressed)
Ordered a gray 200s today. Bought a new drz400s last month. I may have a problem.. lol
Why so many cracks on these roads?
I just bought a brand new 2021 dr200 because my 2019 dr650 is just to big for those simple trail rides, I'll never sell either of them, my 650 is set up for long adventures and the dr200 I'll leave basically stock for the bush and camping adventures, I now have the best of both worlds.
Awsome bike
I’m thinking of getting one of these for my first bike, they sell them as road legal farm bikes with all kinds of helpful bash bars and rear rack for hay bales and they look really cool, very utilitarian! I was thinking of something like a Honda cb500x but for half the price I can have one of these which will be much less precious and potentially too powerful for a newbie. Should be plenty to knock about on although I’m sure I’d get teased a little or probably a lot by the boys but I’d know that deep inside they are jealous!
Thanks father 😁 , see u on Sunday
Can it wheelie easy?
My friend has an xt 400 it just dropped a valve the other day
I had a dr200. Super fun. Off-road anywhere. Anyone can ride it. Easy to work on. On the road it can hit 70mph but it cruises well at about 45-50mph.
How do I take the restrictions off??
I have a 2015 Dr200s it’s fast and fun it go’s 70 with wind behind you
Please do a dr350 one day man, litteraly the greatest get you any where bike ever made
Kickstart ?
Sean I seem to be at a stale mate, I'm looking to get into riding, and I want to start on a cruiser, but I'm 16 years old, 6'3 and 140 lbs, what would you recommend for me
If your 6'3 and weigh 140lbs... skip the bike and buy a burrito mafucko
Great video Suzuki should sponsor u;,)
I have a 2014 xt 250 its like 18hp
A Little beast. I love drz 200
Having owned a 2017 dr200s it was alot of fun. But it makes closer to 12hp than 20hp. My worked ttr230 made about 18hp. The Dr was easier to ride than the ttr but a bit heavyer.
How tall are you? I'm 6ft 200lbs and a little worried that It will feel small to me. However, I'm upgrading from a Hawk 250cc Enduro so anything is better I guess! 😂
Overall nice review of a neat little bike I am considering though a few things you say make me laugh.
"Since this bike is slow you can corner faster than bikes with a lot of power since there is no power to make you lose control and keep the front end down". ... that might be true if the person riding the bike with a lot power does not know how to ride. or you are riding in a congested parking lot.
Needs it's standard air box back
would you say it's will restore performance? thanks.
@@eddiemcg All depends what theyve done when fitting the aftermarket filter
@@johna6968 care to elaborate on the negative/positive details? thanks again.
@@eddiemcg Not particularly
@@eddiemcg vacuum slide carbs never work right without the airbox the slide is calculated to the volume of the airbox. unless they swapped to a Flat slide carb with no vacuum diaphragm then the bike will never run right no matter how much tuning you do. this bike has the stock carb on it with stock exhaust and everything, running no air box is a performance loss.
Picking one up Friday for my first bike
don't blame the bike
accept the goof
own the goof
be one with the goof...
This is a great bike, but at 63 when I was a kid riding motorcycles they all had wide comfy seats, now these 2x4 seats hurt after 30 min, I finally found my bike, a Suzuki rv200, known as a van van 200, the seat is wide and amazing and the power plant is the same as the bike in this video. They quit making the rv200 in 2020? Of course, but they are out there.
bought this bike when I was 17 for 2k now that I'm now 18 I insured it and plated it, insurance is 75 a year love it, only downside its a bit hard to start if its cold (ps it has a port for a kick start but can find the kit for it, if you know where I can find it DM me)
Only thing for me is in LA, I'm super far away, 1.5hrs + from off road stuff and CA has closed so much stuff in so cal :/
More like 13hp when measured at the tire lol but that’s all it needs for what it is 👍
I have the 1987 dr125, it can go steady on highways at about 55mph
my guy loves the warp stabilizer
Oh hey, that was my buddies first bike. One just like it anyhow lol
that thing is bombproof
