- Ever wondered what it's like to fly a kite with an engine strapped onto it? Well, this is it!!
My friend Jonathan owns and flies a bright green Bat Hawk; a South African built light sport aircraft that is perfect for "Low and Slow" flights. Join me as I fly this awesome machine for the very first time, and witness it's wonderful performance in strong wind conditions. It's the perfect bush plane for many reasons.

Proudly South African. Nice small plane I watched the whole video feeling dizzy lol..
Your laughter and smile are both infectious. I simply can't help myself and cheer up when you being so happy.
Open cockpit flying is honestly the most liberating feeling! Whether it is a Stearman or a Bathawk.
Hi Bambi, I like your brilliant flying in this amazing Bat Hawk, Bush Plane. There are many kinds of planes exit in this world we haven't seen Bambi and thank you Bambi for introducing all those planes
The plane is very cinematic. Just wait for the Hollywood to learn about it!
Back in the Archean - well 1990 actually - I learnt to fly on a B22 Bantam at Waihi New Zealand. The Bat Hawk is a development of the Bantam which I think was designed and built by Max Clear at Hamilton New Zealand. It was very easy to fly, my log book says solo after 3.8 hours instruction, and it was great fun flying around the Coromandel and Waikato, landing on otherwise inaccessible beaches, and small cropdusting strips high in the hills. The aero club CFI was an ex cropduster pilot with 20,000 hours and he taught us not to rely on our instruments (rudimentary as they were) but to fly using our senses. To me that was the essence of flying. Loved flying that Bantam and this clip and your infectious laughter bought back a lot of memories. Thank You!!!
You've been having lots of fun lately in South Africa, looks like a very interesting place, similar to my Arizona beauty.
A dream of mine to pilot one of these. Hopefully one day. Ultimate freedom
I loved the laughing and sighs of excitement. Was working on my laptop with this in the background…made me feel like I was out there in the bush plane instead of here at work!
Pilot Bambi - thanks for taking us along for the ride! Great video.
For a long time I wanted a DR Chinook....... they stopped building them last summer then I ran into this........... THIS IS IT ! I WANT ONE !
Brilliant 🇬🇧 bambi what a experience for you it looked a bit windy but awesome to fly.🤘👍keep well and safe phil.
That looks like a bunch of fun. Great little inexpensive airplane.
hey what a cool plane. when i was in South Africa I wanted to fly such a plane
What a great little plane. Looked like you had a lot of fun flying in it.
another "good fun" video. Thank you :)
What a nice machine. I did a lot of flying many years ago on a CDL pipe and fabric microlight designed and built by a friend Colin Liddle. It was some of the most enjoyable flying l have had.
It is nice to fly fast complex machines but for the pure joy of flying one can not beat such a machine. I would very much like to get a ride in this one
Nothing better than open cockpit flying 😁 Rosita, you gotta try weight shift trike flight.Early morning flight would do.Great experience.
Very nice. I've long said the Bathawk is a low-budget entry into Bush flying. I haven't yet flown in one myself, but from conversations with several pilots flying these they are often dismissed for not being a "real" airplane, and are somewhat underrated.
Amigo que clase de ultraligero es este avion ?
Sabes de su autonomia ?
Que tipo de licencia necesitas
Para volar en este avion ?
Love watching how much you enjoy flying. I am bald but if I had hair like yours I would tie it in a ponytail. The visibility was great. Thanks for sharing.
Love this channel
That’s awesome 👏🏻!! I love how much fun you have no matter the plane 👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
Looks like a lot of fun!
Wow... what a cool little bush plane! Looks so different, love it! :D And looks like proper fun and sporty! :D
I can't help thinking how the Bat Hawk would be, converted to full electric power! I do know it would probably be heavier due to the battery system that would be required. The electric motor would probably be lighter however! However you might be able to get two hours flying time out of it if done efficiently. That would be an interesting conversion!
Wow! You have so much fun with all of your adventures! I love it! I wish I could come along.
It reminds me of a German TV advertisement from the 90s: "Die Frisur sitzt! Drei Wetter Taft!" 😂
Lucky you stay safe we love from 🇨🇱
I like the John Deere color scheme!
Very jealous lovely to see your super smiling face keep on filming
Actually the Micro Aviation B22 Bantam was developed by Max Clear in Te Kowhai NZ (passed), quite a few were exported and the Papa's family have evolved the design but essentially its a B22, cool to see the legacy continue/evolve and a great watch thank you.
If a bird hits the propeller you get a free tie-dye shirt
Het is heel tof om je haar zo alle kanten op te zien vliegen!
The go-kart of planes!
Thank you so much video. 👏👏👏
Rosita, you are collecting aircraft experience so fast ! Wonder, where you will land some day ! Good luck 👍👍
Love ur channel
Brilliant! Have you ticked off weightshift/flexwing microlights off your 'to fly' list? Open invitation from Scotland from me!
Rosita i got from mentour Pilot, it's great watching your videos. Do you do videos teaching how to fly like mentour pilot? Hope you do.
Have a great day
This fly is good for your hair, nice vlog :)
It distracts me that the engine is up there hahaha. greetings from Argentina!!!
Is the hairstyle part of the dramaturgy or the stage design? :-)
The BatHawks are an amazing anti rhino poaching aid in Kruger National Park.
Well Bambi, you’ve flown just about everything else, perhaps paragliding next??
@Pilot Bambi are you going to do a video testing out an airplane life vest?
This plane looks in concept very similar to the Ikarus C22.
The hair, the hair, the hair…please don’t fly like this. You had a lot of fun 🤩 that’s awesome. It looks like a C22 in modern version. Ok, the Jabiru you must have a love to this engine. I would change it to Rotax 914/ 915. And the wind sucks in the seat position. Needs some doors I guess. Glad, you enjoy flying so much.
What a fun little aircraft! But I bet you wished you had a hair tie on you! :D
Thanks for the video; it appears to an absolute fun machine. I am in Canada and like most areas we have many small lakes. Any idea if this unit has had floats (pontoons) designed. I can imagine it being excellent for our northern lake areas for fly in fishing.
They have actually designed and tested floats for the BatHawk. So it would be awesome to see how it works on lakes!
Very cool! If you go again you'll have to put up your hair 😂
Very unique aircraft. Do SA aviation regs require it to be classified as experimental? That would be a great plane to show off at Oshkosh. Or maybe they have had one there in the past?
Yes it does fall into the LSA category and is an experimental. And rightly so as it’s much cheaper to maintain that way! The first two BatHawks have arrived in the States this month, so I’m pretty sure they’ll be displayed at OSHKOSH 22’.
Looks like fun. Do they sell them in the UK? Not much bush here though!
You should try to go fly the Bushcat by Skyreach. They're used in conservation of the Rhinoceros in Africa.
The price of it should give a lot of would be pilots a chance to learn on the cheap side. Very cool.
Very cool! Would have loved an explanation about the controls though. Is that a brake lever on the control stick?
Yes that indeed is the brake lever. The throttle is also on both sides making it dual control.

Hola amigo
Muy buen video
Que airplane is this ?
Tu enseñas a fly ?
Donde es ese lugar ?
Deseo aprender a volar ulm
En panama no tengo
Una escuela de vuelo.
Thanks man
Very manoeuvrable but can it dodge poachers bullies or do you shoot back at them? André
Another awesome video. Any ideas what the lever does on the control stick?
Hey Robin. It's the brake lever and really effective in that position!
PILOT BAMBI first of all do u know why I subscribed this channel.i was also a pilot aspirant😔😭i always have keen interest in aviation but I can't become pilot. So everytime I fullfill my imagination pilot life by watching your aviation videos. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Bambi.god bless u. Someday I will also join u ❤️😊
Is that a kit plane?and how much is it?what are it's requirements
😍😍😍
Obviously anyone who owns one of these needs to keep a couple extra baseball caps in the cockpit for anyone who forgets to bring their own. Hahaha! :-) Anyone know of one of these in southern Nevada or thereabouts? What kind of fuel economy and range does this plane have?
A canoe with wings
Hi, is there any reseller in Europe?
👍🤘
Did it make you feel like you were a bug?
Its a Bantam
: )
Ya need to do something to tie back your hair in such a windy situation. It's Dangerous otherwise. Regards, Octoman in NI UK
Did You try to open up a window? Please don't it's too windy.
Rosita tienes un email
Para escribirte por favor?
Gracias
A cap would have helped…
It's a car that can fly
you shouldve worn a hat..
Niet gek; zo'n € 25,00 p/u. Aanschaf toch nog zo'n € 26K. Wel een gave ULM ;-)
It may be functional...... but........it’s the ugliest bloody aeroplane I have seen!😁
Will it do 70 mph ?
