  • In an exclusive chat with filmmaker and actor Ananth Mahadevan, he speaks about how he got into the field of acting despite being from a simple Tamil family.
He speaks about acting in Ghar Jamai and then later directing it with R Madhavan.
He opens up on how his film Ghoonghat Ke Pat Khol is similar to Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's Laapata Ladies. He also says why Aamir or Kiran never called him.
He speaks about why Shahid Kapoor was being targeted because he was considered to be a clone of Shah Rukh Khan.
He also says why he did a film with Himesh Reshammiya and how he gets ignored by the film powers.

I agree with Ananth ji . He has a point . We are forced to appreciate mediocre films . They are pushing vulgarity and disturbing violence in the name of movie making . It’s like we are forced to consume such trash .

I agree. Violence needs a purpose in a film just like gangs of wasseypur, badlapur, raman raghav, ek haseena thi, satya, paanch, gulaal etc. the current violent films nowhere touch these legendary films !

OG person. Happy to see someone showing guts to say how films grossing more than 500 cr might not be that great. Indian film fraternity will not support such OGs but will try to shove nepo or non nepo kids through our throats.

Marvelous interview! Anant spoke his heart out. AM first appeared in hilarious TV serial Ghar Jamai as Somu (DD-80's era) along with Satish Shah, i didn't know there was another version made with the same name in 90's.
@44:07 Cincinnati Bublaboo(star TV) was copied version of 1972 masterpiece British sitcom "Are you being served" which used to air on Monday's @ 8pm (DD -1980's) sadly Anant didn't mentioned or given any credit to the original🙄

Ananth Mahadevan should pity indie filmmakers like me who struggle by making short films just to find a toehold. We are not technically inferior but lack the financial support to present our potential works.

I also watched ghunghat ke pat khol on DD metro.lapata ladies actually copied it. That time short movies were telecasted on DD as Director's cut like hare kanch ki choorian, ghunghat ke pat khol and Rajeshwari's movie.these were truly superb. Now Kiran Rao is getting all credit. How unfair?? That's why Indian talented person loose hope.
