This episode was *roller coaster of emotions* and was very *heavy…* but I like how *Draken* always keeps *Mikey* in check!! I admire *Draken humbleness!*
7:25 IRL, a lot of these juvenile gangs were affiliated with the Yakuza and parents would often be too scared to set their kids straight. Look up the murder of Junko Furota who was tortured and sexually abused by juvenile delinquents at a boy's home and all the parents and adults who kind of knew what was going on were too scared to intervene. And the case was only solved by a fluke confession in an investigation for a different crime.
I just looked up the case now and what the fuck. The fact those people are living normal lives to this day while that poor girl suffered horribly till she died is shocking.

Tbh I understand the censorship but like bruh just put a statement in the beginning of the episode (kinda like how Invincible warns people about epilepsy) and just make the clarification and move on. If they continue to do this it might mess up some great moments.

The story takes place 12 years ago where there were a lot of biker gangs in japan, and the police didn't really do shit about them.
So, basically the symbol IS a swastika, but in western culture, due to Hitler's actions, its mostly known as a symbol of the horrific actions of the Nazi's and people relate it to the holocaust. On the east however, the swastika has been a symbol of good luck and wealth since ANCIENT times in many relgions, like Hinduism and Buddhism. If you go to a country like India, you'll see the Swastika symbol at almost EVERY hindu wedding, or if you go to China to a buddhist temple or something, you'd see the symbol on the walls or tapestries.
And that's why they adopted the symbol and "improved it" so that it would give them good luck and succeed in conquering the world... or fulfilling whatever goal they had.
Edit: Talking about the 3-rd reich, not about Toman.
Toman just adopted it without changing it, and the "Manji" in "Tokyo Manji Gank" apparently means swastika and is just the symbol itself.
There are actually two symbols that are mirror images of each other. There's the swastika, which is the one Hitler stole, and there's its mirror image, the sauwastika or "Manji" in Japan, which is the one used in Toman. So it's not actually even the same symbol.

7:30 To be fair, I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and most of my friends and I usually went around the city and partied with however many 14-18 were out from around the whole city. You could easily find a group of a thousand teenagers with no parental supervision crowding a mall, beach, party, the streets, etc. Especially around 2008-2014 in Los Angeles.
Also 10:40 a lot of my friends had tattoos spanning they whole arms/legs/chest/face/head/body between ages of 14-18. Parental consent isn't required when you go to another kid who's learning how to do tattoos, or somebody who doesn't give af or only does it in they house or something.
I might be wrong, but I thought Akkun meant that he did still push Takemichi but the fact Naoto saved him like he KNEW he was going to fall in front of the the tracks caused him to think that the only way he coulda saved him is if he already knew he was gonna get pushed down there in the first place tbh 👀🤔

I know it seems crazy that they are middle schoolers-high schoolers but back when motorcycle gangs were still a thing in Japan they were actually with the shiz. Arson, robbery, murder you name it. Bossozoku gangs were crime organizations despite their member's young age.

if you're talking about the buddishm one, it is a swastika symbol but the nazi's symbol isnt swastika, swastika is the original symbol here, the nazi just took the concept and rotate it slightly. swastika is not only use in buddishm but also hinduism.

Facts throughout the entire anime you never see their parents besides hina’s
The Swastiska looking symbol was also censored in Bleach and Naruto. In the manga, its very clear that Ichigo's fullbring manifests into the same symbol. They also had to change the hilt of his bankai because of this. And in Naruto, the seal Neji and the other male Branch family members of the Hyuga had was also this symbol. It's originally from Buddhist culture if I'm remembering correctly and then the Nazi's bastardized it.
Hindu, Buddhist, even European culture have used the Swastika for a long time. The word "Swastika" itself comes from Sanskrit in India.

Check out a documentary about Biker Gangs in Japan from 1970s to early 2000s. They were the real deal. All kids, 16-17 in age and actually killed members of other gangs. Everything shown actually happened back then.

This anime's time period is during the end of Showa(1926~1989) threw Heisei period(1989~2019).
And especially during Showa period in Japan was pretty ruff. Teens riding on bikes, committing crimes was in common back then.
If this was 12 years in to the past in the year 2005, that would mean this is in the Heisei Era.

I did see a video on RUclips of them asking Japanese people about it and most of the younger generations didn’t even connect it with nazis. Seemed like a lot of the older generation knew it as both the nazi symbol and what it used to be.

The "swastika" is a Hindu symbol appropriated by the Hitler and is part of a pair. He took the right facing swastika symbol and rotated it slightly. The other symbol faces to the left and is called the sauwastika or "Manji" in Japan. Hence the name "Tokyo Manji Gang."
