I think people forget that Mikey and Draken liked Takemitchy because he reminded them of Shinichiro. They stated specifically that Shinichiro couldn’t fight but he was respected by stronger fighters because he had heart and stood by a code. It’s not about the fighting skills it’s about having heart. Takemitchy is a real take on the average person.

nah bro blame the directing, in both manga, and specially anime, when shit's going down we get too much time with Takemichi just screaming shit and not taking action. The show needs to show us why he isn't helping Mikey in this episode for example, put like two dudes on top of him beating his ass, and I won't blame him for not being able to get out of that situation, since he isn't a fighter, BUT if all we get its him spectating and screaming ''MIKEEEY-KUUUN'' this shit feels lame. We atleast see Draken trying to get in, but couldn't, none gives him shit for that, but with Takemichi it looks like he isn't even trying.
Too much people get on their highhorse thinking this series is deep because they have a weak protagonist, just to ignore the fact that the action and drama scenes feel so scripted and fake sometimes that it takes you out the world and breaks the inmersion, so you have to make up excuses for the characters to make it make sense. I've read the entire manga and this is a recurring problem.

@@RabidDogma Nah Draken tried and got stopped and he is the closest to Mikey's location. Smiley is behind with other Toman's big guns and most of them are surrounded by Vahalla guys. Takemichi and 2nd division are close to Draken location and therefore are also close to Mikey's. The others members motivated by Takemichi are still fighting but Takemichi right now is doing nothing except watching that is messed up.
And here the biggest problem here. If Takemichi is supposed to be the one who stop Mikey from Killing Kazutora, then that means he will move his a$$ to stop Mikey when that is going to happen, despite the enemy being near him and Mikey being the one he'll try to stop. Therefore he has no excuses foe standing there.
Kazutora was having a whole manic episode. When he said "i suffered because of you", he's probably talking about his abusive dad but his mind was clouded by the false image that mikey is his enemy.

That's facts. He has a similar barrier to Killua when it comes to fighting. Illumi manipulated Killua into thinking he shouldn't fight anyone strong, because Killua's self worth was so low. Similar to Takemichi. His self worth is so low, that he feels like he can't do anything. And when he finally does break through the mental side of things, his physical stats are abysmal. What he needs to do is work out and figure out how to fight, but with so much stuff going on, he doesn't have much time to do that

I don't wanna be that guy but writers who can't keep from powerscaling their own story ruin it for me. Mikey should've died. Plot armor in stories is fine but we had already established head trauma and weapons in this series is a serious threat so to see him take all those hits to the head was kinda dumb and breaks immersion. I couldn't even find it bad ass when he broke out of that cause he does some more inhuman stuff by kicking that guy with another guy on that same leg. I hope this is a one time thing with the story cause before lately this has been one of my favorite anime

Takemitchy being mentally 26 means JACKSHIT lmao. He has always been wimpy and pathetic but the premise of this series is him actually trying to change that. Even when he was the self-proclaimed leader of his little Delinquent friend group he had 0 fighting experience. You expect him to suddenly become a badass fighter but also forget that he has literally no time to train because hes busy time-traveling to resolve murder mysteries.
I mean it wouldn’t really matter though because takemitchi’s main goal was to save baji he didn’t even know that was gonna happen to Mikey so what could a half beaten up and tired takemitchi do with a man with a pipe in his hand and ex convicts.
Yup and Takemichi is both weak and tired (barely standing). If he were to try and stop Kazutora now, Kazu would surely kill him.

Don't you get the context of the debate? The comment was made before the episode where Baji dies and when Mikey tried to kill Kazutora. In this episode , the complains were that Takemitchy stood up and just watched Mikey getting jumped and beat up instead of going to help, he was the only one not in a fight. People justified that by saying that Takemitchy is weak and he already got beat up bad. My point was that to save Kazutora and Baji he will move his a$$, despite his weaken state and the guy in will go against to get the job done, which is what he did in the next. Therefore he had no excuse for standing there like an idiot.

I'm sure if the haters were in Takemitchi's position, they would be just as scared and would be like "How do I do this? How can I save this person?" and so on. Sure, there might be SOME people who could probably do a better job than Takemichi, but most of us (including the haters) would totally be afraid and confused on what to do. Maybe not so much on what to do but HOW to do it. But since it's an anime and not real life, we can't really plan out how we'd do it because we're never gonna be in a situation like this, we can only imagine it. But I think you already know that nothing ever goes like how we imagine, things always play out differently than we expect. Plus, these are all fake characters who don't exist so people are basically getting mad at nothing lol. I'm just here to have a good time and not get all serious about some non-existent dude who can't fight.

What don't you understand? Years of physical, emotional, and mental abuse have driven Kazutora into a full mental break. Of course it doesn't make sense, Kazutora is INSANE. Holy shit, how do people not get that?
Here's another thing it seems like everyone missed - that flashback Kazutora had with Mikey? THAT'S WHY HE'S SAYING "It's Mikey's fault."
Mikey: "I own you. All of your pain and suffering belongs to me." THAT'S WHY KAZUTORA IS SAYING THAT. Mikey took responsibility for ALL of Kazu's pain and suffering. That includes being sent to juvie - so in Kazu's broken and warped mind that also means that now Mikey is responsible for even what HE did to Shinichiro. It's Mikey's way of coping with the trauma of killing a family member of the person he loves more than anything in the world. It's a pure mental break born from incredible trauma.

Yall expecting a lot from a guy in a 13-year-olds body trying to fight guys that are 16 and have X10 more gang/fighting experience, let me add the fact that Takemitchy doesn't know what happens leading up to Baji getting killed by Kazutora and then Mikey killing Kazutora in the end. That's the one part of Takemitchy's time travel abilities that really fucks things up, the fact that he is only able to see the beginning and the end but not the middle. Also instead of talking about Takemitchy, what about Drakken? He was fending off Valhalla and couldn't reach Mikey either even though he was right there. Also, let's mention that telling these guys that he can time leap with only 2 substantial pieces of evidence won't help, nor is trying to tell them indirectly what will happen to them help either, he has done this many times Sheera (rooftop scene with Mikey, Moebius meetup arc, Valhalla arc.) he literally told Baji he would die and with the Moebius arc he literally told them they can't fight and that he can't say why. Drakken was the only one that actually rethought about it while the others blatantly shut it down.
To make this part of defending Takemitchy 101 pretty short. Him learning how to fight will waste his time, what would you prefer? Becoming stronger but not knowing if an important event is happening or whats going to happen in the future therefore having a key character die simply because he wasn't there, or would you rather him be weak but know when someones ging to die and where it happens?

y’all saying that he should know how to fight since he is older than everyone else as if that’s easy from having bad experience from back in the day. kids like that would bully and beat up kids like takemichi which also caused ptsd. it’s not like getting beaten up is/was training for him or anything bruh.
while i do get that it’s frustrating that takemichi can’t throw hands, imo he’s mentally really strong considering how complicated and twisted everything is. and i think they’re portraying that really well in the story too (naoto "slowly" acknowledging him, him always remembering his goal and fighting for it even though he knows he doesn’t stand a chance against his opponents - he still tries).

Being able to suddenly kick people's ass, and at least trying to are two completely different things. Until this episode he didn't even try, or he would for a tiny second and then go right back to being too scared to fight. People can call it whatever they want but it's poor writing, he went from taking a knife in the hand to being scared to fight a regular dude.

People call it poor writing because it's too close to real life, he still has the same problems he had since the start of the show and the only difference he trying to change(changes can take years, but he has the speedrun it because lives are on the line).
@@dohalimilqarasdeldemenanci8483 the problem I have with Takemitchy is the fact that he dosent try to get stronger. He’s not in a super overpowered verse with people destroying planets. All he needs to do is martial arts training and he can be one of the strongest and his goal would be so much easier. Instead every time he fights he is getting abused. Even the fight that he won he got fucked up badly against someone who wasn’t that strong.

Yeah it's nice seeing him defend Takemichi. But I also completely understand people's frustration with him. He's the only one that knows the events yet the anime lingers on his face for sooooo long each episode it's actually really fucking annoying to sit through. While I binged the season I also understood and respected Takemichi for who he is, just like Roshi. But at the same time I can't blame anyone for getting mad at all. It's like the anime purposely shoves him doing nothing in your face, and seeing it over and over again is exhausting. By this ep I also yelled at my screen. sorry not sorry. I understand both sides.

and thats what happen when the mc didn’t have superpower like goku, naruto etc. he just a soft dude who never win a fight in his original life (before time-leap), he can’t consistently beat the shit out of everyone when his enemies are not hesitant to killed someone, even another toman’s member is begging for mercy and he said “we’re not strong like mikey and you draken”. his enemies are stronger than y’all think.
also the reason why he can’t go help mikey because there’s a LOT of people in front of him for example draken, he wants to go save mikey but hanma immediately punching him to the ground. its not easy to slip through 300 enemies.
another point that i just realized, why would takemichi wasting his stamina to climb up to mikey when he saw a glimpse of baji laying (get killed) on the ground.
Plus this situation is not like the other shounen animes with the power of friendship they got power up or etc , it's more realistic life situation .

You can't easily punch people and knock the opponents down if you're not 'built' strong as a street fighter or at least if you're trained. I guess wakui is being real with writing takemichi. He's weak, he never used to a real fight, there's no way he can suddenly knock these real delinquents down; but his determination somehow able to change the members' mentality within the fight and get them to fight back. Woah I didn’t expect so much arguing here. I understand the frustration, but I’m with Roshi on this one. Takemichi is trying to stop Mikey from killing due to Baji dying so I’m assuming his goal is first to prevent Baji from dying. There are tons of people coming at him so obviously it’s going to be extremely hard to find Baji let alone try to help Mikey. Mikey is strong enough to protect himself and if he can’t, what can Takemichi even do? If some random person told me before a fight that I’m going to die, I wouldn’t believe it. Obviously dying and seeing others get killed is a possibility going into a fight. Takemichi's only strength is not giving up, but I got to say he could have planned better. He always looks extremely lost, but as a main character his actions don’t bother me.

Exactly! Takemichy is the heart of Mikey while Mikey is the strength for Takemichi. They're each filling in what they lack. Especially in the manga if you've read it. Mikey needs Takemichi as much as Takemichy needs Mikey. Coming from someone who was an anime-only and started reading the manga - Takemichi's strength will never lie in beating people up. He's not like Mikey or Draken, but he is strong in his own way. He showed some of that off in this episode.
One thing that I noticed. Is that maybe that was supposed to happen and Takemitchy was just waiting for the right time to stop Mikey. Because Takemichy boosting everyone's morale, had nothing to do with Mikey's fight with Kazutora, meaning if he wasn't there, the rest of Toman would lose to Valhalla. But Mikey, would still fight Kazutora by himself. Long story short, I think regardless of Takemitchy being there, Mikey would have been beaten in the head with the pipe anyway.
Need to understand that Takemichy was never a delinquent. Fighting for a gang is so new to him
Hats off to Roshi for understanding Takemitchy, there are many times I am also frustrated at Takemitchy, but honestly the guy is so durable, I'd probably gone down after the first punch. There was nothing substantial he could have done at this point. I think people forget that despite Takemitchy knowing the future, he only knows the result of future, not exactly the sequence of actions that led up to that point, so he is also blind-sided on situations like this.

He sucked at the beginning of the show, and he's had no time to train because he keeps jumping back between the past (trying to stop a particular something from happening) and in the future (in order to find out what he has to stop or change in the past).

He's not going to magically start fighting and destroying ppl-. we've seen since the start he can take hits and hold his ground but just can't fight. I know it's stressful seeing him not fight well but that's just how it is. the story would be less interesting if he was like draken and mikey fighting wise

It's annoying when people blame Takimichy, what could he literally do here to stop Mikey from killing Kazutora? Remember he is only supposed to save Baji from dying this time around. If he was to tell everyone the truth then that could alter the future for the worse (we already know Kisuke knows Takimitchy can time travel based on the clues as Akkun knew and he is Kisuke's dog in the future). Them knowing about the future doesn't mean they will make the move to change it. Also, I don't think anyone would believe Takimitchy if he was to say the truth anyways, his objective is to save Baji from dying because he thought that would be the thing to make Mikey kill Kazutora. I don't think he knew Mikey would see red and go to kill Kazutora without Baji being there.

There's big issues with all of that. He's not realistic in any way. 1. Like you said yourself He's watched the person he loves die over and over again, this give him an insane amount of mental fortitude since she's actually dying not just getting punched.
2. It's understandable if he's weak, but no he is not trying his best. He just freezes there and doesn't do anything, trying your best implies he's actually doing something.
3. His character development goes 1 step forward and 3 steps back. He learns what he has to do and he resolves himself to do it and then completely goes back to just being scared and crying even though someone's life he cares about is in danger.
4. Everyone I see defending takemitchy talks like they have no idea what this kind of situation is like in real life, not the time traveling obviously, but the fights and the gangs. As someone that has been in fights and around gangs since childhood, yes you're scared to fight like the other character said but you don't let that hold you back.

If you look at it like this. Mikey and draken have had 15 years of being total badass since conception.
Takemitchy has had 26 years of being a cry baby loser who runs from every fight. A lot of that mentality has been instil into all the way into adulthood. Peeps get angry at him but even his 14 yearold self has no real battle hardening and he’s already working with a terrible instincts that have been withering for 12 years.
I’d say takemitchy definitely got guts thanks to his second chance and drive for his revenge. He’s one of those MC that needs to alter the course of history with a different type of strength. Of character and persistence.

He’s obviously not gonna be all that great in his first couple genuine fist fights, he was even able to put kiyomasa in a headlock earlier on, so he’s definitely learning.

@@roanlibby8657 well I wouldn’t say he was able to fight pretty well I mean he had to resort to biting, and was really only able to headlock kiyomasa because it was 1v1 and it allowed him room and time to be more tactical. This situation requires full physical endurance and focus fighting multiple delinquents similar to that of kiyomasa all at once. So I would say him being able to stand his ground and fight a bit this time around is a step up in the heat of a 150v300 brawl.
@@eetsua thats the best point ive actually gotten all day and thanks for not being toxic. you also have to admit takemitchi in that situation was kind of wits end and bleeding. with a future fight he proves that he actually can move pretty fast at wits end and injured also with some pretty good technique. it might be because it was later in the series and hes learned from the amount of horrific ass beatings hes gotten that he should fight back. your pretty much right about what you said as the situation might have been overwhelming and its surprising he actually got somebody so i guess thats good. id still like to see him kick some no name ass in the future but i guess hell just be him

But to be honest, even though one may say they will do this that way if they time traveled is almost something uncertain. We may say that but people cower in fear, of course if someone beat tf fuck outta me I'd go down swinging, at least I hope I do if I don't freeze or get knocked out but you guys need to understand that Takemichi is a character who portrays a normal response.
His whole battle has been about him attempting to change but a person can't change overnight, a person can't get over their fears overnight. Just because they show bravery once doesn't mean they will again. Changing is something that requires years, lots of mental strength, and perseverance but the path to changing is one where it goes back and forth, back and forth. He is literally forcing himself to change but changing instantly is impossible that's being human.
There is only so much Takemitchy can do, he is alone for now at least. You can't just go up to someone and tell them you know the future, they'll call you crazy. And even if you say, "I can't tell you why" also makes you sus and its risky especially since these are gangs we're dealing with and we've seen how violent some of them are; they might think you're a spy or whatnot and beat tf out of you. Hell, some might even believe that craziness but there is always doubt as the future is something uncertain.
Furthermore, about him going to help Mikey or just fight is well...first of all, he couldn't go help Mikey. Knowing he cant fight for the life of him he would have been stopped and he was literally in the middle if a fight himself. As for him to at least learn how to fight, I commented this on another comment--he just doesn't have the time. He is busy investigating the past to get information to Naoto in the future, and trying to put bits of pieces here and there (which he doesn't do a very good job of) but he can't just simply go and learn how to fight, even when he goes back to the future he is also investigating with Naoto. Plus, fighting is the least of his worries as he has to protect people whose lives are on the line but yes he would be able to do so much better if he could fight. But he can't so all he has is his sorry self to rely on which isn't the best but there is nothing he can do about it, I mean all he has to rely on is his resolve, that honestly is what keeps him alive.
Its frustrating I know! Weakness is frustrating and irritating, Takemitchy knows that better than anyone else. But he isn't some OP character with awesome powers that can handle everything himself. He isn't like Mikey or Draken or anyone in the gang who have been fighting for so long they have experience, so I hope you can just see that Takemichi is just someone who can't really just get up and fight, but I will say this, as he grows more, he starts to become less frustrating.

i don’t think it would’ve been impossible to stop the beating on Mikey risky but not impossible but i think the situation is what doesn’t call for a “risky” take because risky chances can either fail or actually work and that 50/50 chance would’ve blew up if taken, if takemitchy were to actually do something depending on what he would’ve done it could’ve either went really well or really fucked so i actually kinda understand because it all starts with him.

@@beaststealth8257 thanks man i i appreciate that at first I was thinking the same thing sheera was because I kinda don’t really like takemitchy and thought he should’ve been doing something too but then I noticed that nobody just looked at the situation looked at the openings he got the chances he has and a pretty good risk to take if he was smart about it that could’ve went well and ur absolutely right about him becoming a target because if he happened to get at least one guy off Mikey?? he would’ve became valhallas target at that point but it would’ve created a big diversion because now the attention would be on him and that’s where it’s risky because this man won’t be able to handle anything that comes after that especially if they start targeting him
