A jeweller can’t tell a lab diamond by looking at it. They’ll have to send the diamond to a specialised lab to run tests before they can determine its origin. Also, like many natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds come certified. The GIA now issues certificates for lab grown just like they do with mined diamonds. The only way a jeweller would be able to tell by looking with a loupe at a diamond if it’s lab grown, is if the diamond itself is inscribed with the manufacturer’s name. @@DerrickDJ I work in a lab and another way we tests these diamonds is through spectroscopy, and it has to do with the cut as well. I see from both sides to the problem with lab grown diamonds--De Beers is threatened by this so in turn then still want to control the monopoly and dictate the diamond market. They even opened up Lightbox which essentially caters to millenials. I hate to admit this is great marketing as well for a line that is much more affordable. Thinking about this last night there is a chance De Beers may even try to regulate independent labs and buy them all out just so that natural diamonds can still have value.
Another thought is if I have time I will show a lab grown diamond next to an earth made diamond. You can see both have same specifications,1.2 carat, F color, excellent cut(symmetry and polish), true hearts,VSII clarity. In UV light it is obvious the man made diamond was created and perfected without flaws. The natural grown diamond is also perfect but you can tell there a few light leaks where the most optimal light performance is not there, and also see some small inclusions that is not viewable to human eye. The symmetry of the lab grown diamond is synthetic and can bother one if you pay close attention, but who in their mind would glue their eye at a woman's ring? This would be bery rude
if you want a lab created diamond for ethical reasons it's perfect just beware that most jewelry stores that sell you a lab created diamond will not accept it back as a return as a trading as an upgrade you are stuck with it even pawn shops will not accept a lab created diamond and yes there are ways to tell lab created diamond from natural diamonds.

I believe it is the law in the U S that you have to identify lab grown diamonds as such. This video was made two years ago and although brick and mortar jewelry stores are coming to the lab grown sales arena slowly they are getting there. I know of at least one well respected jewelry store in my area whose management admits that while they used to only sell earth mined diamonds they now sell more lab grown diamonds than earth mined. They are still a beautifully furnished, very well respected jewelry store with awesome service but they had to change their business model to fit the reality that while there are still some who want only earth mined diamonds there are millions of others who want an equally beautiful genuine diamond at a far lower price than the earth mined diamond would cost.
Have u ever tried to pawn something? They would offer u 1/3 of the what they would sell it for. Buying a synthetic diamond would save you 20-40% of a real diamond. So youre already at a loss

Diamonds aren't scarce unless it's extremely unique 🤷.If you are spending 2k buy a lab, or be smart and buy a rarer gem that will go up in value when people get sick of diamonds since it's becoming too trendy/normal and losing its rarity factor. Just look at rappers, they single handedly ruined how fake "rare" diamonds actually are since all of them have massive chains
diamonds are not rare . they are just not available to the public . 95% of diamonds on earth are in vaults . the same as gold . it is a manufactured market .
Everybody here talking CRAP. 1. SAYING DIAMONDS AINT RARE This might be true but must be put into context diamonds are not rare gold is much rarer BUT high quality Big Diamonds are VERY RARE. 2. LAB DIAMONDS HOLD LITTLE VALUE Just because it has similar properties as natural diamonds dont mean it will hold value as the natural diamonds. A Man lade diamond can be produced in weeks with very little human labor .. its price will represent the labor .. This is why Earth Grown diamonds will HOLD MUCH more value over time because 1 its rare and 2 it takes a lot of work. 3. THERE ARE WAYS TO TEST LAB GROWN "REAL DIAMONDS" This right here officially buried lab grown diamonds value. it means when u take it to the jeweler they can test and know its not NATURAL. These lab grown diamonds will soon go the way of CZ and become cheap and super abundant. 4. YOU CANNOT BEAT NATURE No matter what humans try anything made via nature will always hold more value than man made! Grass fed meat is more valuable than factory meat. Natural pearls are more valuable than man made pearls .. so on and so on!
Natural diamonds arent valuable. If you buy a diamond and try to sell it back you will see the diamond lost almost half of it's value. Diamonds are only valuable to regular people who look at them. A lab made diamond would look the same and still seem as valuable for a way cheaper price.

Why they just dont say how you test the diffrence for the people who wants earth diamond
The "value" comes from the monopoly that has been held on diamonds for decades. If the diamond industry was not worried about the "value and authenticity" of the product, why are they spending millions on the marketing of "Buy A Natural Diamond".
Awesome video
Your mother-in-law would need a gem spectrometer to "find you out."
My prayers have been answered my wife is about to look like a rapper from the early 2000s now.
Wow, i cant believe this. Am i about to be iced tf out for the low?
lmfao
2950 for one carat man made? What's the big savings there?
1carat Natural diamond is 6-8k
Nice
Save the earth and go for Lab diamonds!
My wife is going to kill me when she finds out that nice 2 carat synthetic diamond ring I just bought for her for $6000, will be worth $200 in a few years. I am such a loser.
//nervous laughter bc I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic
we would like to invest a million or more in your companies and technologies..
thanks

I'm from Indonesia and I have natural diamonds, I want to sell them, thanks
Diamond are NOT rare. Ever hear of a diamond shortage? No. I don't care for diamond, but I am purchasing a Man made diamond for my fiancee because they are MUCH Cheaper.
Derrick Johnson yeah why waste the money on the same darn thing?! Good thinking
Essentially it is like buying a bag(Hermes) and buying a fake, your wife will know but with a ring it is hard to tell.
@@KaleHello not quite the same, however I see where you are going. you can't tell the different, because they are the same. Both are diamonds. There are 2 differences, one is mined and one is grown in a lab. 2nd difference is Lab grown has a serial # that tells you it's lab grown, without that serial # no one can tell.
To be honest I can't see how you prefer one thing when the other is just the same
is this david spade featuring diamonds? lol
Natural wins that’s what makes diamond special. If you can just make it then what’s the value of that….
if you want a lab created diamond for ethical reasons it's perfect just beware that most jewelry stores that sell you a lab created diamond will not accept it back as a return as a trading as an upgrade you are stuck with it even pawn shops will not accept a lab created diamond and yes there are ways to tell lab created diamond from natural diamonds.
I think I can live quiet easy knowing that as my 3 carat LG diamond ring was only $17.99 💍
They can't be told apart, it is impossible not even geologists can
It’s not the same the fake diamond looks like window glass and it can crack or fracture more easily in cold/hot weather due to the frailty occurring from not being sealed properly with a higher heat quality.
False.
You’re completely wrong. Lab grown diamonds are in fact chemically identical to mined diamonds. This means they are as durable as each other and they are the same in every way except for where they come from.
I have a lot of diamonds.im going to start getting lab grown diamonds.they worth money for the dealer.no one can sell a diamond ring off the street and get the money back.my advise is get the lab diamond. No one cares.people are cheap like me but want big for cheap.resale on natural diamonds are garbage anyway.I would give to my kids before I sell

😂😂
I hate those lab made diamonds.! I wish they were illegal to make. They are horrible.! They will depreciate the value of diamonds in the future. Ijs🤷🏼♀️ it always kills me when ppl call them simulated diamonds and get mad when u call them lab diamonds..🙄🙄🙄🙄 great video though
No more conflict diamonds...
so I can buy a lab-grown diamond and sell it a pawn shop for more
bro thats the thing im wondering about too lmao
they know because of the grading
Have u ever tried to pawn something? They would offer u 1/3 of the what they would sell it for. Buying a synthetic diamond would save you 20-40% of a real diamond. So youre already at a loss
My $4500 engagement ring...I was offered $200 for. Even if it was a man made diamond I would have lost money on it
Its all in your head. Why waste the money. Its just a look. Has no use.
From the earth not a lab?
The old guy sounds really shakey within his voice.
Diamond Part Starts @ 00:02:15 - Ends @ 00:06:08. I set it to start there. ruclips.net/video/o-TFz6teM3M/видео.html *****YOU'VE BEEN BRAINWASHED*****
Actually All yes it does have a difference it's rarity . Just that word alone should get people to understand. I'm not buying meth I'm buying weed get it?
I'm going to flip if he says CVD/HPHT one more time....
There was a diamond glut this year... buy lab diamonds.
Invest in gold. Gold is king.
TheBagBalm gold is money, everything else is credit
Dimond is valuable by itself created over thousands of years but why De Beers should have monopoly for sth that nature has created not them. They should give back to society much more and treat workers sooo much better. There is a science behind the stones and many other molecules. Stones have a memory of what they have gone through. There is a study over water drops that have a memory of every place they have been . Search it on RUclips.
I'm surprised that the sapphire and diamond ring Charles gave to Diana hasn't come in between William and Kate.
Why buy diamonds which have no real value. Buy gold or silver some thing that has value.
He looks like jackcepticeye
he prefers to see kids dying to make them more money . greed greed greed .
Lab grown diamonds are the BEST!!!! People saying that natural diamonds are better are just repeating brainwashing propaganda made by diamond companies so they can keep up their high prices. Think people!!
I completely agree.
Natural diamonds hold their value in time
the value of a natural diamond will always goes up
Try selling your diamonds. Let's see if the value appreciated
i prefer natural diamonds just of the thought of those little black africans spilled their blood all over them
Just buy gold. No making that in a lab.
damn straight! imagine the price of gold if man could grow it in a lab.
diamonds are not rare . they are just not available to the public . 95% of diamonds on earth are in vaults . the same as gold . it is a manufactured market .
Everybody here talking CRAP.
1. SAYING DIAMONDS AINT RARE
This might be true but must be put into context diamonds are not rare gold is much rarer BUT high quality Big Diamonds are VERY RARE.
2. LAB DIAMONDS HOLD LITTLE VALUE
Just because it has similar properties as natural diamonds dont mean it will hold value as the natural diamonds. A Man lade diamond can be produced in weeks with very little human labor .. its price will represent the labor .. This is why Earth Grown diamonds will HOLD MUCH more value over time because 1 its rare and 2 it takes a lot of work.
3. THERE ARE WAYS TO TEST LAB GROWN "REAL DIAMONDS"
This right here officially buried lab grown diamonds value. it means when u take it to the jeweler they can test and know its not NATURAL. These lab grown diamonds will soon go the way of CZ and become cheap and super abundant.
4. YOU CANNOT BEAT NATURE
No matter what humans try anything made via nature will always hold more value than man made!
@@Brooklyn100NY You learned from HALF TRUTHS! Natural Diamonds are very valuable that is why the Queen of England keep billions worth that is why China is buying up all the high quality stones .. The reason you think natural diamonds are worthless is because the type popularly sold by jewelry shops are VERY SMALL & LOW QUALITY. Only big high quality Stones hold value especially solitaire! If you carry a half cart or UP! VS NATURAL Stone to a jewelry shop they will buy it from you. LAB DIAMONDS have lost half its value already... why? because its man made and can be easily produced also there are now Machines to prove what is man made diamonds to earth mind... most Pawn shops or jewelry shops DONT WANT MAN MADE DIAMONDS! your lucky to even get 1/4 of what it worth! You need some deeper research to understand!
@@IllPayne If you're buying specific diamonds for resale value that might be true, but most people buy diamonds for engagement rings. The queen of england isn't a regular person is she? These lab made diamonds are higher quality than diamonds sold at stores and cheaper. If I took that same money and bought a diamond from a jewler I would get a smaller and lower quality diamond and if I ever decided to sell it I wouldn't be able to dream of breaking even. So for what purpose would I buy a natural one?
@@Brooklyn100NY If you buy a high quality natural diamond it will repay you in the future if you buy a high quality lab diamond in the future you will be lucky to get 100$ for it. Natural diamonds can be a store of wealth Lab made diamonds ARE NOT AND WOULD NOT! .. if you just want the look and a cheap diamond tester to buzz off go right ahead for the lab made
@@Brooklyn100NY Only the buyer will know that it is natural made. Those who buy lab grown are just looking for an alternative to get to the level of those who can afford a natural grown. Look at it like this, chanel bags, those who cannot afford it will look at alternative such as another brand similar to get a bag similar but in no way does it compare to the branded item.
Aberdeen
They’re all lab grown

Blood diamonds ♦️ lol
Lmaooo at his statement "diamonds will hold their value over time better" what a joke, no they do not hold their value they are very common rocks/gems, even lab grown diamonds are overprice, the only ones that will hold value are the gigantic ones that are very rare, but just the. 0001% of people can afford.
They make diamonds now. End of story. They are not “rare” any more
Natural diamonds are a shit investment now. Their value will always be compared and tied down to a lab grown diamond now. The cheaper lab grown diamonds get, the worse it’ll be for natural diamonds.
Diamonds are ridiculous - why should a man be expected to save up to buy a woman something completely useless?! You can’t live in, drive, eat a diamond, and the temporary “happiness” it brings you is outweighed by the misery of the lack of money. Told my husband to save his money, we skipped the huge overpriced party AKA wedding, and put all that money toward the house. 12 years and 2 kids later, we’re working part-time and spending our weekends swinging in the hammock in the backyard of our paid-in-full house. Live your life for you, not what society thinks is popular
