this is like automatic watch and quartz watch. actually it's simple, natural diamond is not pure, there is some dirt in it. mostly is not visible while grown diamond clean. so aesthetically grown diamond looks better, but if you want a natural diamond you go with want with little "stain"
diamond used to be created from a boulder of diamond. only the parts with the best clarity make it into production. but now since there are grown diamond, make the dirty part of diamond boulder will make it into production. this is the best way to differentiate between grown and natural ones
but, it won't look as beautiful as it used to. because grown diamond looks even better than natural diamond used to
in the future there will not be much talk about natural or grown diamond. it will be just diamond.
that's why debeers is fighting over patent for growing diamond, for monopoly like it has been doing. they mock grown diamond before the win the patent, the will fix this grown diamond after they win the patent

A jeweller can’t tell a lab diamond by looking at it. They’ll have to send the diamond to a specialised lab to run tests before they can determine its origin. Also, like many natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds come certified. The GIA now issues certificates for lab grown just like they do with mined diamonds. The only way a jeweller would be able to tell by looking with a loupe at a diamond if it’s lab grown, is if the diamond itself is inscribed with the manufacturer’s name. A practice which is being adopted by some diamond manufacturers to make it easier to distinguish mined from lab grown diamonds without going through external lab tests.

There are 2 differences, one is mined and one is grown in a lab. 2nd difference is Lab grown has a serial # that tells you it's lab grown, without that serial # no one can tell.

@@DerrickDJ I work in a lab and another way we tests these diamonds is through spectroscopy, and it has to do with the cut as well. I see from both sides to the problem with lab grown diamonds--De Beers is threatened by this so in turn then still want to control the monopoly and dictate the diamond market. They even opened up Lightbox which essentially caters to millenials. I hate to admit this is great marketing as well for a line that is much more affordable. Thinking about this last night there is a chance De Beers may even try to regulate independent labs and buy them all out just so that natural diamonds can still have value.

Another thought is if I have time I will show a lab grown diamond next to an earth made diamond. You can see both have same specifications,1.2 carat, F color, excellent cut(symmetry and polish), true hearts,VSII clarity. In UV light it is obvious the man made diamond was created and perfected without flaws. The natural grown diamond is also perfect but you can tell there a few light leaks where the most optimal light performance is not there, and also see some small inclusions that is not viewable to human eye. The symmetry of the lab grown diamond is synthetic and can bother one if you pay close attention, but who in their mind would glue their eye at a woman's ring? This would be bery rude

I believe it is the law in the U S that you have to identify lab grown diamonds as such. This video was made two years ago and although brick and mortar jewelry stores are coming to the lab grown sales arena slowly they are getting there. I know of at least one well respected jewelry store in my area whose management admits that while they used to only sell earth mined diamonds they now sell more lab grown diamonds than earth mined. They are still a beautifully furnished, very well respected jewelry store with awesome service but they had to change their business model to fit the reality that while there are still some who want only earth mined diamonds there are millions of others who want an equally beautiful genuine diamond at a far lower price than the earth mined diamond would cost.

    Everybody here talking CRAP.
    1. SAYING DIAMONDS AINT RARE
This might be true but must be put into context diamonds are not rare gold is much rarer BUT high quality Big Diamonds are VERY RARE.
    2. LAB DIAMONDS HOLD LITTLE VALUE
Just because it has similar properties as natural diamonds dont mean it will hold value as the natural diamonds. A Man lade diamond can be produced in weeks with very little human labor .. its price will represent the labor .. This is why Earth Grown diamonds will HOLD MUCH more value over time because 1 its rare and 2 it takes a lot of work.
    3. THERE ARE WAYS TO TEST LAB GROWN "REAL DIAMONDS"
This right here officially buried lab grown diamonds value. it means when u take it to the jeweler they can test and know its not NATURAL. These lab grown diamonds will soon go the way of CZ and become cheap and super abundant.
    4. YOU CANNOT BEAT NATURE
No matter what humans try anything made via nature will always hold more value than man made! Grass fed meat is more valuable than factory meat. Natural pearls are more valuable than man made pearls .. so on and so on!

Natural diamonds arent valuable. If you buy a diamond and try to sell it back you will see the diamond lost almost half of it's value. Diamonds are only valuable to regular people who look at them. A lab made diamond would look the same and still seem as valuable for a way cheaper price.

Natural Diamonds are very valuable that is why the Queen of England keep billions worth that is why China is buying up all the high quality stones .. The reason you think natural diamonds are worthless is because the type popularly sold by jewelry shops are VERY SMALL & LOW QUALITY. Only big high quality Stones hold value especially solitaire! If you carry a half cart or UP! VS NATURAL Stone to a jewelry shop they will buy it from you. LAB DIAMONDS have lost half its value already... why? because its man made and can be easily produced also there are now Machines to prove what is man made diamonds to earth mind... most Pawn shops or jewelry shops DONT WANT MAN MADE DIAMONDS! your lucky to even get 1/4 of what it worth! These lab made diamonds are higher quality than diamonds sold at stores and cheaper. If I took that same money and bought a diamond from a jewler I would get a smaller and lower quality diamond and if I ever decided to sell it I wouldn't be able to dream of breaking even. So for what purpose would I buy a natural one?

Diamonds are ridiculous - why should a man be expected to save up to buy a woman something completely useless?! You can’t live in, drive, eat a diamond, and the temporary “happiness” it brings you is outweighed by the misery of the lack of money. Told my husband to save his money, we skipped the huge overpriced party AKA wedding, and put all that money toward the house. 12 years and 2 kids later, we’re working part-time and spending our weekends swinging in the hammock in the backyard of our paid-in-full house. Live your life for you, not what society thinks is popular
