Waiting for Guffman "I Love Corky"

Michael Hitchcock plays Steve Stark, City Councilman in "Waiting for Guffman". Hysterical portrayal of a very obviously repressed city councilman who is enamored with Corky St. Clair, an "artiste" newcomer to the bland town of Blaine, Missouri, who teaches drama and helps put on a mediocre play in hopes of fame and fortune.

The part at the end when he screams may be my favorite part of the entire movie, which is saying something. Between his high-pitched scream and the lady next to him cracking up, I can not stop laughing.

Michael was my teacher at “The Groundlings” On top of being hilarious, he’s a great teacher, always encouraging his students and creating a great atmosphere in the class. His character in this movie cracks me up 😂😂

I’ve heard they barely had enough footage to edit that scene and use it. When he slapped the guy’s head everyone on set burst out laughing. These films may have not been mainstream hits, but to me, some of the funniest films ever made. Instant classics.

In the DVD commentary, Guest said there was a possible alternate ending where Corky and the store owner ran off together to NYC. I think it would have been too much but possibly pretty funny

lol, yeah...the look he does after "Penny for Your Thoughts"...and then composes himself and starts clapping...shaking his head back and forth like he is blown away....soooo funny. His character is like John Tuturo in The Big Lebowski....very little screen time, but makes a huge impact on the film
