If you’re as nuts for this movie as I am get yourself to Lockhart, TX. I spent a couple of days there in 2013. Visited every building featured in the movie including the stairs to Corky’s house. Such a unique place to visit.
See I’m an actor trying to make it in Hollywood but I’m still very green and have a lot to learn but I love improv. These types of movies are honestly perfect for me. Not a lot of directors that will make you choose a character while also allowing you to be yourself a little. I love Christopher Guest he’s brought me so much joy.
We're talking about my life here... we're not talking about something else! I'm just going to make a clear cut and say "no way, corky, you're not putting up with these people." And I"ll tell you why I can't put up with you people; because you're bastard people! We love you, Corky!! We want you to liiiiive!!
I’ve seen this movie dozens of times. Each time I watch it I see another nuance I hadn’t noticed before. For instance, it occurs to me that “Corky” may be a little light in his loafers; if you know what I mean.
Huffman is a fine, fabulously funny movie. I can sing along with "Stool Boom" and "A Penny for your Thoughts" is just plain sweet; sometimes I even cry a little when I hear it.
Zazu Zazz Levy and O'Hara from Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario via Toronto Second City and SCTV. Now starring in the Canadian masterpiece Schitt's Creek, a CBC original.
Oh wow Corkys facial expressions. What's up with that? Penny For Your Thoughts, oh this movie is superb from start to finish. The scene where Corky talks about his experience off, off broadway is genius. A dance belt, and a tube of Chapstick. Say no more.😆😅🤣
People call Guest films mockumentaries. I disagree.Guest has been quoted as being hostile to those who take themselves too seriously.Look at the Hamiltons in Best in Show,Corky in Guffman and the folksmen in Mighty Wind. While he skewers pomposity,His stories and music are love letters to folk music, amateur theatre, etc. His movies, the actors, the music and comedy make each movie brilliant
Mockumentary is the style of film-a fake documentary. It IS a mock-documentary. Doesn't make anything of what you say any less true, just that mockumentary doesn't mean he's mocking people, just that it's not a real documentary.
Based on that comic book crap that won this year’s Oscar for best picture, add in Top Gun: Maverick, which had good flying sequences but cardboard cutouts as characters, a ludicrous story line, and a script as bad as a TV sitcom, and yet it topped $1 billion at the box office, and you’ll understand why I, a boomer, am dropping my streaming services - starting with MAX (formerly HBO Max but now owned by Warners/Discovery and therefore destined to be degraded to “family entertainment.” Next will be Amazon Prime, which started with all movies free, then they started charging to rent or buy the good ones, and now only their very worst are free. The kiss of death in any streaming channel is commercials, something I will never again tolerate. Both MAX and Prime are now offering them.p at reduced subscription fees. The next thing that happens will be commercials in all the movies, along with censoring out “offensive” language, which RUclips are already doing, and oh, yes, the subscription prices will go up too. As I predicted years ago, streaming media will be indistinguishable from cable TV as soon as they whittle down the number of competitors. The money I save on streaming services will be invested in a good Blu-Ray DVD player and the purchase of DVDs of dozens of my favorite films, like “Waiting for Guffman.” (I already own around 50.) And then I’ll really be able the cord to my TV. (But I’ll keep the internet service.)
Michael Hitchcock's tears during Penny For Your Thoughts are priceless
I love how the orchestra is really high quality and very tight.
EVERYBODY DANCE!
God, prime Christopher Guest was a gift.
Oh dear god. 🤣 🤣…
“everybody dansssse”.
I can’t even. 😂
Parker Posey jumping into Corky’s arms and those inappropriately high kicks crack me up
Councilman Stark was right. Johnny Savage would not have added anything to the show.
Arguably the greatest of all the Christopher Guest mockumentaries.
This is the best movie ever!
Scott Barbarito yes this movie brilliant
Yes this is
I begin every day with a You Tube trip to this "should have swept the Tonys" performance!@@notjacksonshaffer3357
This show is actually better than a few musicals I've seen on Broadway.
this is my favorite movie of all time. it's such an underrated gem
I've been a fan of this movie since it came out, and just today learned that the whole thing was improvised, as in there was no script.
All of the Christopher Guest movies are improvised.
97% of it unscripted and improvised. There is a loose script/outline. But almost all of the lines are made up on the spot.
@@mchur001 Funny cause the songs/dances in these clips are like some of the only parts of the movie that weren’t improvised lol
Because of Corky, anytime I'm at a wedding reception or some other gathering with dancing, I state for my own amusement, "Everybody dance".
YOU WILL DROOL. AT THE SPLENDOR OF THESE MAGIC STOOLS.
Stool Boom .... it still kills. After all these years it still has the same effect on me ... LMFAO!! THEY THE BEST.
I like Corky's hands, the swift perfection of the DIGITAL EXTENSION, at 01:55

You had me at the stairs to Corky's

How's your career going?
Michael Hitchcock's face just makes it all even better.

“CORKY!!! GOD I wish I was in the play!”
This is a classic. Brilliant!
How high a ridge I could not tell.
Such a great line. Only wish I could find a use for it in daily conversation.

Everybody dance.
Freaking awesome movie.
You got that right!
Guffman always makes me guffaw! Even everybody's comments below make me laugh. What a treat this movie is.
And that includes swimming!
A true American masterpiece done by American masters. 🪑
I'm seeing 2 Canadians on that stage!
Zazu Zazz
Levy and O'Hara from Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario via Toronto Second City and SCTV. Now starring in the Canadian masterpiece Schitt's Creek, a CBC original.
“Boring-boring-boring” Everyone on this stage is a comic genius!
Omg, THANK YOU!
Hahaha the dude with his arms out behind him like it's gonna make him faster, Parker Posey and all her random leaps. The choreography is hilarious 🤣🤣
I want to direct community theater it’s been my lifelong dream
And I would love people like these to show up but I can’t get anyone to!
😔

I didn't realize until now how straight Corky is.
Christopher Guest movies are gems.
Blane... the stool capital of the world.... hilarious
The perfect double feature would be guffman and napoleon dynamite
“Everybody danccce”
Makes me laugh every time!
funniest film of all time. boom!

My co-worker Blaine always gave me a blank stare when I called him Red White and Blaine. I never did explain it to him.
Hell School Musical
Parker Posey has a nice turnout.
And a surprisingly good grand battement!
Sure, this is great (Guffman would have loved it) but part of me wants to see a version of this with Johnny Savage and a $100,00 budget!
One of the funniest movies
So many Seinfeld guests in this gem. (I counted four)
Corkey!!!!!!

Too much!
