Good stuff! You have a lot of strength and patience and determination, all the right attributes.

I give a sign that I want him to give me his hoof, first I touch his chestnut on his front leg which tells him I want his hoof, if I want his leg forward, I tap his knee. On the backs I squeeze his hock. He’s pretty good for the most part, his rear left is always a bit of a battle. 👍✌️

Thanks so much for these videos - great resources! I will be building myself a set of stocks and training my Canadians to use them to make things easier and safer for my trimmer and myself.

That's a difficult job and a lot of hard work.

It’s easier once the horse is trained and just lifts their hoof.

@@drafthorseswithalexa Yes, I'm taking horsemanship lessons, basically limited to ground work, and I have to clean the feet at the start of every lesson. I'm not skilled at being sure of the structure of the hoof. My instructor criticizes me for being too slow, which is fine. Her advice is always solid. Why don't you do a video with a horse that willingly moves their hoof over to the rest on the stock? I would like to see that. I'm 80 and when I bend over, the blood rushes to my head, and I get fatigued easily. I have to rest between each foot. The hardest foot for me to lift and clean is the horse's right rear foot because I'm right handed and don't use the pick well in my left hand. I have to change hands after the leg is lifted. A stock would be nice to have. You are learning so much as young woman. Having good horse handling skills is still extremely valuable. In some ways it's similar to knowing how to play the piano.. Both are skills not everyone has, and both take a lot of time and practice to learn.

@@JoeLinux2000 Once the horses are a little bit better in the stocks I’ll make sure to put out a video on how to use them!
