Undercover Cops, A Retrospective

- I was always fond of the two player belt scroll beat em up genre, but by 1992 they were few and far between due to the craze for one on one VS fighters that was sweeping the arcades at the time. And during that time Irem managed to slip one out under the wire in the form of Undercover Cops. This game was brutally tough by all accounts, and from my recollections and was a game I could never beat in the arcades. Years later it would come out on Super Famicom, but would it be any easier and would beating the game change my overall opinion of the game?

Another one I hadn't ever come across
Don't get excited about playing it, it starts off really good and then quickly tails off and becomes very very dull and repetitive.
Sqoon is better than Irem's _In the Hunt._ Yeah, I said it. ;-)
I gotta be honest I have never played Sqoon as I never owned an NES, but if its better than In The Hunt then I will be sure to have a look now :) TNX for the tip.
Such a tough genre: it's as if everything after Double Dragon was either a zero or a ten -and I would count the direct sequels (DD2 and 3) as zeroes. IREM put a ton of work into this game, but... it's certainly not a perfect ten, so I'm going to have to give it a zero.
Double Dragon was a game I couldn't stand, and I hated it even more as I couldn't see what all the fuss was about, rubbish controls, tons and tons of slowdown.... I just didn't get the appeal... but thankfully due to the success of Double Dragon video gamers got loads of other decent belt scroll beat em ups like Final Fight and Streets Of Rage 2. I would personally give DD a zero, I just hated it back then.... and I still do. Check out my look back at Double Dragon to see how much I hated it.
The music: the aspect of Double Dragon that has aged well is THE MUSIC. ;-) @@nomadjock
